Yeah, they aren't great on WATW.

But then again they've been no good since 1990, and even on Seasons and SOH they weren't the best. :-|
I only like a few of the songs off their newer albums.

Overt Enemy(actually one of my favorites of theirs), Bloodline, Disciple, Cast Down, Devience, Bitter Peace, Screaming From The Sky and a couple others.

I know they play E flat on the older stuff but the newer albums sound like they could be downtuned. Maybe it's just the totally different, much heavier tone?

Bazarov 03-06-2006 08:32 PM

I don't know what they went to on Diabolus in Musica, but they went all the way to B on God Hates Us All.

Bitter Peace is actually a pretty good song.
Poofy, aren't you Canadian?
haha no, I'm 100% Mexican :)

I do know a Canadian person

Crap man, this whole time I've been thinking you were Canadian. Well then, nevermind.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-06-2006 09:57 PM

I know for a fact they tuned down further than E flat on GHUA. I'm not sure about Diabolous.

Both albums sound tuned down. It takes away from what they used to sound like though. I don't know, it doesn't work for me.

Magero666 03-07-2006 05:48 AM

Im pretty sure the tuning is C#...i think...

SimonCore 03-07-2006 10:16 AM
If I remember right, that note he holds on Angel Of Death. :thumb:

I never have thought he's bad. He's not great, far from bad though. IMO
Oh don't get me wrong on the the CD's he's good but live he's terrible. IMO if a singer can't perform live he's not that good.

SimonCore 03-07-2006 10:20 AM

I'm not to sure about Diabolous but i think only a few songs are tuned down to C. And they're are Disciple, God send death, bloodline, Here comes the pain. They're may be others but i don't know for sure. I expected New Faith to be futher down but it's actually in Eflat. :)

Beat me to it. I was going to ask if you were going. Did you see them at Soma last year?

I'm Charming 03-07-2006 07:27 PM

07/16 - Salem, OR @ Salem Armory

You had to remind me that they are going to Salem and NOT Portland of course right?

Bazarov 03-07-2006 07:28 PM

Is Salem quite a distance from Portland?

I'm Charming 03-07-2006 07:29 PM
Is Salem quite a distance from Portland?
Hour and a half. Prolly two if there's traffic.

South of Portland, capital of Oregon FTR.

Bazarov 03-07-2006 07:32 PM

That really isn't too bad. I have a friend who is a huge dream theater fan boy, this weekend he's driving up to LA which is about 2 hours on a good traffic day to see them. Plus he's got tickets to see them in New York this summer. But I guess it's all about transportation and who can supply you with a ride if you cannot give yourself.
Beat me to it. I was going to ask if you were going. Did you see them at Soma last year?
Nah, i missed them last year. That´s why i´m so excited, this is gonna be my first slayer concert.

Bazarov 03-07-2006 08:02 PM

Cool yeah. You'll have a blast. Tickets are on sale this Friday, I know the concert won't sell out until possibly a few weeks till the day of the event, but I have this thing about buying tickets the first day they go on sale.

SimonCore 03-08-2006 12:04 PM

Do they do the big Arenas in USA?

burn_my_eyes 03-08-2006 12:09 PM

I saw them play at a festival last year in England, was pretty cool since it was the 1st time i've seen Slayer.
The pit looked kind of scary, so I stayed out but watched from the sides.
They do quite big venues in england, they did last time they played which was the tour with slipknot.

SimonCore 03-08-2006 12:13 PM

King did say theyre doing some European dates right?

I love Slayer mosh pits, they are the best I've ever been in, except maybe Lamb of God. Was it Download you saw them at? I was there. And saw them when they toured with Slipknot as well.

Bazarov 03-08-2006 05:29 PM
Do they do the big Arenas in USA?
They probably have in the past. But when I saw them, it was a small venue it only holds around 2500 people. And the I think the Sports Arena (where I'm going to see them this time) holds I think 15-20,000 people.

I like having my teeth in my mouth. :p People where coming out with blood all over their faces when I saw.

Damn, you guys beat me to it. I thought butcher would crap himself seeing that their first stop is SD.

I don't care how many metrolink trains and metro buses I've gotta take, I'm seeing them in long beach.

The setlist is just amazing: Slayer, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom AND Mastodon.

MRDuCran 03-08-2006 05:38 PM

I broke my nose in a Slayer pit. Well, I was kinda at the side but everyone fell over and it was just my luck that a fat dude fell on me, bastard. I had to go the back for some water and a tissue n sh!t, great show though, I enjoyed War Ensemble and Disciple the most.

 That sucks, it reminds me of when Jeff was talking about the guy who fell of the balcony onto the stage and broke his leg.

Oh I did. Then I started screaming like a deranged lunatic, then I did a mad frenzy of IMing friends.

From the War at the Warfield DVD right??

The guy even got up and carried on headbanging with a bit of bone sticking out of his leg (if I remember correctly)...\m/

In the Slayer in their own Words doccumentary, Slayer said that at least one person gets hurt in their concerts.

Also, is the tour all ages.
