ATM 04-10-2005 11:53 AM

I just asked you in the Community thread, are the Mountain tracks you just played any good?

Aretha rocks, I've heard that cover before.

pigonthewing82 04-10-2005 12:54 PM
^two essential albums right there ;) (maybe three, i've never heard the MC5 one).
Most defenetly three, my advise would be pick that one up (Kick Out The Jams) as soon as possible. You might have better luck finding it on amazon, I've had trouble finding it in some stores.

I think Ozzy Osbourne is doing a cover of Mississippi Queen on his next album.

I've heard it. It's okay.

Glitterati 04-10-2005 01:18 PM

The Kinks. Now they're underrated:).
The Kinks. Now they're underrated:).
They are viewed as one of the top bands of the British invasion. A variety of there songs are known world wide.

Enough of calling the Kinks underrated.

He already covered it.

Glitterati 04-10-2005 01:25 PM

Hmmm....good point Badmoon, old fellow. However, it seems the only songs that really get played on the radio is "You Really Got Me", "All Day And All Of The Night," or "Lola."

I don't really like the first two songs (too poppy) but if they played more stuff like Lola, A Well Respected Man, Waterloo Sunset, etc., etc., that would be awesome.

ATM 04-10-2005 01:29 PM

Did anyone download my upload?

Sure but there are also a great deal of songs that many still know who aren't fans. Like "Apeman", "Shangri-La", "Well Respected Man", etc

Speaking of UK bands, I had no idea how big Queen is in England, I'd say 2nd to the Beatles, it's crazy

I just borrowed The Rolling Stones' Tattoo You and The Beatles The White Album out of the library about an hour or so ago:).

Have you ever heard anything off the White Album before? If not then you are about to hear one of the best peices of recorded music of all time. All the songs are great on it, though I like Helter Skelter the best

I'd heard Back In The U.S.S.R., Happiness Is A Warm Gun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, and Helter Skelter before. Other than that, it was all new.

I really liked Bungalo Bill, though. Cool song. I only listened to about half the first disc, but I'm going to listen to it all the way through tonight.

Distant Echoes 04-10-2005 06:40 PM

I got the 2nd disc to the white album off a friend, but it was really messed up. All the songs were jacked up, and faded in and out at random times. I dont know how that happens, but i didnt even bother listening past song 4.

Im waiting to find somebody else that has it, since its rediculously priced.

That's cool, my library doesn't have music like that...although sometimes I get jazz or blues CDs.

Who do you guys think is your favourite American band?
My favourite would be The Doors...although I could name a few that I really like.

I was just thinking about following up my Abbey Road purchase with a White Album purchase. (Although I still need to get a Cream album or compilation... but, anyway.) Based on my loving Abbey Road, is White Album a good idea?

I've got plenty of music to tide me over in the meantime, as my new purchases of Abbey Road and Are you Experienced? will tide me over long enough.

Glitterati 04-10-2005 06:53 PM

The Doors are one of my favorite American bands. Off the top of my head, I also like The Velvet Underground and The Eagles.

However, I prefer a lot of American solo artists (Dylan, Hendrix, Springsteen) to a lot of American bands.

Ya same here. That's why I made sure I said bands, not artists. Dylan would be at the top of my list. And I've never quite figured out whether The Hendrix Experience is considered American or British.

Thats a hard one. You know if you haven't heard Cream before I would go with the Cream.
