Hehe Moaner.
Some fashioncore kid tried to slag me off so I destroyed him with 1 email :)
I suppose it's hard to come back with an insult when someones just pointed out that by definition, you cross dress.

The sentence 'One of the key factors of being in a band is heart, that ain't something you'll see on the tony and guy price list or in your sisters warddrobe'
was used :p

Stuff9238 02-24-2006 05:34 PM

greatest victory -> battle not fought?

or was he saying that Nail it In are posers?

Diatonic Dissonance™ 02-24-2006 05:57 PM
Haha nice Gav. I love psychology too, but I couldn't fit it in as a class :(.

Aww, I hate it when people leave for overseas. It's so hard to keep in contact sometimes. Speaking of that, how's your sister going? Getting back on her feet?

Haha I just checked the weather report. So much for 35C weekend.
/shall never listen to weather as told by other kids at school again
The only downside is breaking it to the music styles teacher because she really loves me and like begged me to be in her class :(.

Nah he was in a strop cause his band are refusing to give their ex guitarist his stack and guitar back whilst claiming it's because they'll have to pay to go down to the practice room to get it out. Which is a load of crap because they've been using his gear and they're just doing it to try and stop him from playing with any other bands, other than that they're generally just ragging on the guy. But then the second you say a word to them it's 'wah wah wah don't pick on us'.

Is the reason he'd have to pay to get it back because the fashion kids spent all their money on haircuts and owe the practise rooms for the time they've used, by any chance?

Trigger_003 02-26-2006 01:20 AM

(Aes: ) Ah, that's good. Shame she's doing it tough still though. I'm guessing she doesn't have any intentions of coming back here to live any time soon?

No fun Gav. I think my music teacher likes me for the sole purpose of her not being able to teach me anything so she gives me jobs to do instead...

Oh and guess what? We have to go all the way down to Phillip Island (~2 hour trip each way - when we could've otherwise walked the 5 minutes to junior campus) to play 12 bars each on our individual instruments to the year 7s - while they eat dinner. On camp. C'mon, how many of them will shut up for that?
And this is even though everyone who was interested in playing has already come to the expo night and signed up.
And I can't take my surfboard :upset:

Diatonic Dissonance™ 02-27-2006 08:30 PM

Chris omg i have gossip for you. emessen

Diatonic Dissonance™ 03-01-2006 01:43 AM

I have officially been set a challenge from my music class.

The school record is 98% on a grade five test. I'm going for higher than that.

I reckon I can do 100% grade six (I have until the end of next year). What do you think? Grade six is counterpoint I think. Woo.

Aes820 03-01-2006 02:06 AM

I just bought a new digital camera... She's a flash one ay.

Trigger_003 03-01-2006 02:09 AM

Woah, jeez Chris
Far out, that's horrible :(.
EDIT: (that was to Moaner). What kinda camera Aes?

Nah Amit I haven't - no time at the moment.

wtf are you busy with

arent you in high school

Trigger_003 03-01-2006 03:16 PM

Yeah, but I'm in the final years of high school so it's getting to the stage where I'm doing 2.30/3 hours study a night, at least 1:30 trombone, along with trying to fit guitar in. Plus one of my bands has loads of gigs at the moment. I've hardly had any time online at all lately.
But holidays are coming up in a bit more than a week - I'll probably get it then :).

How's college treating you?

Atomic Rain 03-01-2006 04:04 PM

When I was about your age I got an entire spread of As and A*s and I only revised during the easter holiday before my exams and during study leave

Aes820 03-01-2006 04:13 PM

When I was about Trea's age I'd take off from school every afternoon and skate.

I'd go alright in the classes that I actually liked. But most of the time it was C - Bs.

Trigger_003 03-02-2006 12:10 AM

Haha, yeah, a lot of people are like "What the heck? Why do YOU need to study?"
I'm pretty much a straight A's student and was without all the study, but I don't trust my school results in comparison to the rest of the state. A lot of people who are up around the A mark at my school end up with bad ENTER and Study Scores because they've fallen into the false sense of security that they are going to get where they want to just because of their high in-school results.
I don't know of anyone else at my school that studies when they don't need to... maybe this one guy... it's not exactly a stimulated environment.

