because one person said metallica was sellouts now no one likes them...black album was great load and reload were good and st anger was pretty **** good. nobody wants to admit that metallica is a great band because its "cool" to hate them. nobody has a good reason for not liking them. someone said their sound changed and thats why they dont like them anymore but honestly has any of their albums ever sounded the same?...cliff was a great member of metallica, god rest his soul but his death did not stop them from bringing out great albums. ill be the first one to admit their old s*** was the best but people dont see the emotion power of their new stuff. All i got to say is if i hear anymore sellout talk im gonna get mad. people need to grow the F*ck up honestly.

What the hell are you talking about? You know how many Metallica fanboys there are? Some of us don't like their music, that's it. They're hugely overrated and I think their music just sucks.

No-one likes them? That's news to me. Metallica still headline some of the biggest festivals worldwide, and their albums sell millions on release. I didnt mean no one likes them I just meant they lost a lot of their original fans. Yes they are still popular. But most of the people who hate them hate them because they heard someone say it on MTV or something. Yes people don't like their newer stuff or even their older stuff but I think that the whole sellout thing has gotten old. Or they hate them because they went "mainstream" which I dont think is right. I think the only reason they went mainstream was because they are good, doesnt make them sellouts. If you dont like their music fine im cool with that, its just whenever someone finds out I like them they give me this ten minute talk that Ive heard a thousand times, like they've been listening to them for along time which half of them ever really heard them. I think its stupid people have to follow the "in" crowd...

No, they're not overrated. They have succeeded many things that many metal bands haven't. They have one of the largest fan bases of metal bands, they have sold huge amounts of records compared to other metal bands, some of their albums are rated at top charts at one of the best metal albums, same with some of their songs, etc...

Every band has fanboys. The reason metallica has more than most bands is because they are good. Fanboys wouldn't be as obessed with them if their music sucked.

I mean if Maiden sold 20 million copies in one album, whether it is good or not, they would be called soldouts, pop, crap, etc... People just can't stand seeing a metal band succeed into music industry and have a large fan base.

People call them sellouts because they changed to a more commercial style of metal, not purely because they sold lots of albums.
