newwww alkaline trio song!

my boyfriend was playing the new offroad fury pro game on PSP when i overheard an alkaline trio song ive never heard before. im a huge alkaline trio fan and i was pumped to find out they wrote a new song for the soundtrack. i played the game all weekend to hear the rest of the soundtrack and not only do they have other bands like senses fail and rock kills kid, but the game is unreal. does anyone know anything about playstation soundtracks? do they get released? i found some clips of the songs on the game's website (www.atvoffroadfurypro.com)

Hi My Name Is Mark 10-30-2006 05:28 PM

we can never break up? that was released on the Masters of Horror album. if i remember correctly, it's got a lot of good bands, but i havent looked at who all is on it in a while, and i dont own it. however, if you just want that song you can purchase it on iTunes. just search for We Can Never Break Up, and it should have 2 copies, one is album only, and one is $.99, if you live in the US.

Surtr 10-30-2006 05:29 PM

That's a sweet song, but it's not new.

Hi My Name Is Mark 10-30-2006 05:37 PM

i'm pretty sure they don't have anything new and won't until like december...i think that's when the re-release of Goddamnit comes out? but technically, other than band footage, that stuff isn't new...just never released from the band in stores as far as i know. i'm still excited anyway. and i think they're going to start recording another album around december or the beginning of 2007.

WHOA. I'm still the highest poster in this thread. Word to that.

News from the Bloodpact...

Derek reckons the DVD/CD tie in relases should be done by the end of January, but its not a garrunteed thing. However... live version of Some Kinda Love by the Misfits going straight into Radio is the SEX people.

Can't stop listening to Stupid Kid. I'm suddenly and randomly big into FHTI.

Probs from sitting next to me at college for 2 years.

Yeah. You've finally infected me with something I don't have to go to the clinic to test for.

C'est bon!
I love Enjoy Your Day.
Dan's voice really makes that song amazing, in my opinion.
he walks a fine line between sincerity and sarcasm in that song and i can't tell the difference at certain points

<3 Dan 4e.

I wanted to catch his recent acoustic tour with Chris from Saves the Day but sadly I couldn't. I haven't heard his solo stuff in many a year :upset:

Oz Rembrandt 11-14-2006 03:00 PM

For me, Dan is by far the stronger singer. He's so sweet and bitter at the same time. His voice has such a clarity and purity... everything he writes is gold.

simplephotographinthesun 11-16-2006 12:54 AM

dan absolutely kills me on the Maybe I'll Catch Fire record, primarily on She Took Him to the Lake...god damn... *runs to search for his MICF cd*

Oz Rembrandt 11-16-2006 02:29 PM

MICF... sigh, since Matt and Glenn were falling out all the time (leading to Glenn's departure), the album is really Dan's. Its the only album named after a title track, and its one of Dan's. It may be Dan's only single... but I'm not sure.

Hi My Name Is Mark 11-16-2006 05:24 PM

do you know what Glenn's doing now? or is he just some amazing drummer that nobody seems to know now?

Oz Rembrandt 11-16-2006 05:48 PM

Well, on the DVD commentary for At the Metro, Derek says he met up with Glenn, who was drumming in some other band, and doing some producing I think. Derek worships the guys work.

Hi My Name Is Mark 11-16-2006 06:16 PM

yeah, he loves Alk3's previous 2 (recording) drummer's work. i think he said something about Take Lots With Alcohol (Felumlee) being one of their most fun drum songs or something. it is a very fun drum song.

do you know where i can find any videos of them performing sundials? or do they not ever perform it? cause that's like the only song i've never been able to play all the way through on drums by them, and i'd love to see it live.

Oz Rembrandt 11-19-2006 02:56 PM

I've yet to see them play Sun Dials live, on the 3 Live DVD's I've seen. Its a pretty old song... they might not feel the need to play it anymore. It may be on the upcoming DVD though, since that has the Goddammit tour on it...

ive seen them 5 times and seen 2 live performances and theyve never played it so i htink you might be out of luck. it would need to be pretty old. tbh i think its one of thier worst songs.

