^i'll agree (then canada, we have Healey :thumb: ).

Badmoon 08-10-2004 03:26 PM

See, I look for originality, and a couple of big name bands like The Who, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin don't change my mind. We have a huge variety of Classic Rock, they really don't.

Can any of you even name the bands that make them superior?

And no offense, but musically Canada's kind of sad.

BludgeonySteve 08-10-2004 03:30 PM

The Beatles!
And pink floyd.
Led Zeppelin
And eric clapton (cream too)
The Rolling Stones
The Yardbirds
Fleetwood Mac
Deep Purple
Jeff Beck
Yes
Supertramp
Dire Straits
Jethro Tull
The Who!!!!!!!!

Uhh yeah

Undiscovered God 08-10-2004 03:40 PM

Ive noticed a big uprise in classic rock in my school too. Ive always been a fan because thats what my parents pushed on me but even kids I know that used to listen to rap are starting to listen to AC\DC and such.

We've had this discussion before. I think I said to someone, ask some of those kids what there favorite Bad Company song is. Yeah, thats what I thought. It's just becoming a fad to like some of the more popular classic rock bands i.e. Led Zep and AC/DC.

Badmoon 08-10-2004 03:49 PM
Fleetwood Mac
Try again, they have Americans.

My list pwns yours

Neil Young
Guess Who
Rush

Canada isn't all that bad. Plus all the best Classic Rocks bands are from England and some are US. But Neil Young owns them anyways.

Buffalo springfield has a canadian! My list>your list. Plus I only put on the most well known bands.

Captain Beefheart
The Stooges
James Gang

These acts aren't as popular/well know (this isn't about personal taste) as bands like the grateful dead.

magicbus 08-10-2004 03:58 PM

Ok time to catch up:

I will check out American Beauty, thanks badmoon.
I prefer British Music over American Music, kinda indifferent with Canadian.
I like the Beatles.
Healy is blind so he probably doesn't know he has a mullet.

He wasn't originally part of the band.

Or, more like, you can barely name anymore.

I don't recall us saying who has more well known bands.

BludgeonySteve 08-10-2004 04:09 PM

I couldn't name very many more hugely popular bands.

Caaaaaaan you? I think not.

BludgeonySteve 08-10-2004 04:11 PM
I don't recall us saying who has more well known bands.
Yeah well it should be. Only well known bands.

Badmoon 08-10-2004 04:12 PM

Is that a fact? You couldn't even come close to how many I can name.

Against Miik! 08-10-2004 04:13 PM

Or me, seriously.

Badmoon 08-10-2004 04:14 PM

BludgeonySteve 08-10-2004 04:15 PM
Is that a fact? You couldn't even come close to how many I can name.
Yes I know. But I could name all of the biggest bands. All of the biggest bands from both have already been named.

Maybe we should get an un-bias judge.

Against Miik! 08-10-2004 04:15 PM

Popular=Good

Before the days of corporate sell outs and playing for, well, not for the music anyways.

BludgeonySteve 08-10-2004 04:16 PM
Popular > Good
If this was about personal music taste it wouldn't work. By listing only big acts it can be fair.

This is classic rock. In the time when only good bands got big (sorta, kiss comes to mind as an acception).

Badmoon 08-10-2004 04:17 PM

No, I won't be able to change your opinion, you can't change mine. No, judge can decide who's better either, because he'll have a favorite which probably can't be changed either.

BludgeonySteve 08-10-2004 04:19 PM

Fine. Anyway I like both. Just british bands in general i like a little bit more. yes i'm aware 3 out of 5 of the bands in my avatar are american, i'd like dvg to add some more bands but he died or something

No, most think that, but it's usually not true. Disco, Soul, Motown, Contemporary Folk, ect...Those usually ran the mainstream.

I wasn't alive then, but I usually think of Disco and and all that as like crappy rap and all that today. Hopefully, rock will win the war again, but people listen to both now as long as its on MTV, so there isn't really a war.

Disco was closer to pop. However it reminds me of mtv rap, All pretty much the same. Appealing music for the masses. Also the "dance club" music. As hip hop and rap are now.

Badmoon 08-10-2004 04:35 PM
Uhh yeah. hmmmm... :(
But of course The Beatles, Elvis, ect. Where mainstream.

magicbus 08-10-2004 05:26 PM

Yep.

Broken Arrow 08-10-2004 06:36 PM

What about April Wine Canadian and underrated.

JDMorrisonisGOD 08-10-2004 07:10 PM

Kids are startin to get into classic rock alot more, because they realize how ****ty the new rock is. The best (current) rock band according to the media, is Linkin Park. They suck nuts, they are all electric, hardly any true musicianship. the true best rock band of recent times is red hot chili peppers who have goten alot more mellow but are still kickin ***. Kids realize that no one now days plays guitar like hendrix, or page, or clapton, no one on drums like bonham, music is crap now days.

StreetlightRock 08-10-2004 07:57 PM

Moo. Im still alive! Dude, just tell me what ya need! ill try an do it. Oh yea, i reckon brit music is better. All round. Black Sabbath + Iron Maiden, masters of metal, Pink Floyd, masters of the phyc, Beatles...

DVG.

Badmoon 08-10-2004 08:10 PM

Most of Pink Floyd's stuff isn't psychedelic, and I think it's freaky how people label Syd Barret as a fabulous writer. "I've got a bike you can ride it if you'd like", how is that good? Plus they didn't even invent the genre.

Could you add these two pictures to my current avatar? And take out hte zeppelin. It's a little overdone. I still love zeppelin but it doesn't need to be in my avatar

Breaking Classic Rock barriers ehh?

(with Healy on the C.r avatar)

BludgeonySteve 08-10-2004 08:24 PM

What do you mean rock barriers?

Badmoon 08-10-2004 08:25 PM

Classic Rock, or you're changing things up for the genre. Being that Healy isn't exactly Classic Rock, but it doesn't matter :)

BludgeonySteve 08-10-2004 08:28 PM

His first 2 albums were on vinyl so it counts. :thumb:. 1985 is classic enough.

Badmoon 08-10-2004 08:33 PM

You Can't Change The Rules!!!!!

BludgeonySteve 08-10-2004 08:41 PM

There are no rules! ;) 1985 is classic. Healey is classic. Unless you're going write some rules for what makes a classic rock band healey is classic.

Got it? goooooood

kthxbye

Uhh yeah.

I like the doors :)
