I intend to buy Dirt in the future.

It's not that wierd that they don't have HSB. Hardly anyone knows about them. Shadows Fall is another good one, and I found out about HSB through them.
I love Shadows Fall. Death To Pop Punk influenced me. I guess maybe I've just heard of the band, so I thought they would be on the site.

Illmatic 07-18-2005 12:13 PM
You're not really defending it in the same way though, right?
What do you mean?

Taste_My_Scythe 07-18-2005 12:13 PM
I have Chris Rock's stance on rap:

"I love rap music, but I'm tired of defending it"

Hell, my username is a rap album.

I like a lot of music, though. I wish guzzlefish wasn't down, then I could link my album collection.
Oh, is it? I wouldn't know. :p
Guzzlefish? What do you have?

Drugstep 07-18-2005 12:13 PM

Meh, I'm not too much of a fan of MeloDeath, but some names come to mind. Trivium, Caliban, etc.

Arucard 07-18-2005 12:14 PM

Nice way to ignore my advising post Leah.

And Gagging : They are not Melodic Death Metal bands. Caliban are Metalcore, and Trivium are just part of this new wave of American metal.

Moses 07-18-2005 12:15 PM
What do you mean?
Well, I assume you're only defending it on here because of the musical elitists. Chris Rock is defending it because of violence and profanity.

Edit: I could be wrong though.

ATM 07-18-2005 12:16 PM
You do that plz.

That was the funniest part ever.

"I'll go in the club and see girls dancing to some of the nastiest songs ever."

Then he started dancing and singing "Slap her with your dick, poke her in the eye. Bliiiind a bitch"

Do you have any Chris Rock mp3s?

Drugstep 07-18-2005 12:17 PM

Hey! I missed replying to it because when I came back from the thread, I went to CP and saw the last post. I already got all the downloads from the Lost Horizon thread. Thanks for reminding me to check though. :thumb:

Leah, try some Arsis \m/

I have to thank Joe for introducing me to them.

Nas' debut album Illmatic, released in 1994, is probably the most widely acclaimed rap album of all time. Even Jay-Z, Nas' biggest rival, has praised it and even sampled a line from "The World Is Yours" (the line "I'm out for dead presidents to represent me") for the track "Dead Presidents" on HIS debut album, Reasonable Doubt (which I mantain is his strongest album even to this day). He even praises the album in the Nas diss track "The Takeover" ("Four albums in ten years, nigga? I can divide, that's one every, let's say two/two of them shits was due, one was 'eh', the other was Illmatic/that's the one hot album every ten year average")

guzzlefish is a site like RecordNerd or RateMyMusic where you can put up your album collection/wish list. Unfortunately I think there's something wrong with the site :-\

I do [did] it for both reasons, mostly.

I have him to thank too. I love Arsis. :thumb: Face of My Innocence is amazing.

Ray - checked out some more Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. Good stuff. I forgot Soundgarden did Black Hole Sun. I always liked that song and I could never exactly tell why.

trivium are surprisingly good given the other indistinguishable and boring bands that they are associated with. Killswitch, Lamb of god, and so on
I'm not saying said bands are bad as such, just all the same...

Killswitch and Lamb of God are grossly different.

My msn user title thing is 'As the reasons came and went, and swept across the face of my innocence, i was lost.'

They really do have some great music/lyrics. Can't wait for Diamond For Disease, only 3 more months.

Awesome! Yeah, me too. I only have three songs from Arsis, all from this site. No albums (yet).
Killswitch and Lamb of God are grossly different.
Agreed. Personally, I prefer Killswitch.

Give Limbonic Art a listen. They are a cool band.

tell me how?

I saw both at download, they were both OK, pretty decent bands, but all a bit samey to me- no individuality in that genre IMO

Arucard 07-18-2005 12:25 PM

If i had any music on my new computer in my room, i'd upload some great tracks off the album.

Ooh wait, get some Borknagar. Do it now. Vortex era if possible, but Vintersorg stuff i also good.

Surprised you like Primus. Generally a little too quirky for a fan of rap music, but hey, I love Primus and rap too so I guess it's not that surprising.

I've not heard that, and I've got a couple of Chris Rock routines on my computer. What was that from?

Pretty impressive. You're now that much cooler to me that you own Sabbath, The Clash, GnR, Bowie, Slayer and Opeth. :p

NJMetalMeister 07-18-2005 12:26 PM

Leah, despite you already saying that the racist tendencies of Arghoslent would push you away from them in the Death Heads thread a while back, as far as Melodic Death Metal goes, you really cannot get much better. And despite the lyrics being racist, they are actually more cleverly written than your generic ignorant racist white power band. I would upload a song for you, but im about to head out to quiz night at a local irish pub!

ATM 07-18-2005 12:26 PM

I saw it on Comedy Central one night. I'm not sure what the actual show was called.

Anyways, Slayer looks really out of place on your list Ray

Arucard 07-18-2005 12:26 PM

And Slug : Limbonic Art kick arse.

I've recently noticed that my posts are turning into Death and Black metal only reccomendations :(

/Thinks of non Death band....

Check out Senses Fail.

Edit : Argholesent kick major butt.

I saw Killswitch live (at Newcastle Student Union, as it happens) back before they released their second (widely-known) album, I think, and they were rubbish. Luckily I wasn't there for them, though.

EDIT: Damn it 12oz, I was just about to recommend Arghoslent.

Firstly, I don't think Children of Bodom are racist. Secondly, I would listen to a song by the band, but I would not support it by downloading or buying an album if they are racists.

What kind of music is that, just so I know?
:p

Well, the site did have Kings of Convenience, but they are a little too mellow for me. The site didn't have Wuthering Heights or Edguy though, which sucks. Right now I kinda feel like I want some new melodeth or something really hard and melodic that I can headbang to.
You need some Quo Vadis, they are a must if you like melodic death.

songs to check out :

Break The cycle
Silence Calls The Storm
Dead Mans Diary
On the Shores of Ithaka
I Believe

Borknagar = black/progressive/folk/viking metal all mixed into one

Arucard 07-18-2005 12:30 PM

Bobo, what kind of music is Borknagar exactly? I was under the impression it was Melodic Black.

And for Quo-Vadis add Elements Of The Absolution Pt.3 to that list.
