BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 04-09-2005 10:53 AM

I've never heard any Tull before I've heard everyone here talk about them but never have I heard their music. I was about to buy Accualing (spelling?) for 7$ hoping it was good but decided not to.

Aqualung is a really great buy, especially at 7$.

It's Aqualung. How the hell do you get Accualing?

Anyway you really should've bought it.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 04-09-2005 10:58 AM

What do they sound like?

jpj 04-09-2005 10:58 AM
What do they sound like?
Hard rock with a flute. They also have some folk type songs on albums like Heavy Horses and Songs From the Wood.
What do they sound like?
Basically what JPJ said. Their earlier material(pre-Aqualung) is an odd take on blues(mostly on This Was, with Mick Abrahms on guiutar), with strong elements of folk and jazz as well. Their next release, Stand Up, is more well refined and they switched to guitarist Martine Barre, who brought more influence of various genres. By Benefit they changed and became more a rock group basically.

My description>JPJ's.

RobNY 04-09-2005 12:04 PM

So yeah, just got two albums.

Abbey Road and Are you Experienced.

Abbey Road, I have discovered, > all of us.

ATM 04-09-2005 12:08 PM

Did you want me to upload some Tull for you?

I got a left handed banjo (I'm left handed) today..it needs some work, hopefully I can fix it up and start playing around with it soon..I got it for free cleaning out someone who died's house they were going to throw it out.

I got Piper at the Gates of Dawn...my first Pink Floyd cd, it's pretty good stuff, a little different from what I expected but nevertheless good.

That is a great cd, I listen to it about everyday. But yes it would be much different from what you would expect because its from a different era of sound for the band then from what the sound they are famous for.

I got Aoxomoxoa today.. AAH it's so good, I have been listening to China Cat Sunflower like a rabid racoon

lunch998 04-09-2005 04:38 PM

I picked up Dick's Picks Volume 23 today.

jpj 04-09-2005 05:07 PM

I got Nashville Skyline and Shake Your Money Maker (Black Crowes) today.

Dylan's voice sounds odd on NS. I prefer his more unintelligible singing.
If/when you get another Pink Floyd CD, don't expect it to sound anything like that, since The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn is really atypical of what their most famous work sounds like. Basically, anything after and including Meddle doesn't really have much psychedelica in, whereas The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn is hugely psychedelic, thanks to Syd Barrett's influence. I still like it, just not as much as other Floyd albums...I think they only really found their sound when Gilmour joined.
i agree. piper at the gates of dawn is good, but i much prefer the later stuff

Well that's why I bought it I figured I'd like that sound, as psychedelic as it was I expected it to be different, I think I expected a more poppy sound or something. It was very cool though I'll have to listen to it some more.
That's awesome, I wanna learn banjo someday
Heh, I found out it'll cost over $100 to fix it up nice...I may just save and buy a new one.

Distant Echoes 04-09-2005 05:25 PM

I would get banjo, but im tryin to get the guitar/bass/drums higher line stuff so i can record stuff my self first. It would be sweet though.

Who agrees that John Cipollina is a very underrated guitarist? For those who don't know he is the guitarist for the Quicksilver Messenger Service.

Originally on Animals(I think), there is a guitar solo from the end of the album to the beginning of the album, or something like that. Supposedly it's fantastic, I don't know if that's what you're referring to or not.

NP: 39-Minute Version of "The Other One".

Yeah that sounds like the one I'm thinking of. I've yet to hear it played with the rest of the album, I only have clips of Pig on the Wing with the solo.
