He does the last solo on Holy Wars

Huber 05-02-2005 02:11 PM

He does some on Hanger 18. I saw the live video on Launch. That's all I know.

MAthiAS 05-02-2005 02:13 PM

In Hangar 18 he does that one really fast tremolo one.

Chu 05-02-2005 02:43 PM
Nah, I'd never put a Metallica member in my avatar, its Michael Stipe back when he had hair.
Go back to your old avatar! That was cool :P

DisposableHeroes 05-02-2005 03:16 PM

hehe, the lyrics to Liar are a bit mean :p

VicRattlehead99 05-02-2005 03:21 PM

do you guys realize how ard it is to sing and keep a beat then turn around and pull off a solo that is why i think dave mustaine is is good plus he is so into his work he takes every thing so seriusly then afterwards can be the coolest dude there is.

munky_magik 05-02-2005 03:28 PM

Once you've played the songs as often as he has, and practiced as hard as he has it isn't that big an accomplishment. Also, Dave is probably one of the biggest assholes in the music business .

Chu 05-02-2005 03:31 PM
Dave is probably one of the biggest assholes in the music business .
How?

munky_magik 05-02-2005 03:32 PM

He talks such a load of shit and is generally a bastard to most people surrouding him.

Chu 05-02-2005 03:35 PM
He talks such a load of shit and is generally a bastard to most people surrouding him.
With reasin, I think.
But do you think you could give me an example of him talking ****? It's not that I doubt what you are saying, I really do respect your opinion, and trust you, but I haven't heard him talk **** or anything, so I'm kinda wondering if there's an example of this somewhere?

munky_magik 05-02-2005 03:38 PM

Well; You have all the times he's slagged of Slayer, Metallica etc...
The whole 'injured arm' ordeal, which he later said was just an excuse to disband the currentline up.
That Ellefson is an awful studio bassist that can't keep time.

Stuff like that.

Chu 05-02-2005 03:42 PM

That goes back to with reason I think.
I don't understand why he would slag Slayer, after all Kerry helped him get Megadeth on their feet, right?

Edit: Thanks man. Maybe he is a bit of an ******* :p
But he still is a pretty **** good musician.

munky_magik 05-02-2005 03:45 PM

There's been a massive feud between him and Slayer(mostly Kery King) for years now, I don't think anyone knows what it's about either.
I don't care what he's like, the man can write some hella mean riffage

Jev 05-02-2005 03:47 PM

Didn't he say he didn't want to argue with Metallica and Slayer after the death of Dimebag Darell?

Chu 05-02-2005 03:48 PM
Didn't he didn't want to argue over it anymore after the death of Dimebag Darell?
And he hasn't, or has he?
I guess the oppurtunity for him to argue with someone hasn't really come up since then.

He never said Dave Ellefson was a bad studio Bassist, he actually defended him many times when the producer and Marty Friedman wanted him replaced.

Five Magics 05-02-2005 07:09 PM

all this talk about playing Megadeth songs, is it true to think that most Megadeth fans are musicians? Because there music can get very technical, not to say that there aren't any fans who don't play any music

munky_magik 05-02-2005 07:16 PM
He never said Dave Ellefson was a bad studio Bassist, he actually defended him many times when the producer and Marty Friedman wanted him replaced.
After he and Ellefson split he said that he couldn't keep time for shit.
Once you've played the songs as often as he has, and practiced as hard as he has it isn't that big an accomplishment. Also, Dave is probably one of the biggest assholes in the music business .
Course you have to practice enough to get to that point though. I guess you could argue he wrote it so its gonna be easy for him, but hey, he writes killer riffs that's why he's awesome.

He might be an asshole, but I'd say he is one in the best possible sense of the word. A badass would be a better way to put it. Its not much of a coincidence that he was kicked out of Metallica and every Megadeth member over the years left.

ThrashMaster27 05-02-2005 07:43 PM
After he and Ellefson split he said that he couldn't keep time for shit.
Probably true. Still, doesn't stop him being a creative Bassist. A lot of people like Dave because of his attitude. I can't say it really bothers me really, I just think he's an amazing Guitarist.

Oh, do we have any Drummers here? I've recently picked up the drums and was wondering about a couple of the more easier 'Deth songs on Drums.

Rust in Peace...Polaris, for sure :p
On the remasters, Dave gives a little blurb about it (The demo version) and says the drum beat he wrote back in his 'Panic' days! Which says to me the guy could have been an accomplished drummer too.

Deth 05-03-2005 08:16 AM

With the feud between Mustaine and King, King is the one at fault. He even said in a recent magazine (I can't remember which) that Dave was a c0cksucker. That was his exact words.

Sleeper 05-03-2005 12:11 PM

There both amazing guitarists.

VicRattlehead99 05-03-2005 01:01 PM

Well does any one know what the fight between dave and king is about ?

That's what I could find on Mustaine vs. Slayer, from both perspectives. Dave doesn't really talk much about it though. Dave's a total badass in his interview though. Kerry comes off as a total hypocrite IMO, he says he doesn't care and then talks about it for a whole page.

Huber 05-03-2005 01:50 PM

Kerry King should just keep tape over his mouth.

Chu 05-03-2005 01:53 PM
There would be no sense in getting old members back, because if that happen then it would have to include David Ellefson (bass) and I shall never play with him again.
Bit harsh.

MAthiAS 05-03-2005 01:59 PM
Bit harsh.
That's not harsh, its not like he said "...and I'll never play with him again because he's a rhythmically impaired greedy asshole who can't write for shit and is every insult in Liar times two." He just said he wouldn't play with him again, didn't bash him.
Kerry King should just keep tape over his mouth.
And over his cueball.

I just finished both articles.
I guess it wasn't really that harsh, and they are musicians so yeah...
What is Ellefson doing these days anyway? I always thought he was a heaps good bassist.

I didn't really understand why King hates Mustaine?

1) King hates everyone except Slipknot.
2) It seems they had an arguement at Clash of the Titans.
3) Apparently Mustaine said something about King sucking at guitar. (Truth hurts.)

Yes it does! :)

I can't see why people like Slipknot, to be honest, just not my thing.

MAthiAS 05-03-2005 02:34 PM

Yeah, I'd expect a thrash figurehead to hate Slipknot, but then again, King's an idiot.

VicRattlehead99 05-03-2005 03:23 PM

Yeah king is not much of a guitarist anyway and slipknot is to socialized for me to like there not that bad but little 8-10 year olds listen to slipknot i just cant stand that.
And Elfeson i heard is with soulfly now.

Chu 05-03-2005 03:36 PM

The old Slipknot, like Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. I can listen to, I think it's their best work and they should have definately kept going in that direction, but I dunno.

RustedPieces 05-03-2005 03:49 PM

I can't stand Slipknot but Zakk Wylde said that their good musicians so i'll take his word for it.

VicRattlehead99 05-03-2005 03:52 PM

Really kerry king and zach wylde said slipknot was good a good band who else?

RustedPieces 05-03-2005 03:58 PM

Kerry King is an asshole.

MAthiAS 05-03-2005 05:13 PM

And while I respect Zakk as an artist, I don't agree with him that much.

RustedPieces 05-03-2005 06:30 PM

Same here

I own every megadeth album, and I still like slipknot.... you're trying to diss a band by saying 8-10 yr olds listen to them, you realize that half the people on this board aren't even 18, you are a RETARD and you've probably heard exactly 2 slipknot songs in your life
