M.I.A. is off the proverbial chain.

I haven't slept in about 36 hours. Last night, three comrades and I decided to drive to the mountains at 5 AM, and we got back at noon today. I feel like hell, but it was pretty damn fun.

Well, it's no surprise that Frances the Mute wasn't on Pitchfork's list, anyway.

Mike Watt responded to my myspace bulletin sayin happy birthday to him. I had no idea he would respond. It was pretty exciting.

Happymeal 12-20-2005 07:48 PM

I bet you giggled like schoolgirl quite a few times.

Mike Watt: Hey dude, I was in the minutemen. Thanks for the wishes.

I have a check in my hands made payable to me from my own high school. All I did was film a few of the football games as a favor for the coach, and voila, I'm officially a part time employee of the school.

Yessssssssssss

edit: New Belle and Sebastian = great, I'd made a thread asking people to fellate me for it but I'm going to go on the assumption I'm not the only one who has it.

br3ad_man 12-21-2005 05:23 AM

Is it more like their older stuff (eg Sinister) or is it more like stuff like Dear Catastrophe Waitress? I don't like the latter of those, it's too loud. The only B&S albums I have are those two and Tigermilk. From what I can tell, the old stuff is way way better.

In other news, When Harry Met Sally is one of the best films I've seen. In my top 10 for sure. I also saw The Seven Samurai today and it was majorly awesome.

The new B&S got me into B&S, I never really liked them much before.

This is a compilation of a few Smashing Pumpkins acoustic concerts from around 1991-1993, I uploaded it in R&M and thought it might be appreciated around here too. It's interesting to hear songs like Cherub Rock and Siva done acoustically, it also has a great cover of thin Lizzy's 'Dancing in the moonlight'.

heres the set: http://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/boot.html?boot_id=111

Bah! I can't believe Johnny Damon jeft the Sox and joined those Yankee bastards.

On a good note, I finished my last final this morning (8am finals suck, btw) and I'm going home in less than three hours, and I'll be there until about halfway through January. Ahhh, good times.

My dad's picking me up too, so I have to smuggle his gifts home without him seeing them. I'm opting for the black trashbag strategy.

6Stringer 12-21-2005 10:25 AM

So today is my birthday... yay!

JonM 12-21-2005 10:36 AM

Happy bizzledizzle. How old are you?

Some of the songs are soft like old b&s (Dress Up in You, Act of the Apostle II) and some have the upped piano effect that sounds either newer or totally different (Sukie in the Graveyard, Another Sunny Day). The Blues are Still Blue is definetly my favorite song from it so far, this album is pretty great, I plan to buy this. Oh yeah, and they drop 1 or 2 guitar solos.

Happy bday 6Stringer/Frank

Daniel! 12-21-2005 02:15 PM

Yay! More birthdays.

Robert Crumb 12-21-2005 02:22 PM

Happy birthday birthday peoples. I wish I had someone cool to share my birthday with. The only person I know of is Wade Boggs.

Daniel! 12-21-2005 02:25 PM

Some guy in Earth Wind and Fire has the same birthday as me. And that's about it.

Zmev 12-21-2005 03:10 PM

I share a birthday with Jude Law
