I know what you mean man. Sometimes before I go to bed I think to myself "Shi', Tool is so good, I'd probably suck dick to see them again right now."

And that's mostly a joke, I swear.

Omnibus - You ever jam to any of their tunes, or are you too badass for that?

magicbus 09-28-2006 08:53 AM

No actually I just was yesterday. I was playing Third Eye (sounded awesome), The Patient and The Grudge (I used to play those all the time), and I started learning Rosetta Stoned too.

I don't play their songs much because you gotta do the drop D thing, and changing tunings on my strat is a lot of work because of the floating tremelo. It goes out of tune a lot if you change it up.

ghettoeddo 09-28-2006 09:42 AM

tool played last night near my uni...and i missed it *grumble grumble*

unknownsoldier12 09-28-2006 12:44 PM

I agree, I skipped the show when they played here a week or two ago.

Have you seen them before?

ThePatient 09-30-2006 11:40 AM

I will not be skipping the show tonight. Its a happy day. Anyone know if they are selling new shirts on this tour?

Dried Muffin Remnants 09-30-2006 11:44 AM

I ****ing saw Tool and Isis last night... My life is complete. I just wish Isis played for longer. :(

They sure are. Be prepared to pay though.

Hmm... you're probably figuring that out for yourself right now.

They had a couple new ones since the warm-up tour, but I'm so broke right now I had to restrain myself from shelling out $38 for a t-shirt that I'd probably shrink to the point where I couldn't wear it anyway.

Anyway, that was incredible. Leaps and bounds better from when I saw them on the warm-up tour. I was club level all the way to the side (had a perfect view of the stage, which was awesome), 4 rows in, and the sound was incredible, better than any show I've been to. Everybody around me was awesome; we all got to sit for the whole show which i was REALLY happy about. 10,000 Days was incredible live, it sets a whole different atomosphere while they're going at it. And the lasers might just be the most badass thing I've seen at a concert.

My only complaint is what a lot of other people say, Lateralus should be the closer. Aenima is a good song, but Lateralus just fits that slot so much better. Other than that, a perfect show.

And Isis was incredible as well, and the sound was even set up perfect for them.

:)

I tried getting tickets to the Oakland show last May, and they were sold out in the first minute. Scalpers eat dick

Syncratic 10-01-2006 10:24 AM

Damn I wanna see ISIS so bad it's not funny.

I'm hoping for a headline tour with the release of their new album, DVD, and split.
Sweet, I always wondered if you could leech off of Best Buy's Clearwire server. :p

It's really too bad they're only releasing Refractionoid as a limited edition though...I don't want to pay 30 bucks for an album, but eh, it's Tool. I'd pay anything for Tool.
Just wanted to bring up this old post because it's so classic. Refractionoid... Brilliant Jake.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-01-2006 02:52 PM

Here's a compiled list of fake album titles ammassed by some guys on tdn.

Teleincision
Elephtheria
Bliboran
Refractionoid
Hyparxis
Tiphareth
Firefly
Palpable Obscure
Pseudo-XY•Dénaturé
Pseudo-XY•Aetherius
Aldaraia
Magick
A.R.
Retrogression
Siriad
Self titled
Use your teleincision, pt I and II

The last one is probably my favorite.

misunderstood 10-01-2006 03:01 PM

^ Haha, yeah, I remember alot of these silly titles being posted all over the place. I even heard 'Aldaraia' from my local radio station. I think Aldaraia and Teleincision were probably the ones I heard of most often.

Darkness 10-01-2006 05:06 PM

Wow, I hadn't heard a couple of those. Bliboran and Firefly for example.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-01-2006 05:09 PM

I heard Bliboran a lot around tdn. I have no clue what the actual source was, or why it was close to be relevant to Tool. It doesn't even sound cool..

Alien Six 10-01-2006 08:08 PM

Anyone going to the show at the Hartford Civic Center?

