This week I have been mostly diggin' The Mooney Suzuki

Tangy zizzle 01-19-2005 04:31 PM

Malcolm Mooney + Damo Suzuki = the Mooney Suzuki.

Tangy zizzle 01-19-2005 04:32 PM

I've been listening to a Suede album today.

It's either called "Nude" or just "Suede". I think it's self titled, but anyhoo.... These guys are rather nice.

I just discovered Explosions in the Sky. Very relaxing.

Tangy zizzle 01-19-2005 04:52 PM

Oi, you Mooney Suzuki fans.

I've never listened to them, do they sound like their name suggests?

Sorry i don't really know Malcolm Mooney + Damo Suzuki. But If you want to check TMS out try the songs 'Alive and Amplified' (their new single) and 'In a Young Man's Mind'. 2 very good songs.

Tangy zizzle 01-19-2005 04:56 PM

They took their name from the surnames of the first 2 singers from Can.

Do they sound like Can?
They took their name from the surnames of the first 2 singers from Can.

Do they sound like Can?
Well, considering Can are a timeless, classic, genre-bending kraut rock band, and the Mooney Suzuki are a garage rock/punk act riding the wave of current trends, I'm gonna go ahead and reply with a big "no".

There's a slight Can influence in their music, but I definitely can't say they sound like them.

Tangy zizzle 01-19-2005 07:00 PM

Well I've never listened to them before and seeing as though they have a fucken shrine as their name, I thought they'd be like a poor imitation.

Noone asked for a life story grandpa.

Happymeal 01-19-2005 07:45 PM

Before the Dawn Heals Us by M83 is class. Can't compare it with their other albums yet though.

br3ad_man 01-19-2005 08:19 PM

It's different from their other two and it's really good.

Check out my FA of them in Other Music

Actually, I've been listening to some of my Offspring albums, (The band that got me into music... Ah, good times) and of course, Sonic Youth, which forever seems stuck on my playlist.

Tapeworm 01-19-2005 10:04 PM

Finally getting into Built To Spill again.

br3ad_man 01-20-2005 02:53 AM

kirkrock85 01-21-2005 05:39 AM

I've been really hooked on Minus the Bear recently... just really good songs.

Tapeworm 01-21-2005 07:07 AM

Minus the Bear kick it. I was trying to explain the hilarity of their song/album titles to someone today and they didn't get it.

Rrazors3k 01-21-2005 09:31 AM

Prefuse 73
Spiritualized

thanks to Scott:)

YDload 01-21-2005 06:56 PM

Creed- Ode. It sounds like Alice In Chains, and if it were on their second or third album, they would probably have to water it down some more. You can actually hear the bassist, wuts ^ wif dat?

Ice Cube- It Was a Good Day. thanks GTA: San Andreas!

Minutemen- Don't Look Now. It's a cover of a John Fogerty song, but it's awesome.

el doctor 01-21-2005 07:42 PM

Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
Patton and Kaada - Romances
Frank Zappa - Zappa in New York

All albums I've felt like going back to listening to, along with all things Spoon.

Tangy zizzle 01-21-2005 07:54 PM

Bands I watched yesterday that YOU didn't.

The Fanatics
Deja Voodoo
Pluto
Kid 606
Le Tigre
Kid Koala
The Mint Chicks
Money Mark
Polyphonic Spree
Carl Cox
Dimmer
Hatebreed (through neccesity, not choice)
The motherfuckin' Blues Explosion.

You lose.

Little Man being Erased 01-21-2005 10:45 PM

I finally picked up Hot Snakes - Automatic Midnight and The Shins - Oh, Inverted World last week. Both bloody brilliant. And, I'm going to see The D4 tonight. I can't wait.

Little Man being Erased 01-21-2005 10:46 PM

Oh yeah, and I shall have the two new Bright Eyes albums in my hands in about half an hour.

Zappa 01-21-2005 10:49 PM

Fantastic album. It's too bad that band didn't do more work.

Tangy zizzle 01-21-2005 10:52 PM

Yeah Hot Snakes!

D4 = A good show.

Little Man being Erased 01-21-2005 10:58 PM

Yes it does. I saw them at livid a couple years back and they were climbing up the scafolding and jumping off stacks, it was awesome.

br3ad_man 01-21-2005 10:59 PM

I'm loving Explosions In The Sky thanks to Happymeal and that video that pixiesfanyo posted a while ago. I wish I hadn't taken so long to get around to them.

That's what I thought too after seeing that video. But they really didn't impress me THAT much. I just have to know WHAT SONG WERE THEY PLAYING?! In the record store? Please?

br3ad_man 01-21-2005 11:40 PM

mmm. I didn't actually watch the video, I just listened to the audio.
