Dies Irae 09-07-2006 05:15 AM

Have you seen Howard the Duck?

Bartender 09-07-2006 05:22 AM

Howard the Duck has Lea Thompson in it. Automatic bonus points.

Dies Irae 09-07-2006 05:28 AM

She sleeps with a duck though.

What a whore.

superpeer 09-07-2006 07:07 AM
AC/DC doesn't suck. Sure their songs all sound strikingly similar and they aren't the best musicians in the world, but I think it is still enjoyable.
Yes, they do. Worst singer ever.

That is all.

NP: The Cure - A Forest

ATM 09-07-2006 07:35 AM

Kung Pow was hilarious when I was younger.

SailAway 09-07-2006 08:30 AM

Zoolander was a funny movie thats in the same vein as kung pow, well I guess I never actually saw kung pow.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 09-07-2006 09:09 AM

i never saw kung pow or zoolander.
but i do know they're both really really stupid.

manos: the hands of fate is the worst movie i've ever seen, followed by anus magillicutty.
but i love them both so much, for being so crap.

sketchyjoe 09-07-2006 10:12 AM

Zoolander was good. Kung Pow sucked balls.

3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain is the worst film I've ever seen.

ATM 09-07-2006 12:27 PM

Is 3 Ninjas the 3 kids who each have a power? Like one kid can see whats going to happen on his game gear?

Sam 09-07-2006 05:03 PM

Whoa, new greatest albums thread. Did I miss the results from the last one or are they still up somewhere?

Sam 09-07-2006 05:04 PM

Nevermind, I suck.

finally. someone who realizes this as well.

nutty_bar 09-07-2006 05:17 PM

The singer on High Voltage is much betterthan the one on Back in Black.

Zappa 09-07-2006 05:47 PM

Alright kiddos, I have a computer.

JonM 09-07-2006 06:16 PM

No I do not. Mine's JonM though. I'll sign on right now.

Zappa 09-07-2006 08:49 PM

Well, gee, do I ever hate this macbook. Does it work for anything?

Little Man being Erased 09-07-2006 08:58 PM

yeah macs are super lame

World Burns To Death 09-07-2006 09:01 PM

macs are only good for garage band

Zappa 09-07-2006 09:13 PM

The line-in port on my macbook doesn't work. And it won't read my external hard drive filled with music. And it doesn't run AIM (iChat is ****) or Minesweeper. So it's useless.

Finally finished that fucker.

Kyle 09-08-2006 05:34 AM

Pixies, can you reccomend me a load of Post-Hardcore-ish bands that I might like? I'm really bad with genre definitions, but I mean bands like At the Drive-In, Sparta, old cursive, Bear Vs. Shark and Fall of Troy etc. Except I only like harsh vocals in rare circumstances. Thanks.

Kyle 09-08-2006 05:41 AM

Yeah very clever, but i'd rather not make a fool of myself in there with my lack of knowledge. Thanks all the same.

sketchyjoe 09-08-2006 07:00 AM

What were you posting on before? A potato?

Kyle 09-08-2006 08:02 AM

The Datsuns are playing in my town next week for £10, any good live? I'll probably go anyway, just wondering if i'll actually enjoy it or not.

Little Man being Erased 09-08-2006 08:30 AM

The Datsuns were completely awesome when I saw them a couple of years ago. Do it Kyle.
What were you posting on before? A potato?
that made me LOL big time.

sobelecta 09-08-2006 08:36 AM

See the Datsuns, they're awesome.

Hm.

Well... I'll double up Post-Hardcore with some Emo bands because there's some confusion in genre since alot of them were infulenced blah blah blah.

anyways.

Hot Cross
Glassjaw
Hopesfall
Drive Like Jehu
Trophy Scars (get hospital music, not alphabet alphabets)
The Blood Brothers
Q And Not U (No Kill, No Beep Beep)
The Murder of Rosa Luxemburg
Love Like...Electrocution
Life Detecting Coffins

Kyle 09-08-2006 10:09 AM

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. I'll get to downloading some of these!

I guess i'll go see the Datsuns aswell.

Robert Crumb 09-08-2006 06:44 PM

Between a choice of seeing Lyrics Born live (backed by a full band) and seeing We Jam Econo, that Minutemen documentary, what would you do? Pretend that you've seen Lyrics Born before and enjoyed it. And pretend that We Jam Econo was a one day deal. Also, pretend free vs. $5. And also pretend purple monkey dishwasher.

Eliminator 09-08-2006 07:24 PM

We Jam Econo.

Dog 09-08-2006 07:33 PM

why not go see Lyrics Born and then just rent/buy We Jam Econo? is it playing in a theater or something? if it's showing on a big screen i'd go to that. it'd be fun watching with a full house of other Minutemen fans.

Robert Crumb 09-08-2006 07:41 PM

I've never really seen it in stores/rental places, but I rarely buy movies anyways. I don't know how big the screen will be. It's screening in a basement. I think I'll go see it and make it a music doc back-2-back weekend and go check out the Leonard Cohen thing that's playing at another place. Lyrics Born will probably be back in a few months anyways.

Happymeal 09-08-2006 07:57 PM

Decemberists are playing in Toronto!

..on a Monday :(

Is Chan Marshall any good live?

Anxious 09-08-2006 08:19 PM

Yeah go see the doc. You'd meet cool people and see a cool movie.

I've read that she's gotten a lot better since sobering up.

Happymeal 09-08-2006 09:04 PM

If so then I might go to her show in October or November.

The Great Decay 09-08-2006 09:25 PM

Is she playing in Toronto?

Happymeal 09-08-2006 10:10 PM

http://www.ticketinbox.com/toronto-concert-tickets.html

Hm.. I swear I saw it there last week. She might've cancelled it or something. Well there's Kayo Dot at the end of September, and Yo La Tengo and The Hold Steady in October..

The Great Decay 09-08-2006 10:12 PM

That's why I'd love to go to uni. in Toronto, so many good shows.

el doctor 09-08-2006 11:35 PM

Cat Power live isn't anything like the crazy stories you've heard from the old days. She seems a bit awkward but fairly comfortable with the band backing her. Some minor quirks, but nothing that holds the show back. Her performance with the band is really solid, but a lot of the tracks on The Greatest are just "nice" to me. That said, the time she spends solo on the piano or guitar makes the whole show worth it.
