Yeah, I just checked. Jugaband Blues is the only song credited to Syd on the album. Rick actually wrote See-Saw, and sings on it. He does sound remarkably like Syd, even on his solo stuff, now that I think of it.
I read that Syd actually had much more to do with SoS than he's credited for. At least that's what Malcolm Jones (the guy who produced around half of Syd's first solo-album) says in his summary of the recording of The Madcap Laughs... |
I tried that a while ago, and...well...there were a few things that possibly could have worked, but overall it seemed a bit vague. I guess you have to be high or something. And I-quite frankly-aren't that cool.
Really? I've done it a few times (not the least bit high) and I was amazed actually. |
I finally went out and bought Obscurred By Clouds today, and oh my life is this album a dark horse or what!? It is not exactly discussed a lot, but it rocks! :thumb:
|
Obscurred By Clouds is pretty awesome, not a bad song on there. My favorite is "Mudmen", but "Childhood's End" has the coolest solo.
I think this is this only Floyd album I bought before hearing. |

That reminds me that I still don't have that album. It's the only one I still need I believe.

To Riva,
A bit of a Wright fanboy are we? He really does not get enough credit for his work in Pink Floyd, without him Wish You Were Here wouldn't be half the album it is today. |

i read somewhere he wrote san tropez; great song
though he doesnt sing in it obviusly.... |
Roger wrote San Tropez I believe. I also love Rick. Us and Them, Great Gig in the Sky, Remember a Day, Wearing the Inside Out...
What a gun. |
I just absolutely adore Us and Them, the sax solo is kinda orgasmic :thumb:. Probably my fave song on DSOTM actually, with Great Gig In The Sky closely following ... actually, when I was on a field trip in Swansea last week I saw a guy who looked remarkably similar to Rick Wright ...
|
I just heard High Hopes for the first time. That's a killer song.

What a gun.
Remember A Day is like my favorite Floyd song. Props to Rick  |
Why do all the members of Pink Floyd have such similar voices..?
I can never tell who is singing... |
Why do all the members of Pink Floyd have such similar voices..?
I can never tell who is singing...
Waters and Gilmour have two very different voices, and Wright is like a mix between Waters and Gilmour... So Wrights voice always confuses me. |
Vinyl pickups of the day... Saucerful of Secrets, Animals, Atom Heart Mother...thank you random record shop in NYC!! They also had an original pressing mint condition Piper at the Gates of Dawn, but were selling it for $65 and I didn't have the money. Oh well
|
Listen to Corporal Clegg or Dogs to here the difference between Waters and Gilmour.
Wright sounds a bit like Barrett, but you can pick out the difference. |

That's true. Gilmour's kept his voice, but Roger has really lost his, if Live8 was anything to go by.
|
@Riva, Gilmour lost it too ;) it's a shame, he hasn't lost it completely but some of it, heard a few mistakes on his singing in may ... But he was still great
|
Gilmour has a larger vocal range than Waters, but almost always sung in a softer, almost swoony vox. Waters' voice has always had more of a "bite" to it, even when singing softly. It's harder and more solid than Gilmour's for the most part. Wright has a very deep, throaty voice in all truth, coupled with the British accent it's great. PF's at their best when Gilmour and Wright sing in harmony (i.e. Echoes), their voices meld perfectly.
I was at Target the other day recently after PULSE came out (I'm at camp, it was a quick run to-and-back), but they were OUT! :( And it was so cheap... :upset: I got The Blues Brothers instead though :D Killer movie... |

Very cool movie.
Has anyone heard Wright's solo work? I love it. |
haha, The Live8 gig is pretty good, but Waters' voice is gone. Too bad.
but he's an idiot. yet, a music mastermind. The P.U.L.S.E. dvd is hella good. worth the buy. |
I also put in a P*U*L*S*E DVD recommendation to anyone who hasn't got it yet. Some of the performances are sheer class. Plenty of Division Bell stuff too, which I like.
