My Ampere/Daitro split came. Amazing artwork.
Good spl!t. Two awesome bands. Daitro has grown on me so much since i initially heard them. Check out mihai edrisch if you haven't, its the drummers previous band. La Quiete is great, even if you were italian you couldn't understand what they were saying though.:smash: |
I really enjoy the animated music video La Quiete has.
|
haha yeah. it came with the last 7'', like three videos for their songs. beautiful stuff.

Nice. They're a pretty good band. |
I've also acquired a Bells on Trike 10" from soulseek having never listened to the band. Should I be stoked on listening to this?
|
I never heard that band, either. Sounds really familiar, though.
|
Yeah I've read about them before, which is why I grabbed it when I saw it. If it's any good I'll up it in here or something.
|
Awesome.
Illmatic is a good CD but is hardly as immaculate as everyone makes it out to be. I don't doubt its importance or relevance but I think for a bunch of white teenagers on a web forum to be eating up its legendary status may sort of be overhyping something they either don't understand, were not a part of, and/or would like have a piece of. I like the album alright but I don't subscribe to the inflation.
As for The Grind Date, it's a solid album. Amazing stand out tracks and overall fairly cohesive and good. It gets some flack because it's not 3 Feet High and Rising, which honestly I think is a significant drop off from both Stakes Is High and The Grind Date.
So, a white teenager eating up a standard "underground" record as more intelligent/better than Illmatic isn't just as ironic? Illmatic is successful because it is an effective portrayal of a teenager in the Bronx. Maybe, I just have a fetish for people who are effective story tellers but thats really how it is successful. Also, there is no overhyping.. I do not think it is a perfect album.. and considering it was generally heralded as a masterpiece from its release or even from Nas's first guest spot on Cuban Linx there really is no "inflaton". Way to play the we aren't as smart as you card, though. I mean really if I could understand De La Soul.. maybe I'd be really into FOOD RAPS! Sounds like you're just shitting on an album because it gets mad press and you want to keep that "I'm so fly" rep. |
I'll agree with that. But it does not lessen the fact that As the Roots Undo or Illmatic aren't defining albums in their genres. It just means a bunch of faggots get into them because they are so critically acclaimed.

you'll like them if youre a fan of Braid |
Bob Nanna was in a band before Braid called Orwell. They are worth checking out. Also, if you like Bells On Trike, you would most probably like Boy's Life. I like Boy's Life the most out of all the indiemo bands I have heard, but I only have a few albums by the more "obvious" bands. Braid are cool, but I have not listened to them that much.

That is the record I have on mp3. Radio Towers is a cool song.
Anybody like Olive Tree? Their 8-song demo is amazing in my mind. |

despite the distance between your home and mine, you are always only inches from my heart.

Love that song. My favorite will always be Waterbed, though. First song I heard by them and one of my top 10 songs.
|

I used to play starcraft way back in the day, I remmber some of that stuff. It seems like lately theres been a big surge in Starcraft popularity.
|
I don't like Starcraft at all anymore.
|
Dude I have such a ridiculous urge to play Starcraft. I've had it all week. We should start an mx game of golems in VG/M and GD to pick up people. I have to go to a 4th of July lunch but after that I'm really down to do this.
Theres some people in pop-punk that are into it, I suggest making a thread in the pit or something to get a game together. |
Ya back when you were jocking them I was like they're probably just a food if Ash is joking them so hard and like 15 other fat people prejudices but now I've realized that they're a tight band.
ROFL |
I just smoked a blunt with my g/f. :)
