haven't gotten to it yet, just throbbing gristle, monte, sordide, johanna went and NON

most people had some interesting things to say except maybe for cazazza and p-orridge

Meatplow 02-26-2010 02:17 PM

Pauline was the most interesting to me, mainly because he didn't really have anything to do with music at all he just made cool destructive machines out of stolen parts and dead rabbits for performance art.

Boyd Rice's section was good. I want to read these RE/Search publications, he had some level of involvement -

Boyd Rice had some cool insights about music

Johanna Went is best tho, everything she said made me lol

Txus 02-26-2010 02:51 PM

What are you guys talking about? Documentary or what?

I saw one about noise music not too long ago, it was decent.

that looks like a cool read

anyone into darker stuff like Gnaw their tongues?

Txus 02-26-2010 03:04 PM

Yeah, me. You should check out Grunt, Ronald.

Gnaw Their Tongues are above eliteness, his new album(All the Dread Magnificence of Perversity) was incredible, definitely his best stuff to date. The dude's black metal band is also pretty good.

RouteOne 02-26-2010 03:12 PM

I actually didn't know he had a BM band

Txus 02-26-2010 03:21 PM

What did you think of All the Dread Magnificence of Perversity? I thought it was a big progression for him and I like the path he is taking with music right now. The production on that album is perfect.

His BM project is called De Magia Veterum, I only have one album but it's pretty neat.

I basically think the same thing. I can't wait for his new split to come out.

I'll check out his band too

Txus 02-26-2010 03:27 PM

And check out Grunt, it's like Gnaw Their Tongues but more noisy!

I love all that type of ****.

Listening to Genocide Organ right now, heil

Meatplow 02-26-2010 03:32 PM
that looks like a cool read
It is but it's probably a bit outdated, I need to find out if there is a better modern resource.

Jaundice 02-26-2010 10:13 PM

I'd actually rather not know what happened to industrial music after the 90's

Meatplow 02-26-2010 10:28 PM

Even so the book was published in 1983, though it covers the first few key artists of the movement well enough first wave had only just taken off. It also neglects some of the interesting stuff happening elsewhere (Maurizio Bianchi, Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft, Test Dept, Die Form, Severed Heads etc.).

I'd like to see a comprehensive overview of the entire first wave period, its difficult to pinpoint exactly when it ended but surely during the latter part of the 80's.

the2stranger 02-27-2010 12:57 PM

Anyone of you into Efterklang?
They play in my city in may. I think I'll go.
I only have their first album, never bothered to check any other stuff, even though the album I have is quality stuff.

Nepenthe 02-27-2010 05:13 PM

efterklang is great

Meatplow 03-01-2010 01:43 AM

Yeah, digging it quite a bit.

I need to catch up on all their material i've missed out on.

Epidemechanical 03-01-2010 01:44 AM

they're the str8 masters of EBM nobody comes close

i love how all the old 90s industrial bands are progressing into the fuzzy/distorto/electro field with more melodic vocals

Meatplow 03-01-2010 04:48 AM

listening to the second disc of that OHM early electronic music collection

sounds like me just jamming on my keyboard in ableton live with some sinewaves

Aaron 03-01-2010 04:51 AM

Might be doing some remixing for a few local artists, and then gigging the results with them live. Intriguing.
