Cause no one was looking at the titans of thrash thread.

Dargon 07-27-2007 07:52 PM
What about Sonic Fires or whatever it's called.
what the hell, now he's talking about Sonic Firestorm which is a Dragonforce album.

Troll. Ban.

Eleventeen, Overkill deserves to be talked about in here much more than any of the bullshit you bring up.

TojesDolan 07-27-2007 07:52 PM

It's groovy.

Blashyrkh 07-27-2007 07:53 PM

Wait what are we talking about?!!

TojesDolan 07-27-2007 07:54 PM

Overkill and Dragonforce.

Although the earlier is Thrash metal with cheesy vocals, and the latter is cheesy power metal with cheesier lyrics and music and vocals.

a_girl_brushed_red_x 07-27-2007 07:55 PM

Dragonforce sucks. Overkill's overrated.

So death metal...?

TojesDolan 07-27-2007 07:56 PM

I tried to get into Pavor, but I don't know. I don't like it, it's a bit too cheesy.

Shred Danson 07-27-2007 07:58 PM

yeah, why are we discussing crappy metal in the death heads thread? Oh wait, we always do that. :-/

Dargon 07-27-2007 07:58 PM

ok I have their debut, and I don't know about "cheesy" but it's pretty boring techy ****. I remember liking the song Corpses. (for Pavor)

Deth 07-27-2007 07:59 PM

I like Pavor. Nice when I need to listen to stupidly overplayed bass.

TojesDolan 07-27-2007 07:59 PM

hahah I know

EDIT: On Pavor, I have Furioso and it's still technical death metal, but it does lack some kind of driving force anyway

Deth 07-27-2007 08:07 PM

Vocals kinda suck though.

pate 07-27-2007 10:53 PM

Poofy 666 07-28-2007 12:05 AM

I'm seeing Overkill in a few days :D

Anyways, the new Obituary gets an 80 from me, mostly for not being utter shit like Frozen in Time.

Blashyrkh 07-28-2007 12:18 AM

oO where are you going to see them?

Poofy 666 07-28-2007 12:25 AM

Overkill was good live when I saw them, but they had a lot of technical difficulties so the show wasn't quite as good as I hoped.

TojesDolan 07-28-2007 02:09 AM
...except not.
Except it goes homosexual in particular sections.

Shred Danson 07-28-2007 02:27 AM
Except it goes homosexual in all sections.
Fix'd.

Stoic 07-28-2007 09:13 AM
no, I meant I certainly hope that you calling Overkill crap was a joke.
I was 15 or 16 when I first heard Evil Never Dies. Shocking experience. Same with Kreator's Ripping Corpse. And Sadus's Certain Death :)

Dimmu Burger 07-28-2007 09:50 AM

Man, I thought Despised Icon was gonna be good, and it ended up having like 6 metalcore breakdowns in every song. Are there people out there who actually still like generic breakdowns? Cause bands certainly think that they are freakin great.

masscows 07-28-2007 10:53 AM

Yeah I can't stand that band.

VomitStainedCretin 07-28-2007 11:47 AM
Are there people out there who actually still like generic breakdowns?
White trash who wantz sum beatdown time. And for bands it's an excuse not to write any decent intermediate connecting riffs and increases their appeal to aforementioned white trash.

a_girl_brushed_red_x 07-28-2007 12:21 PM

I like breakdowns, but normally if they're actually good.

Tyler 07-28-2007 12:22 PM

Breakdowns are great if you can't tell when they'll happen. Most these new breakdown oriented bands write songs around their breakdowns and not vice versa, so it's easy to predict when one'll come the second the song starts

a_girl_brushed_red_x 07-28-2007 12:22 PM

Example of an awesome breakdown, the first breakdown in Beneath Dying Skies by Through The Eyes Of The Dead.

rattlehead42147 07-28-2007 12:24 PM

i hate most metalcore but for some reason i cant help liking lamb of god, and the bridge (i refuse to call it a breakdown) in hourglass around the 2 minute mark is pretty cool

i agree completely

LifeInABox 07-28-2007 12:24 PM

That's my favorite song on that album.

LoG isn't Metalcore.

breakdowns are bridges.

UpperDecker 07-28-2007 12:45 PM

What does everyone think of Altars of Madness by Morbid Angel? Besides None So Vile, its probably my 2nd favorite death metal album.

LifeInABox 07-28-2007 12:53 PM

I don't have that yet! I was going to get it, but I got Left Hand Path instead. How good is Clandestine?

Tyler 07-28-2007 12:54 PM
Candlestine
Clandestine is solid.

LifeInABox 07-28-2007 12:57 PM

Edited Coke. No need for bolding over a type-o.

a_girl_brushed_red_x 07-28-2007 01:07 PM

Lot's of need.

Altars of Madness is great. Abominations of Desolation is better though.

Breakdowns = stupid core garbage.

What's with all the Overkill bashing? They were one of the most consistent thrash bands.

LifeInABox 07-28-2007 04:54 PM

Slayer was too, but made higher quality music.

Tyler 07-28-2007 05:49 PM
Slayer was too, but made higher quality music.
Slayer has made consistently lame music, ranging from average to hilarious.
Breakdowns = stupid core garbage.
well, now yeah. but there's more to breakdowns than lame chug-chug half-time bullshit.

Shred Danson 07-28-2007 05:51 PM
