Well I was looking at getting the vinyl. Ive seen it at my local second hand record shop and if its still there next time I go i'll get it.

Yield 11-05-2006 10:58 PM

I wish I had a record player. I found Animals on vinyl and I really wanted it.

Anyways, has anyone noticed that on The Wall Live In Berlin, you can see that Roger is smiling a lot. I think this is because he is so happy about putting on his monster of a show that he can't hold it in. He also looks very happy at Live 8.

Danger Bird 11-06-2006 10:46 AM

I like corporal clegg.

MWGRSN 11-06-2006 10:56 AM

I cannot find Piper at the gates of dawn anywhere! It makes me want to cry...

magicbus 11-06-2006 02:44 PM

I bought mine at Best Buy. I guess it just depends which ones you look at.

MWGRSN 11-06-2006 03:17 PM

Thanks, I'll try there... again... Appreciate it:thumb:

magicbus 11-06-2006 03:23 PM

No problem, good luck :)

Yield 11-06-2006 05:03 PM

I got mine from Amazon, but best buy has a good selection, too. How much did you pay for it though. That's the only thing I don't like about buying music from stores like that because it's usually overpriced.

ghettoeddo 11-06-2006 05:49 PM

a momentary lapse of reason is really good...just gave it a thorough listen

magicbus 11-06-2006 05:51 PM

I don't think I've bought a cd over 15 bucks at Best Buy in the last few years. Piper probably cost me 11 or 12, but that was a while ago.

Danger Bird 11-06-2006 07:07 PM

That's strange that you couldn't find Piper, it's not exactly rare.

Montana 11-06-2006 07:26 PM

Hey, I tried downloading Rick Wright's Wet Dream and only a acouple songs came up and they have been queued indefinitely.

Anybody have any of those songs they wouldn't mind sharing? Or does anyone know where I could just listen to some songs?

I'm really curious about that album.

Riva 11-06-2006 08:37 PM

I will upload my four favourite tracks now, if you like.

Do you all have the Daily Upload?

I would appreciate it, thank you.
a momentary lapse of reason is really good...just gave it a thorough listen
I didn't find it very interesting. It's good and it has it's moments, but it just comes out as an average piece of work. Not the kind of album that I would expect from floyd after what they had been through.
I don't think I've bought a cd over 15 bucks at Best Buy in the last few years. Piper probably cost me 11 or 12, but that was a while ago.
that's great. Best Buy isn't actually bad. The other big stores I've been to that have good selections but are horribly overpriced (Borders) have turned me away from big stores. At Borders I found DSOTM which they were trying to sell for twenty bucks.
That's strange that you couldn't find Piper, it's not exactly rare.
Another reason why I think Best Buy isn't bad. I went there and they had a surprisingly large amount of Piper albums.
(They also had some cool orchestrial versions of The Wall :p )

magicbus 11-06-2006 10:56 PM

Oh yea Borders is terrible. A lot of their stuff is really overpriced.

Yield 11-06-2006 11:00 PM

I won't buy a CD from a book store unless it's the used book store.

Alright, I megauploaded four tracks from Wet Dream. If you're interested, either wait for it to come out in the Daily Upload (it should be tomorrow since it's not counted as a full album) or email me on my gmail account (HeavyRiva) expressing your interest.

MattSharpIsCool 11-07-2006 12:55 AM

A Momentary Lapse of Reason is an alright album, but nothing special. Gilmour had barely written any Floyd material in a long time, so I give him a bit of a mulligan. Its not a bad CD, it can just be a bit bland at times.

However, The Division Bell was a good rebound (and finale?) for Pink Floyd.

I've also been having trouble finding Wet Dreams on soulseek. Does anyone here have slsk and that album?

I buy almost all of my crap from Best Buy. I havent purchased a CD from there over $15, ever. And their DVD's are mostly all 15-20 bucks.

I really want to invest in a record player though, and start buying some vinyls. I do think they sound a lot better. More real or whatever.

ghettoeddo 11-07-2006 01:56 AM

you can't expect them to still be at full steam after 40 years
they've done fantastic work and well...a hell of a career.
every album's got something to offer

I know that, but what was said before, it's nothing special.

I do however look forward to getting The Division Bell.

