Angus is 50, for the idiot who said 83, 84.
hehe, if he was 83 he wouldn't be playing rock and roll right now.
hehe, if he was 83 he wouldn't be playing rock and roll right now.
Or maybe he would!! I know like Clapton and the Stones and those guys are in their 60's. And BB King (who's on tour) is 79!!! :amaze:

But all of those guy's music has become less heavy.

Ah, knowing Angus, he still would be.

BassMasta2487 08-01-2005 06:07 PM

Angus has said in interviews that he actually had no idea about the names of chords until Malcolm would tell him what they were. But I don't think there's ever been any question about him being a better guitar player.

rippa32 08-01-2005 09:47 PM

What just because he plays lead? I would like to hear how well Malcolm plays lead before judging them both.

Dr. Killgreedy 08-01-2005 09:51 PM

i never said angus was 83 i said i read an article in guitar world called "fact or myth" and it said most people think angus is around 50 but in fact thats how old the schoolboy outfit he wears is. it said angus was 83 but i didnt believe that, that's why i asked yall. so i know angus isnt 83.

I think that they are both equal guitar players, or maybe even Malcolm better then Angus. Angus even admits that.
What just because he plays lead? I would like to hear how well Malcolm plays lead before judging them both.
Angus has said many times that Malcolm has played lead in the studio, and Angus has had to play what Malcolm did, and Angus has said that Malcolm can do them on first tries, when it takes him all day sometimes.

rippa32 08-01-2005 10:08 PM

I havn't heard about the second comment but I suppose that's why Angus says Malcolm is better.

BassMasta2487 08-02-2005 07:06 AM

Well, the story goes that Malcolm was going to play lead, but he told Angus to do it because playin lead would interfere with his drinking. And considering that he taught Angus guitar...
All of their songs sound exactly the same to me.
Malcolm didn't teach Angus, both Malcolm and Angus learned b themselves and with some help from their older brother George. And while that first statement you made is true, I wasn't saying that, I was saying that in the studio when Angus couldn't get a lead to wok out that Malcolm played it and Malcolm usually nailed it first try, so then Angus would have to try to top him, or atleast do as good as him. :thumb:

maddog87 08-02-2005 12:24 PM

Wasn't it a ten doller acoustic that his mom got for him, and another for Malcolm?

maddog87 08-02-2005 02:13 PM

nope. good guess though

Follow The Reaper 08-02-2005 02:16 PM

It was a Banjo he made into a guitar wasn't it.

maddog87 08-02-2005 02:19 PM

:chug: yep.

another one...where was angus's first gig at?

edit*** not acdc, but just angus

AC/DC in their seventies performing, now that would be a laugh.

BB King sits in a chair on stage these days.

I doubt Angus could contain himself to sitting in a chair... he'll still manage to hit off a few duck walks... and a few hips.

drum4weezer36 08-02-2005 02:49 PM

Was it at Victoria Park in Sydney?

Didn't he play School dances when he was first starting out in '71 with his first band Tantrum?

I meant he taught him in the sense that he told him the names of chords, and usually was the first to play his parts before he ever did in the studio. I knew he didn't litterally teach Angus to play.

maddog87 08-02-2005 07:17 PM

it was at a church.his freind was talking to a music director and he said they needed a guitarist, so his freind recommended him. when angus started playing, it was way too loud and they didnt enjoy his distorted tone, so they told him to"turn that d*mn thing down"

maddog87 08-02-2005 07:20 PM

he was using a small amp that he bought for 60 bucks(or somewhere in that price range) and it would turn the tubes blue after a while. not sure of the brand though.

does anybody else have any trivia ?'s???

TheDanRathersProject 08-02-2005 07:27 PM

I like AC/DC, except for any album after Back in Black.....

BassMasta2487 08-02-2005 08:21 PM

Oh...I got a trivia question.

What was the first band that Cliff Williams recorded with? (somebody will get this, I'm sure. It's not terribly difficult)

I'm pretty sure it was Home.

ExplorerStudioYellow 08-02-2005 09:34 PM

this isn't exactly going along with the trivia but insn't malcom the most underated guitarists ever. Slipknot, System of a down, and Nirvana get more recognition for having good guitarists and all they do is play power chords and everything else that takes no skill.

No, a lot of people on here (including myself) think that Malcolm is a far more accomplished guitar player then Angus, and a lot of people also say that Daron Malakian sp?, Jim Root, Mick Thomson, and Curt Kobain are mediocre guitar players.

Dr. Killgreedy 08-02-2005 10:00 PM

i think malcolm and angus are about the same now but malcolm used to be ahead of angus on the guitar imo. i have to agree w/ reaper about the mediocre guitar players also.
