What you are looking to get fits perfect with what you have... I think that's a great set-up :thumb:

AAXcelerator, AAX stage, AA regular hats are all good choices.
Thanks, i'll check those out at GC....
14" AAX Stage hats
Too bright for my taste, but thanks.

TTTSNB 01-30-2006 05:44 PM

So, I'm looking for a more washy ride that still has a great deal of volume. I've found that I enjoy using this kind of sound to create a sort of cushion of sound...any suggestions?

FL3P 01-30-2006 07:20 PM

I have the A Custom medium ride and it works fine in that regard.

AA medium ride or AAX stage ride. good washy rides right there. AAX stage ride crashes really well too.

HeLLmO 01-31-2006 05:34 AM

^definatly agreed. lots of wash, great crash. i'm not the biggest fan of tons of wash, i prefer dry, but damn those stage rides are nice

Drum Phil 01-31-2006 06:22 AM

I always found the HH and HHX rides to be quite washy

Tim 01-31-2006 08:57 AM

pretty much any medium ride will have good wash to it.

Chris 01-31-2006 04:25 PM

Do you lot recond a 16'' Wuhan China will go with a 18'' UFIP Tigar China?

I ask as, i have had the tigar on order for 6 months, and due to 'issues' with UFIP Internatonal, well it the order has now been changed to UFIP Italy. And the order left Italy last wednesday.

As i have a gig on thursday, i cant see the tigar being here by then, so im trying to get a 16'' Wuhan.

But in the long run, do you think they will go in sound? (I've never heard a Wuhan, but the 16 is £30, so i cant go wrong really).

New cymbal

Hi I'm new.

I'm looking for advice on new cymbals.
I'm looking at a Ride cymbal and maybe a china or Splash, I play rock mostly but other types depending what I feel like playing.

Right now I have Sabian B8 13'' hi-hats
and a Sabian B8 16'' thin Crash.

saars 01-31-2006 07:45 PM

^^first thing, replace your hats and crash with better cymbals. Then, start building up.

Myslik 01-31-2006 08:48 PM

What exactly are better cymbals to replace mine with...
I haven't really added or removed anything for 3 years and I'm not all that up to date on cymbals... or drums for that matter.

If this is what you have I strongly suggest buying a ride cymbal... Some good lines to check out include Sabian AA/AAX aswell as Zildjian A/A Custom. They are professional cymbals and you will most likely not need to upgrade from there...

Dont buy the pack. Youre better off buying seperately.IMO you get a more unique sound. If you dig the pack then go to your local music store and they should be able to order it for you.

ruggy_drumboy 02-01-2006 07:05 AM

Hey i was just wondering, ive got a 16" crash and 20" ride and i wanna get another cymbol 2 go in the middle cause its a damn long way 2 move from the ride 2 the crash quickly in say chorus' so watd would b best 4 say a punk/alternative band. A small splash crash or a larger crash? And also i wanna know at what level r paiste 302's at? good? ****? average?

chewaz 02-01-2006 11:30 AM

hhye, anyone knows with wich hats (sabian) can i get the sound of the one on the police - Roxanne? The TSSS, it's awesome

I would say go for another crash. In a punk/alternative settings you might not want a splash too much as you will be limited to very few splashes because you want a cymbal tahts gonna cut really well. the paiste 302 were the old paiste beginner lines. Just save up your money for something a bit more higehr end. Id say get an 18 or 19inch crash, something along the lines of AA, AAX, A custom or A. All those lines have soem good crashes for that kind of music.

Paiste Rudes.

Chris 02-02-2006 09:58 AM

I asked this before, and got no reply so...
Paiste Rudes.
nah no way, the rudes are ruuude, the feel is like responsive, and mmm ithough they were like mastersounds or soundedges something like that, anyone knowa?

HeLLmO 02-03-2006 01:22 PM

^well true, rudes are very rude, but they are what stewart copeland used to use. but if u want good hats from sabian, look into the AA's AAX, HH and HHX then just chose from there, go to the sabian site and do the soundchecks, or, better yet, go to GC or Sam Ash or w.e u have locally and try all sorts of hats out. and for the record, they do make 14' rude soundedge hats

WarHammer 02-03-2006 01:33 PM

I'm looking for a ride that can be used in bebop, modern jazz, blues, and maybe some softer rock. Preferably Zildjian and under $300 US. It needs to have plenty of wash, but a controled ping, and I don't care how the bell sounds (Z Custom Power Ride for when I need a bell). Suggestions?

Drum Phil 02-03-2006 01:34 PM

22" K Heavy?

i meant the "tsss" when riding the hat not the "TSSS" whe the hat is open, haven't you heard Roxanne?? and well, in my country there's no sabian dealer and no nowhere to try them, most of the stores have B8, Solars, B8 pro, and some pro sonix. No Paistes only the cheap series, of Zildjian some A customs (ride 22") crashes, avedis, constaninople, but really few, it suck :P

Ride

Hey im looking for a new ride, musical and jazzy but with a powerful bell. Any price range really, sabian or zildjian preferably.

well, i won't lie, i haven't listened to roxanne in a very long time, i'll have to go dig it up, i was just going by what stewart used at the time. do u have meinl where u are? or stagg?

sabian's got some great ones, look at HH, HHX and check out the signatures, they have tons of signature rides. if u have ANY price range u may wanna check out zildjian constantinoples, then look at Ks and K customs

yeah i got meinl up to classics cause the guy of the store won't make any special orders of byzance and soundcaster yet, I can get sabs from a friend of mine, the prices are regular (F.E. an AAX-xcelerator price $180 in massmusic, his price here $240; AA pack (hats, splash, ride, crash, bag) $580-$600) it's a nice price for the pro series that i can't find in here

taman4life 02-04-2006 12:15 PM

hey im looking for a splash with a crisp sound and quick decay, and pretty versatile because i play a bunch different styles of music, thanks for any feed back.

saars 02-04-2006 02:14 PM

Which should I replace first: my 14" ZXT hats with 13" new beats; my 20" ZXT ride with an A sweet ride; or my 14" ZXT crash with an 18" HHX stage crash?

I know I should replace in order of cymbal crapiness, but they all sound crappy to me. Plus, I have enough money to buy either the hats, the ride, or the crash, so I'm confused on what to buy first

HeLLmO 02-04-2006 02:19 PM

i'd say hats, then ride, then crash

Seafroggys 02-04-2006 02:21 PM

NEW BEATS!

saars 02-04-2006 03:08 PM

ok, thanks. Now, what's the significance of the 13" size? I'm just curious, since a lot of people here like it.

Seafroggys 02-04-2006 09:46 PM

Nothing's signifacant about the 13".

Now the 14" on the other hand.......

saars 02-04-2006 10:24 PM

Ok, 14" it is.

chewaz 02-04-2006 10:40 PM

new beat is like the AA regular right?