Riva 11-07-2006 06:17 PM

To be honest, The Division Bell and A Momentary Lapse Of Reason are both tied in the mediocrity stakes for me. I still really enjoy listening to them both, however.

Delicate Sound Of Thunder has better version of the songs from AMLOR. I <3 Learning To Fly.

rippa32 11-07-2006 08:20 PM

I did listen briefly to Division Bell a while back. To me it doesnt sound like Pink Floyd. It could be because Roger isn't in it but im not sure.
I did listen briefly to Division Bell a while back. To me it doesnt sound like Pink Floyd. It could be because Roger isn't in it but im not sure.
It doesn't much.. A couple songs do, like Marooned, Wearing The Inside Out, High Hopes,.. Yeah, that's about it. But it's a good album musically. Some of my favorite Gilmour work is on that album... High Hopes, Keep Talking, Coming Back To Life, Marooned, Wearing The Inside Out.. Good guitar work on them IMO.

Probably my favorite solo from Gilmour is On The Turning Away.

MattSharpIsCool 11-07-2006 10:35 PM

"High Hopes" is one of my favorite Floyd tunes.

As is "On The Turning Away"

"Learning To Fly" doesnt do it for me though.

Tu Se Morta 11-07-2006 11:04 PM

mmm the Pulse dvd is really good, with billy corgan talking about them and playing Wish You Were Here with them. so great.

Riva 11-08-2006 12:14 AM

Blasphemy! Have you heard Learning To Fly on DSOT?!

MattSharpIsCool 11-08-2006 12:17 AM
Blasphemy! Have you heard Learning To Fly on DSOT?!
Nope.

But I saw it on Pulse, and its just kind of a "meh" song.

A lot of Guy Pratt's bass lines are extremely boring on CD, I've noticed.

Riva 11-08-2006 12:23 AM

Bah, if you haven't heard it on DSOT, you are no longer able to conclusively offer your opinion on the song. Honestly, even on the album it was no where near as good, but they hit it just right on that tour.

MattSharpIsCool 11-08-2006 12:26 AM

Ok Ok I'll try to download DSOT.

/goes

EDIT: So I listened to it on the live CD. It does sound better than the studio version, but its not really all that different.

rippa32 11-08-2006 05:27 AM

Okay I downloaded Marooned, and it sounds very much like echoes, which isn't a bad thing of course. I prefer echoes but this is still very good.

Riva 11-08-2006 07:44 AM

It's still one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs. Learning To Fly, that is.

Marooned is fairly nice, too.

Jimmy 11-08-2006 09:42 AM

Division Bell doesn't do it for me at all. Learning to Fly is better than High Hopes in my opinion, but neither post-rogers albums are very good at all. They've got a few good songs, but as albums they're severely lacking.

Montana 11-08-2006 02:05 PM

I've liked every version of Learning To Fly that I've heard. It's a classic song in my opinion and I also think MLOR is an excellent album. On the Turning Away, One Slip, Learning To Fly; all great tracks.

Wet Dream is such a fitting title for Rick Wright's album. I'm really loving those tracks from the Daily Upload, especially Pink's Song and Waves. All of the piano is just beautiful. :)

Yield 11-08-2006 08:06 PM

I agree with riva. Although AMLOR is not my favorite album, Learning to Fly is one of my favorite songs.

MattSharpIsCool 11-08-2006 09:56 PM

Learning to Fly just doesnt really sound like a Pink Floyd song to me. It's pretty upbeat and poppy, which isnt a bad thing, its just so completely different from Roger's style of writing.

High Hopes just has that darker sound.

Eh, maybe it will grow on me. I still havent really listened to their last two CD's all that much, so who knows.

Jo Shoe Wah 11-09-2006 07:55 AM

Hey, i haven't posted in here in a while but should be more often from now on (exams/start of year 12 is settling down :)).

I think i'll be going to see Roger in Sydney, i don't think i can pass this one up :p , anyone else seen him in recent times/going to see him in this tour? How was it?

Collis 11-09-2006 09:44 AM

I just got tickets to see Waters in Manchester next May ... it is expensive but I aren't gonna get the chance to see him any cheaper :(

NP: Fearless

magicbus 11-09-2006 11:36 AM

Collis, how are you liking Lateralus? I think it's fantastic, really prog influenced.

Did you catch the SOYCD part in "The Grudge"? It's at 7:48...
