xMalcolmXx 04-21-2010 02:53 PM

2 Many DJ's - As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt. 2

Girl Talk ripped his entire style from these guys, only this is actually listenable.

You desperately need The Girl in the Velvet Underground Shirt : The Pink and Yellow Story

The mash-up elements are usually rather subtle but there are some songs that are nothing but obvious beat splicing

Meatplow 04-21-2010 04:27 PM

get The Avalanches, Liam

what are the essential/best dub albums?

my friend has been going on about dub recently and want to see if I can get into it, too.

Spec 04-21-2010 07:26 PM

Is The Used any good? My friend says they are but I don't really like them. Is there an album I should listen to?

xMalcolmXx 04-21-2010 07:30 PM

nah.

Jacob Miller - Who Say Jah No Dread (The King Tubby dub mixes on it are great)
Augustus Pablo - King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown

Dub is just reggae, it's hardly its own subgenre. Just look into some key names like Tubby, Pablo and Perry and go from there.

Spec 04-21-2010 09:39 PM

I can't think of a ****ing reason to get out of bed anymore.

give me some dark *** music to suit my mood

Jaundice 04-21-2010 09:41 PM

Weezer - Pinkerton, Make Believe, The Blue Album
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over the Sea
All-American Rejects - Same Girl, New Songs

the combination of these should be enough to convince you to put a bullet in your head

Spec 04-21-2010 09:43 PM

Not a fan of any of them to be honest.

Maybe some good depressing metal to listen to before i shoot myself

Jaundice 04-21-2010 09:46 PM

Metal music could not possibly have any emotional content whatsoever. It's impossible.

Except maybe Metallica's The Black Album, I've probably cried myself to sleep listening to that way more than I'd like to admit.

Spec 04-21-2010 09:49 PM

Architects, Misery Signals, Killswitch Engage... plenty of emotion

I used to find minor scale chugga chugga stuff emotional when I was younger so I guess I can see where you're coming from

oh alex haha

Jaundice 04-21-2010 10:26 PM

There's like, an exact specific type of song that affects me emotionally and all other types of music seem equally irrelevant to emotion.

rasputin 04-21-2010 10:29 PM

you're so deep and cold, man

Jaundice 04-21-2010 10:31 PM

It's pretty hard to claim to be dark and cold when you think the epitome of a tearjerker is Swing Swing by All-American Rejects.

rasputin 04-21-2010 10:44 PM

touche

The Feeding 04-22-2010 04:04 PM

what MxPx album should I get first?

Tyler 04-22-2010 04:06 PM

You shouldn't.

But as someone who listened to them when he was 12, either Pokinatcha or Teenage Politics if you want their faster, more fun stuff and Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo or The Ever Passing Moment if you want their slower ****.

But honestly, I wouldn't bother with them.
