^ Yeah, I'm in Hon. Spanish 3 now. We're doing an "intensive view" of the subjunctive right now, then we're moving on. It's pretty tough, seeing as I forget most of the subjunctive.

Well, french is better than German ... so ugly.

:amaze:

bottlerocket 11-18-2004 09:35 PM

^ People say Spanish is easier. Not to mention that Spanish would actually come in handy in this country. Where I work (Grossman's in Malden, a cheap hardware store), it's in the middle of a ghetto. Lots of people speak Spanish or other foreign languages. I mostly deal with ethnic minorities and speaking Spanish helps so much. I got a pay raise because I speak Spanish. I rule.

i only took the required french classes and then i was the fuck out of there!
the only language i know is english, and i remember hardly any french. in grade 9, i even took the easy french class. and that was my last year of it.

ridethelightning 11-18-2004 09:38 PM

yea but in canada, its either french or english soo.........

bottlerocket 11-18-2004 09:38 PM

I agree about German being a brutal language. My friend spoke German with his friend one day, and he was like:

"NEIN SCLACKNGUTENTAG SHIZA FLIGANGLAF!!!!!!" It sounded so agressive and mean, like he said "I'm going to eviscerate you and kill your family." He really said "Let's go to the mall." :amaze:

spaceman, it is funny how quickly you deny that you know any language besides english...

Gav, your gav points have experienced serious inflation. They arent worth too much anymore.

That's pretty sweet. When I was in New York over the summer, I was in a store and I witnessed an Asian man and a Middle-Eastern man speaking Spanish with each other. It was interesting.

well, i was forced to learn french grades 3-9, so i obviously remember some of it, but i don't remember anything really about conjugating verbs and all that junk.

It was. And the Chinese guy was like "I'm a rich guy in a suit and tie and I probably drive a Lexus or something" and the other guy was like "I make 2.50 a day and don't really wash much" but they were obviously good friends, it was really cool.

:amaze:

Spaceman Spiff 11-18-2004 09:51 PM

one time my brother was out with some friends, and they saw some chinese guy sitting on a bench or something and picking his nose. his friend went up to the chinese guy and said "did you find anything good? did you find any rice?"

ridethelightning 11-18-2004 09:51 PM

yea here in winnipeg french has been mandatory from 1-8 and this year my mom made me take it, so i know some stuff, its all basic french though

i'm Canadian, but i used to do that, and then i got lazy and started doing it with only 1 line.
but when i write the number 1, i write it just like this: 1
and i put a line through the middle of my 7

bottlerocket 11-18-2004 09:57 PM

^ No, I do that, too!! Oh man! I don't know why, it's a habit I got from watching my dad make checks and stuff...weird.

:thumb:

:amaze: 11-18-2004 09:59 PM

I do the line in the 7 occasionaly, but not all the time.

:amaze:

ridethelightning 11-18-2004 09:59 PM

yea i used to do that, not sure anymore. and i write my ones like | and my sevens liek 7 except sometimes a line

:o
I put two lines in my dollar sign

Spaceman Spiff 11-18-2004 10:03 PM

and my 2 isn't quite like this 2, mine is all rounded and has a loop at the bottom instead of a corner.
my 4 doesn't attach at the top.
my 9 just has a line going down, not one that curls around like on the keyboard.

bottlerocket 11-18-2004 10:07 PM

Dude, Luke, not even joking, I occasionally put a line in the 7, too! That's crazy.

My math teacher hates the fact that my x's look like y's. Example:

Can you tell the difference? My math teacher HATES it. I do, too, but I write so fast in math because my brain moves so fast my hand can't keep up .

:thumb:

-Gav

bottlerocket 11-18-2004 10:08 PM

Yeah, My 4 isn't attached either, and my 9 is straight. My 1 is just a line, too.

:thumb:

-Gav

ridethelightning 11-18-2004 10:10 PM

yea my four is like |_|
--------------------------| and my x is more like )( than X for algebra

:amaze:

Spaceman Spiff 11-18-2004 10:11 PM

and when i make my 5, i do the line down first, and then the circular part, and then the line across the top, they always end up looking messy, but it's just the way i write numbers.

bottlerocket 11-18-2004 10:13 PM

^ I do that, too. Don't worry.

...this is sad. We're discussing how we write out numbers .

Well, I had a really truly awful day (Luke keep your trap shut! :p), so I'm off to bed. Night MX. You made my day that much better (yet again).

ugh, i hate when people make their x like that.
there are a million ways to indicate multiplication without an x! i never use an x anymore for multiplying, i put the numbers in brackets.
