Okay, I'm starting to make some headway with my Windows Media Player problem. Apparently, the player is not an actual media player, it's just a conduit or something like that. Basically jsut boils down to another shameless self-advertisement by Microsoft, I guess.

Anyway, the nature of the 8007007E error means that whatever module or program WMP uses to play certain files isn't working. The first thing to check apparently would be my soundcard drivers.

How do I do that?

Take your time. I probably won't be able to work on anything until late May anyway. Thanks to the Chimp in Chief's bill that gave credit companies all their new perks, the minimum payment on my credit card is now $300, which neither I nor my family can pay, so my card is suspended.

I would just stop using WMP. Just me.

It's currently the only program I have that will rip music from CDs. All the other ones I have tell me I need to buy "registered version" to do that. So I can't do next week's big mailing list unless I can rip music.

Make sure your last.fm is working (last.fm is a plugin). Try to get a computer major to look at you comp if its your soundcard.

It's probably best that you have no choice, iTunes can rip in mp3 format without plugins unlike WMP, which automatically rips in a format that's widely [I]not[/I] used.

It also burns things better than WMP, allows you more control over sound quality, and organizes your music quite a bit better.
