No, I made the avatar and I slow songs down on GP too. :thumb:
wow, that's sweet. How did you make it? I was also going to ask anyone if they know how to make motion avatars from a video on the computer or something. |

I made it with photoshop. I don't really know how to make one from a video but I could try to figure it out. |
It's arpeggios and taps which are easy to play fast, you can do it.
Arps are not easy if you play them properly. Some 5+ year players can't even play arps any good at all. Anyway, on the topic of arpeggios, I've been worked on mine a lot today and i'm getting them up to speed. |
Forgive me for asking this, but how exactly do you do arpeggios with a pick? I'm doing them with fingerpicking and they aren't too bad.
|
This just in...
Bodom's genre along with Norther, Kalmah, Skyfire, Imperanon, etc. is no longer Power/Speed with harsh vocals cause thats too hard to say, it is Extreme Power Metal. |

Alright, if you have an arpeggio like this: E--------14-18p-14--------------------------- B-----16-----------16--------------------- Repeat G--15----------------------------------- You downpick the 15, 16, and 14 with a solid motion. It's almost like strumming a chord, but each note is played seperately. You up-pick the 18 and then pull off to the 14, and up-pick the 16. Then repeat. If you need more help then just ask. |

Do you have powertab? I could make you some lessons. |

I do, and please don't if it's too much trouble. I was just wondering if you had any already tabbed out. |

Don't worry about it, i'll be more than happy to type out a lesson for you. I'll post it in a little while. |

Here you go:
http://www.musicianalliance.net/tabs/Leah's%20Lesson.ptb NOTES: The positions of the arpeggios are just examples made to help develop your technique, you can move them up or down to wherever you want. I'd suggest trying them all over the fretboard. Make sure you mute the note right before you play the next one. Don't forget to keep your picking very smooth and fluent. Don't force yourself to pick hard, just let it glide over the strings. I'll make more lessons whenever you feel comfortable doing these. |

I can always use this stuff. I've just started doing some classical guitar stuff, and fingerpicking arpeggios are the only ones I know. |

You're welcome. Don't forget to stay in perfect time and keep the notes clean. Distortion usually helps with cleaning up the muting part of it. |
That's where I'm at. I'm learning the part of Bed of Razors right now thats way up to the 19th, and my guitar is squaking all over the place. It sounds ok though. Playing fast is the hard part. I lowered the timing on Bed of Razors on GuitarPro from 137 to 105. :p I'm probably at 115 now though.
John - did Josh make your avatar? It's awesome! :thumb: Bam Margera. Yeah. That pissed me off. Now all these Bam-boppers are going to love Children of Bodom. *puke* Christ, I hope not.
I see what you're saying, cause they don't really care about the music, but it might not be so bad, maybe listening to CoB will introduce them to good music...as opposed to the pop punk most of them are into. |

Ive been writing a little classical stuff and tabbing it too :thumb: Thanks for the arpeggio exercise Josh. I needed it :D |
I just realized, I've looked at the guitar pro for every single Bodom song...
|
Random mp3's have been dissapearing from my computer lately, and Sixpounder happend to be a victim. Anyone wanna upload it for me?
|
Ill do that now...

My God, sweep picking is such a pain in the ***. It makes me wonder how much they've practiced them when guys like Alexi can sweep up and down constantly.
|
I'm pretty novice at sweep picking. I'm ok at 3 string sweeps, and I can do 5 string sweeps one direction.
|
I'm not too bad at it. I've been practicing several sweep picking arpeggios for some time now and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I've been sweeping across all six strings as well as changing directions, but I've still got a ways to go before I can sweep like most metal guys can.
|
I'm not sure I want to work on sweeping at all. I mean it sounds really cool but as far as the songs I write idk if it'd fit. I guess it could open some new doors so I should try it out.
|
I would use it sparingly if I tried to really write songs. I only practice them as much as I do because many bands I love use it quite a bit, and as a guitarist, I'd like to master as many aspects of the instrument as I can.
|
I tried sweeping once and dropped my guitar. It wasn't cool.
|
i was going to start learning to sweep...but i really should learn some theory first, im pretty much another kerry king when it comes to theory