Hi My Name Is Mark 11-19-2006 03:27 PM

the dvd is in the re-release of Goddamnit right?

i love that song. especially the drum part immediately after all the singing's done.

Oz Rembrandt 11-19-2006 03:28 PM

Infact, Sundials may be a song that was recorded with the very original line up, with Rob Doran on Bass and Glenn on Drums.

lunchforthesky 11-19-2006 03:32 PM

it is.

Oz Rembrandt 11-19-2006 03:33 PM

Thought so. Not all the songs off the S/T album are, and I couldn't remember of the top of my head.

Its possible that Dan and Derek just don't know the song then, or never learnt it that definitively

lunchforthesky 11-19-2006 03:38 PM

i think that the songs at the end are if im correct. like 97' and stuff. but thats one of my fav songs by them.

Hi My Name Is Mark 11-19-2006 04:40 PM

'97 may be one of the best off self-titled...or maybe nose over tail...the whole cd's damn good.

lunchforthesky 11-19-2006 04:44 PM

i dont listen to that nose over tail though because the goddamnit version is so much better. my friend peter, bleeder, goodbye forever, cooking wine all good songs.

Oz Rembrandt 11-19-2006 04:56 PM

Hmm... the bassline for the S/T Nose Over Tail is better than Dan's...

Best song off the Alkaline Trio is still Goodbye Forever for me.

Hi My Name Is Mark 11-19-2006 05:11 PM

my friend told me that the Goodbye Forever video is what got him washing his face every day haha. and yeah, the recording quality for Nose Over Tail is better on Goddamnit, but both versions are good.

what happened to Rob anyway?

Oz Rembrandt 11-20-2006 08:02 AM

I'm not entirely sure. I know Glenn left due to differences between him and Matt...

Streaming the whole of Remains, till it comes out i presume.

lunchforthesky 01-24-2007 04:10 PM

Yeah i saw that earlier, it's B-sides though so ive got them all already

simplephotographinthesun 01-25-2007 01:27 PM

ah, i haven't heard "If You Had a Bad Time" in so long. one of the rare uplifting alk3 tunes for me :p

Hi My Name Is Mark 01-25-2007 02:48 PM

When's the re-release of Goddamnit supposed to come out?

lunchforthesky 01-26-2007 04:03 AM

I thought they rereleased it years ago.

Hi My Name Is Mark 01-26-2007 05:02 AM

No, they were talking about re-releasing it sometime soon with remastered demos, new artwork, comments from the original members about each song, and a possible bonus DVD, but it was still the Goddamnit CD, not Remains I believe...

hey, you're not cory! 04-22-2008 03:26 PM

BAH!

THey have an EP with three songs off their new album coming out today. Figured like a proper time to bump.

Sep 06-28-2008 01:47 PM

Listening to the new album for the first time now. It's pretty dark but pretty damn sweet so far.

DJ Ducksauce 06-28-2008 02:15 PM

Haha whoa it's Sep! :amaze:

I listened to some of Crimson for the first time in a while today when I had my iPod on shuffle. :)

pixiesfanyo 06-28-2008 05:37 PM

i've liked what i've heard from the new album. seems like a step up from Crimson... god, that was a terrible record.

DJ Ducksauce 06-28-2008 07:05 PM

I actually didn't mind it, but I have pretty tolerable ears.

Haven't heard the new CD yet.

Sep 06-29-2008 12:54 PM

first half of crimson had some sweet songs overall it was pretty god damn mediocre. And i like it that some people remember me. :)

DJ Ducksauce 06-29-2008 11:16 PM

Haha well I never really got to the last half of Crimson every time I listened. Always had something interrupt or wasn't paying much attention by then. And well you did win PPotM wayyy back when. :p
