That's what you think  Yes, welcome :thumb:. I agree with them though, MOP is by far a great album, yet RTL I like more. (You will soon learn I am deeply obsessed with Fade to Black) NP: Creeeeeeeeping Death! |

I feel like I've tried a bazillion times and I can never get it down. |
I dunno, the editor would probably have the same question.
Sweet. As for the solo, isn't it played on two guitars? |

Hey Joe, I was wondering how on earth do you do the second solo to FTB. I feel like I've tried a bazillion times and I can never get it down.
Firstly the 2nd solo is between the 1st and 2nd verse which is very easy. The last one. Do you know how to play the 2nd solo of The Four Horsemen?
As for the solo, isn't it played on two guitars?
Which? FTB is just one edit: for the solo. the whole entire ending has 3 guitars |
Sweet.
As for the solo, isn't it played on two guitars?
That whole ending has like 3-4 guitars in it. It's really lame when I try to emulate it. I'm only one guitarist and I don't have any looping equipment. (Now I know what to ask Santa for this year. ;) ) |

Which? FTB is just one
I meant the last solo. Sorry for not specifying. Nope, don't know the last solo to Four Horsemen. I can do the first solo to orion and most of the second. |

Nope, don't know the last solo to Four Horsemen. I can do the first solo to orion and most of the second.
Orion? THat's completely irrelevant... well anyways. The 2nd solo has a similar part in the FTB solo in this part: E-12---------------------- B---15-12----------------- G---------14br------------ D------------------------- A------------------------- E------------------------- except fade to black is down on E-7----------------------- B---10-7------------------ G--------9br-------------- D------------------------- A------------------------- E------------------------- repeated several times. is that the part you're having trouble with? it's the one i had trouble with the longest.
For the second pre-verse solo.
it's a two guitar solo, then the rhythm and other parts. |

And E-19p15 B-------17 Stuff like that fast, I always end up with a ringing open string as I lift off the 17 on B |
Yep that's the part. I run into this same problem when I was trying to learn the solo to Ozzy's Mr. Crowley as well. Apparently this is a fav. lick of 80's shredders or something. |

E-19p15 B-------17 Stuff like that fast, I always end up with a ringing open string as I lift off the 17 on B
Hold on let me get my guitar and see what i do... Well you have to lift it up because he goes to a 17 on the E string. Try barring the 15th fret, just on the E and B. It's not perfect but it won't give you the open string sound and it's still in key.
Yep that's the part. Apparently this is a fav. lick of 80's shredders or something.
I haven't heard the song, but yes it's a popular riff in the day. It's easy once you can do it to be quite honest. It's slower on the Four Horsemen so I recommend learning the 2nd solo first there then moving to FTB |

Just try it out. After awhile you'll probably be able to do it without barring. Either way it sounds pretty cool. |

Thanx for spreadin' you guitar virtuosity Joe. :thumb: |
Thanx for spreadin' you guitar virtuosity Joe. :thumb:
Not a problem. Jom just sent me Sonata Arctica's cover of Fade to Black. If you want something to play with that would be good because they didn't do the ending solo. (it's half down) |
What did Ya'll think of my little jam?
Okay cool.

Here it is Bro
hxxp://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0OPBYW42SJJHM3EOUPG3M8H25Q Does the name Nana mean anything to you? |
lol
I didn't really like the chorus. Great idea, there was just a little too much. Great mix there with the cleans in the intro except your guitar sounds a little out of tone. A little too much of Fade to Black I think. I also think maybe several tracks of different guitar parts would be cool. Overall, I like it. |
Thanks man. I had been there with my bro all day just to
record some stuff that I'm doing aside of my band (The Great Revival) and he was like Hey Britton you want to record some of you're Metallica? I was like Hell yea I do...Then I didn't know what to play. I did it straight from this cruddy little pedal he had...so it was just on effect. First I thought I would do FTB (the whole thing) But that woulda been it and we didn't have the time to overdub it..so I just did whatever I had on my mind until he said stop. Nana? |
lol i didn't look at this for a day and a half and i had to read 3 new pages!
i am currently working on an instrumental rendition (drums, guitar, bass, synth) of fade to black, basically fade to black with shortened verses bc there are no vocals. anyway, i'll post a link when i'm through. |
Awsome I wanted to do that But my drumming doesn't sound
too good and the vocals sound like crud. I've got the bass and guitar's down. Just got to work on singing abd drumming |

Well it's up to you if you want to re-upload it but I was kind of hoping to hear your chops. :) |
So what exactly does it say?
|
So what exactly does it say?
It says that I have to enter the link into a field in the middle of the screen to make it a valid link. I do just that and I was sitting there for a couple of minutes and nothing happened. Got irritated and moved on. |

Welcome to the forums. Kinda funny that you mention that song as I'm in the middle of trying to learn that solo. Harmonic minor sounds so awesome. |
I think that's their best solo
|
I think that's their best solo
I like that whammy bar thing that kirk does at the very end of the solo before everyone goes back the main riff. |
When I think of AJFA I think of the color silver
|
that was random
|
another good song on AFJA is One
|
Thta's what I thought when I posted
Use the edit function |
When I think of AJFA I think of the color silver
Pehaps you're thinking of the statue of Justice then. Not really silver but has a similar tint. |
It's funny cause All the album cover seem to relate to the music
