Hey don't worry man and welcome to MX
It's funny cause All the album cover seem to relate to the music
Oh definitely. That was the album that got me into metal and was the first album that I had ever owned. I loved all of the anti-political lyrics and the riffs were just so damn heavy. I hadn't heard anything like this on the radio before. The closest thing was Enter Sandman which doesn't seem all that heavy to me.

Just for fun Britton you should try to learn Shortest Straw. Very awesome jam and has kind of a weird beat.

DoubleBassAssault 10-26-2005 04:15 PM

(SRRY I SCREWED THAT UP)

Britton 10-26-2005 04:16 PM

Use the edit function.

Just in case you forgot, use the edit button instead of posting twice. Mods get kinda cranky when you double post. I try to do it sparingly.

I agree. While I'm a metalhead, it is because of my upbringing from this album that I get along with punks.

Their attitude on this album was great. Cliff had just died so they were like "Fu*k the world and everything and everyone in it." A very positive attitude to have if you ask me. :thumb:

Britton 10-26-2005 04:20 PM

I find that I almost always agree with punks

the way I look at it we are all for the same stuff
some of us just do it all a little different

:chug:

Cheers to anarchy and other forms of self-destruction.

Maybe one day 'Tallica will do an album similar to this one.

Doctor Night 10-26-2005 04:30 PM

Just chatting about how anti-political ...AJFA was.

What did you mean a minute ago man?

I was hoping that metallica would do an album similar to ...AJFA.

I added some sarcasm to it.

What's that, like walking into an exam like "Fuck it, I'm going to die anyway. Probably painfully, possibly envolving a spanner and piece of chicken wire"

I wasn't born cynical but made that way after being told countless lies.

ooh the shortest straw is a very fun song to play. especially the little 2 3 2 0 2 3 2 0 on the d string right before the chorus. and its fun to play on the drums.

.:Thrashman:. 10-26-2005 09:43 PM

i recon you should play fade to black (love the electric at the start)

drummer_mp3 10-26-2005 09:48 PM

Bow to Leper Messiah!

metalmilitia101 10-26-2005 09:56 PM
Tried going back to their roots. Everything was supposed to be raw, but ended up being total crap.

In my opinion, of course.
Back to their roots? They sounded more like Thrash than nu-metal back in the early days.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-27-2005 08:39 AM

Thrash was raw.

BassMasterMike88 10-27-2005 09:24 AM
Back to their roots? They sounded more like Thrash than nu-metal back in the early days.
More like thrash and power metal, and somthing i can't put my finger on, punk like maybe? Cause I know Cliff was a big misfits fan.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-27-2005 09:37 AM

No, they were thrash. Thrash had punk influences of course.

No Life Til' Leather 10-27-2005 10:16 AM

thrash was metal and fast punk put together

lightningmetal666 10-27-2005 11:44 AM
thrash was metal and fast punk put together
Exactly, the heaviness and technicality of metal combined with speed of punk.

Best of both worlds if you ask me. :thumb:

This time Im gonna be first posted on 1000th page. Tried last tiem that dude beat me. :upset:

shamed-angel 10-27-2005 01:00 PM

Metallica aren't thrash, and if you ask me, they never were. Their first album, maybe. But after that, their music was way too sopisticated and progressive to be called thrash.

Mazeppa 10-27-2005 01:05 PM

Give me an example of their music that you would call sophisticated and progressive.

I remember on that day I was sick so I was on the PC spamming this
thread...some one was gone for like 10 minutes and we moved it like 8
pages...that was gay.

What was that guys name?

shamed-angel 10-27-2005 01:10 PM
Give me an example of their music that you would call sophisticated and progressive.
Sanitarium, Leper Messiah, Creeping Death, Call of Ktulu, Orion.
Now you give me an example of something thrash.