Particularly from the area of New Haven, cause I'm looking for a ride, at least a ride back to Union station from the concert. I'll gladly pay for gas.

Futuro 10-01-2006 08:12 PM
The last one is probably my favorite.
Haha yeah that is a good one.

Tool made fun of GnR on a australian TV show once. (Its on youtube I think)

Refractionoid is probably my favorite title. Just because it sounds SO overly pretentious.

Last two times I saw tool, tickets were 30 and 15 bucks >_> Now I have to pay 80 WTF.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-01-2006 08:31 PM

When're you seeing them, Marshall?

beso negro 10-01-2006 09:07 PM

have you guys seen the CD of Tool lullabies? They have samples here:

Daven 10-01-2006 09:08 PM

Someone posted it some days ago. It has some cool stuff in it.

One Groovin Clown 10-02-2006 04:01 PM

This is question of curiousity. Where and when did you guys first get into Tool?
I remember my dad introducing me to the Aenima album about 4 years ago. Since then i've become a much larger fan than he is. Though whenever we have the house to ourselves, we throw in all the Tool Cd's, put it on shuffle and blast it while knocking back a few. Nothing like a father + son bonding moments. :thumb:

bebubly 10-02-2006 04:09 PM

i got into tool about three years ago when my best mate at the time was introducing me to a load of new music. i got into apc first, and once i was used to them tool were a lot easier to listen to than before that. now they are probably my favourite band. less than two months til the wembley gig now \:D/

Quiksilver26 10-02-2006 04:10 PM

Hmm.. when I was in grade 8 or so.. I saw the video for Schism, and have liked them ever since. It wasn't until I listened to all of Lateralus stoned (grade 10 or 11 maybe?) that they became one of my favourite bands.

Kage 10-02-2006 04:20 PM

It was about five years ago, I saw someone wearing a Tool shirt with the Lateralus-themed artwork, and I was really intrigued by the style of it. I kept the band name cached in my head for a while and some time later heard Schism on the radio and was entranced by the strange atmosphere of it. I went home and downloaded some other hits like Sober. I asked for Lateralus for Christmas that year and got it. The rest is history.

Tyr 10-02-2006 04:25 PM

I think it was about eight years ago. A friend of mine was a huge fan and he burned a CD with their, in his opinion, best songs. He gave me and another of my friends a copy each. From that moment we were both hooked, though I must admit that I'm not that huge a fan anymore. I enjoy listening to them from time to time.

Kage 10-02-2006 04:31 PM

I'm not as big of a fan as I was two years ago. But I usually have big Tool binges and then I don't really listen to them for a while. But they've helped me get into a lot of the styles I'm into today.

At the moment, I'm on a Tool binge.

Tyr 10-02-2006 04:34 PM

I get those binges too, a couple of times a year.

Kage 10-02-2006 04:35 PM

I'm listening to Aenima right now, and I can remember the Summer a few years ago that I really got addicted and even obsessed with this album. Good times, when life was far simpler.

yeah... i know this feeling... its the reason why i try not to listen to albums connected to past times and deep emotions.

repcak 10-02-2006 04:40 PM

**** **** ****... Where Are My Tool Tickets!!!????

Arrrrghhhg....

magicbus 10-02-2006 04:42 PM

I like listening to Lateralus cause it reminds me of high school, when I didn't have to deal with all this college ****. Same goes for a lot of things (including other Tool albums).

repcak 10-02-2006 04:52 PM

holy satan... i found my tickets again... don't know how they got there where i found them... i'm so glad :D

bebubly 10-02-2006 05:04 PM

my tickets haven't turned up yet. in a months time i will be freaking out if they still haven't.

Moses 10-02-2006 05:22 PM

So in my city Maynard's voice was getting crappy and he couldn't sing so Tool didn't play here I guess. It's ok though because I wasn't going anyway.

Kage 10-02-2006 05:24 PM

Getting crappy?
