I'm just about to head out to Oshawa for a PTH show. I really hope it's not too muggy because the Dungeon rarely has working a/c |
Yeah, 15 dollars is a great price to pay to throw your social life to the wind.
To be fair it's doing nothing but gaining social time. A game where you're forced to play with people is in no way anti-social. |
Depends on how you look at the idea of being anti-social. Self induced agoraphobia hardly seems like it's making you social, even if you are spending all of your time talking to dudes named 4r4g0rn

Whens the next time they're closer? Than Oshawa :-\ Josh: I read on the LOTR SOA site that theyre adding a fee to that too, but they dont know how much yet. If I buy the game now does that mean I don't pay it later? I read something lik that but it got me confused :-\ |
Whens the next time they're closer?
Than Oshawa :-\
Won't be for a long while, probably not until Oct/Nov. Not until theyre touring/hyping Fortress. |

Bah humbug I need to find some shows to go to 'cause I haven't been to any this summer. |

Well I can't say much as i'm fairly agoraphobic and pretty much a teenage hermit, but i'm extremely content with a lack of real friends or friends in general. I fair very well by myself. The thing is though, talking/working with others is always the same even if done in different ways. i'm going to a Dillinger/Behold... The Arctopus show and a Suffocation/Immolation show in October
November is Enslaved :D |
ITT: rationalization |
ITT incorrectness (not from Ray though)
Talking with others is not at all always the same it is definitely media dependent. |
ITT incorrectness (not from Ray though)

Part of social interaction deals with physicality. |
Part of social interaction deals with physicality.
In a certain way. It's like saying that talking on the phone isn't being social. |
It isn't being as social as being in person. Like I said, socialness is totally dependent on the medium used.
|
tbh it probably doesn't help you aren't in school anymore.
|
It isn't being as social as being in person.
That's nothing more than opinion.
tbh it probably doesn't help you aren't in school anymore.
What do you mean? |
That's nothing more than opinion.
I have little doubt there's reseach out there about the effects of internet and phone sociality versus in person sociality. If you really want me to dig up some studies I will. Or I could even just get back to you Tuesday after my sociology class I'm sure my professor could recommend me some good reading. |
Doesn't help your social situation any, does it?
EDIT: To Josh obviously |
In almost all ways that you look at it, any source of the internet doesn't promote a social enviornment. Even in a more social game you're still not embracing yourself to society because essentially you're not interacting with a human, you're communicating with another aspect of the internet.
You also don't get the feelings and emotions you get with a human because you have no real communication other than reading the words they type. |
That's nothing more than opinion.
no it's definitely not. |

Yes, of course.
|
Well like I said, I don't need people in general to be happy. I'm way past that. I understand what you mean though. There's a girl that i'd do anything to be with right now that lives in Kansas.
Doesn't help your social situation any, does it? EDIT: To Josh obviously
It makes it better. |
Well we all want to communicate and be with others because it's human nature, and I haven't yet gained up enough misanthropy to become anti-social, haha.

Oh man I have. It's pretty simple. |
It makes it better.
Kay, I see the problem right there. If you don't, there are some MAJOR issues. |
Kay, I see the problem right there. If you don't, there are some MAJOR issues.
How many times do I have to say it, i'm just flat out not in need of a lot of social interaction. I am perfectly fine just being alone. |
Kay, I see the problem right there. If you don't, there are some MAJOR issues.
it seems wotan isn't mature enough to deal with people he doesn't like (and rejection, it seems). he'd rather stay in his room his entire life than risk talking to someone who he might not get along with. |
I'm not questioning your happiness being disjoint from society I despise people probably even more than you. I'm disputing your claim to be as social as a "normal" person. Because this is a fallacy. It's a fallacy regardless of whether or not you need to be social to be happy. |

Whoa, hold on. I never said I was as social as a normal person. I'm far from it and have no reason to lie. @Illmatic: Haha, i'm a very likeable person in real life and am nice to everyone I meet. Don't try the angry nerd approach on me. |

It is still socializing but it's not the only social interaction humans need.
I can't imagine raising a kid solely through internet interaction would produce a "normal" child. |
It is still socializing but it's not the only social interaction humans need.
I guess.
Where are you going with that?
That internet socialization is not as fulfilling to modern human needs as in person socialization is. |
It is on a different level. Me socializing in real like with my parents and a few friends completely fulfills me in a physically face to face way.