But hey, I get out, I party, I surf, I jam - it's not like all I do is sit at home with books (I couldn't stand that).

So what's going on with everyone these days?
Haha, we did this really crazy thing in linguistics today... I'll go and scan it for you guys.

I think you remind me a bit like my good mate Al.

He parties alot, he surfs alot, and would never let study get in the way of an excuse for a social occasion.
But he's a smart one, he Duxed right through school and college and honoured Uni. Now he's doing Telecommunication Engineering. So he's doing alright for himself. I'm sure you will too, Trea.

Trigger_003 03-02-2006 01:58 AM

Hehe thanks Chris :)

Still loving work as much as you were? What are you working on these days?

Aes820 03-02-2006 02:37 AM

Yeah mate. Work is great.

We've got another scheduled update for the youthweek site happening tomorrow.
And I've been setting up some more online voting stuff for that site as well, but that's not going to go live until mid April. But it's always handy to be prepared.

The other week I made up some Dreamweaver templates for external document conversion people to use. Like they take a printed document, html it and put it into these templates. We got a report that had had this done to it back today. I gave it a check and it looks alright. A couple of very minor issues, but I'll be able to publish that online tomorrow.
It's not going to pass full accessability testing, but it will pass all Priority 1s (the important ones) and most Priority 2s. So we're happy.

I met back up again with another design company lot who are also going to be doing some document conversion for us earlier this week. But they are starting from scratch, they arn't going to use my templates. They showed us their ideas and they sound good, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

We made some mods to a search engine of ours. Out main Internet site uses a Verity search engine. And we wanted to make it look more like 'ours' instead of the stock standard 'Ultraseek v3.5' results page.
So that really just involved whacking a few div tags in amongst the python code and letting css handle it all. But it's just amazing all the hoops we have to jump through to get these little changes implemented.

We're setting up a website that's due to replace a couple of ones that we've currently got and that's just ticking along slowly. But it has to all done by June, as it's actually a little part to a bigger response plan for this whole Bird Flu thing that's going on. Most of the hard stuff is done tho, so we'll get there easilly.

There's lots of other little projects as well.
Although there is some bigger things in the pipeline that's due to come up later this year.
And judging by what is coming up, I guess we can call now the 'quiet time'.

Exciting. Fun.. :)

10th man down 03-02-2006 02:51 AM

Damn my life is boring!

AES, if you have time could you tell me a little bit about the process of getting into your line of work? Y'know, web shizzle, ect...

Aes820 03-03-2006 06:34 AM

I did a Design course at tech. Then a multimedia diploma course.
Both of these courses were really very easy but they both gave me a bit of paper that I was able to use towards a resume.
With those two bits of paper, the hardest part then was getting experience.
I guess no-one is all that keen to take on a newb.
But I signed up to an IT contracting company, stayed on good terms with them, and they got me into doing 3-4 years or so worth of 6 months contracts working on various projects. Starting off small and building up, you know?

Now I like to think that I'm handeling much bigger projects.

But I think that once you're in, you're set.The hardest bit is to actually get in and get started.

But just provided that you're good at what you do and that you're up to speed with current standards and guidelines you'll be right.

I think that if you are in an interview situation and you really have to sell yourself, reassure them that not only can you make a functional and useful product but also with a high level of useability and accessability.

Like, Sure I work with websites. But the purpose of a website is to communicate a message. And that message should come first and foremost.

Atomic Rain 03-03-2006 05:08 PM

Good news!

My friend Tom (the one who was in the accident)'s shoulders have been twitching after like, 12 hours of surgery.

There's also an operation scheduled on his pelvis i think, but whether that means there's a chance of him regaining some leg movement or they're just sorting out the bones down there i don't know.
