Apocalyptic Raids 09-05-2006 10:34 PM
Lucky you. My mum makes me turn it off at like 10 because the neighbours have to get up for work early or some crap like that. Plus my sister goes to bed now at 7-8. I'll probably get worse now.
Same here, but I don't play much anymore so it's not an issue.

Shred Danson 09-05-2006 10:39 PM

I live alone, I never have to stop practicing!

OWNAGE!

How many hours a day?

Could you give us a rundown of your practice? What you do, how long and such!

Forlorn Hope 09-05-2006 10:51 PM

Headphones ftw...

living alone with loud guitar > headphones

NP Sinergy- The Bitch Is Back

MRDuCran 09-06-2006 12:27 AM

\m/

Good song.

hollowpainting 09-06-2006 12:28 AM
\m/

Good song.
Never heard it. Just what you recorded?

MRDuCran 09-06-2006 12:36 AM

Oh no, \m/ was directed at Cacophony.

"Good song" was aimed at "NP Sinergy- The Bitch Is Black"

I like those riffs even though they're really basic. And you wrote the bitch is black, lolcano.

I usually shoot for 5-8 hours a day, no matter what, whether it's straight through or in intervals. I don't have a normal routine, just work on my speed, accuracy, finger strength, different positions of scales/chord progressions, etc. Usually, I work more on writing than actual practicing, but yeah...sometimes I will sit down and work on odd time signatures, sweep-taps, etc. I really want to start working on multi-finger tapping.

haha. I'll correct my typo.

I always type that one wrong.

It's a catchy tune.

NP A Spit On Yerr Grave

MRDuCran 09-06-2006 12:40 AM

Ooo that one's even better, sounds to me like it could be on Hatebreeder.

AHh wow. That's alot.

The problem I have when writing is,

I can write riffs, leads, runs and shiit. But I can never figure out how to bridge them together, even if in key.

They sound nice as a song, but that little riff to bridge parts. Besides playing with it, any tips?

I dunno, I just usually think of fills and interludes. Like in "Cover My Eyes" I wrote that little thrashy riff after the first chorus as fill-in so the song would have a little more substance as opposed to just repeating throughout...which it does anyway :p

Shred Danson 09-06-2006 12:49 AM

(this is the riff im talkin about by the way)

|--------------------|---------------
|--------------------|--------------
|--------------------|--------------
|--------------------|--------------
|-2h3h2----2h3h2----|------3-----5
|-------0-0------0-0-|-0-1----1-3--

|--------------------|---------------
|--------------------|--------------
|--------------------|--------------
|--------------------|--------------
|-2h3h2----2h3h2----|------3-----2
|-------0-0------0-0-|-0-1----0-0--

Simple yet effective :p

hollowpainting 09-06-2006 12:49 AM

I'll go jam for a few. I'll come back with my progress. ^)^

edit: @ the tab, ahh. Do you write and just remember everything, or do you tab things out?

Shred Danson 09-06-2006 12:54 AM

Usually I write and remember things but for the stuff I've been writing for B.I.A I've been recording on a Pandora 4-track and tabbing it out on Power Tab, because there is a LOT more going on.

??

Shred Danson 09-06-2006 01:00 AM

Yeah that's the one.

MRDuCran 09-06-2006 01:07 AM

Cool. I use The normal non-recordable PX4. I make use of the in built metronome but the rhythm tones suck.

Shred Danson 09-06-2006 01:11 AM

Nice.

I make good use of the metronome on Power Tab, I'm so poor and ghetto.

MRDuCran 09-06-2006 01:13 AM

Do you create an empty bar, stick repeat signs at either end and hit play?

Shred Danson 09-06-2006 01:16 AM

Yup. It's pretty basic, and works.

I've got cowbell for my click track :p

MRDuCran 09-06-2006 01:18 AM

Sweet, I bet it beats http://www.metronomeonline.com/

I have the PX4 actually so I might just use that and try not to fall asleep, which is blatently going to happen.

In fact, I'm going to lay down.

hhwellllll howdy there cowboy

So I found a tight fill riff that I expand into a chorus I'm working on, but god... I'm so sloppy.

haha. I've gotta cut the number of pinch harmonics in that tune. It's seriously like 1/3 notes in part of the verse.

NP Passage To The Forth World

hollowpainting 09-06-2006 04:06 AM

Sup Kalmah, by the way what's your name sir?

NP Amon Amarth- Where Death Seems To Dwell
Benjamin J

NP - Amon Amarth - Cry of The Black Birds

not the worst on the album ;)
I actually change my vote on that tune.

It's one of the best, as is "under the northern sky".

Best album of the year

hollowpainting 09-06-2006 04:18 AM
That's saying something mng, to be honest I've only listened to it twice, so can't judge it too much yet
Synchestra does it for me, Devin T
Nice to internet meet you Mr. Benjamin.

:thumb:

Ehh. That album didn't work for me, at all. The New Black was great though.

hollowpainting 09-06-2006 04:36 AM

haha I will, no doubt.

Alien was one of the best.

My 05 bests,

I think Sideshow symphonies from Arcturus was 05

Apocalyptic Raids 09-06-2006 05:04 AM
