I could, Al. I could. If it wasn't that I have no credit whatsoever on my cell phone.

I've seen it used for Sex On The Beach.

Do you have house phones in Belgium? (:p)
I've seen it used for Sex On The Beach.
Yeah, but that was a song by T-Spoon. I imagine that Jelle's sister would be more likely to listen to that.

Cain 08-25-2005 06:01 PM
I think Bobo had that dream.
No, it was Jom. He's just being silly and facetious by not mentioning that it was him that had it.

The rest of the dream included a mad fight with zombies on speedboats where Jelle was pwning all of them with submachine guns, Bobo would randomly yell "BRAAWWR" from the fireplace and I wore sunglasses for some inexplicable reason.

and Yeah, I don't think she would listen to that.

Dancin' Man 08-25-2005 06:10 PM

Howdy guys. I am listening to Cain's song and it is impressing me so far. Clearly lots of work went into this. If you ever get the chance, try rerecording it with real strings. It would probably be not too hard so long as you have one person to play each instrument, just lots of dubbing.

Also, 3rd band practice with my metalcore band and we finally finished our first song. It's actually pretty good. My favorite section is the funky bass solo into a sweep picking grind riff. It's such a great juxtaposition of sounds.

How's everyone else doing lately?

Cain 08-25-2005 06:15 PM

All the string players I know have iffy intonation. And plus it just doesn't sound right without the orchestral, non-string quartet feel. If I get involved heavily with the music program, though, I may reach a point where a performance of it is possible. I wrote the song and all of the music in standard notation on Finale, so it's not like that would be a problem.

EDIT: And a belated thanks to everyone who thinks positively of my song, especially Arucard. Would if I could, mate. :(

Dancin' Man 08-25-2005 06:18 PM

I was hoping there could be some slightly more technical guitar near the end, like a call and response between guitar and strings, or a round maybe.

My new band - We named ourselves The Donner Posse. We first were the Donner Party but decided to jive with the times and use Posse instead.

Cain 08-25-2005 06:39 PM
I was hoping there could be some slightly more technical guitar near the end, like a call and response between guitar and strings, or a round maybe.
The guitar tracks were pissing the **** out of me, mostly because my right hand was taking a beating from playing the song at a faster tempo than that at which it was written, and they were just no fun to play. Other riffs I found to be incompatible with my drums and bass, and since programming those instruments are pains in the butt I decided to rewrite the riffs. Hence, I wanted to just get them over with.

More technical guitar parts were written, but unfortunately I was not capable enough to execute them. And I like atmospherics a lot better than technical riffing anyway, composition wise: I prefer the bowel-churning stuff to be propelled by drums and bass rather than guitar.

I'm learning some Nightwish though to get my rhythm chops in shape.

Arucard 08-25-2005 07:13 PM

If you want to get some proper good chops, try learning some Angra. Very complex ryhtmic paterns.

When i have money, i shall come to America, rent a studio out for a week or two and write some stuff with you.

Illmatic 08-25-2005 07:19 PM

Anyone else having trouble with Audioscrobbler?

I've just listened to three songs but my scrob won't pick up any of them.

Hells Bells 08-25-2005 07:21 PM

Man, Cain this makes the songs I write look sick. But really, great job with the song. I can only imagine how much time and effort you put into that song to make it turn out like that. The production's great for something done at home, especially with such limited resources. The only thing I can really say is that the drumming sounded kind of flat in the beginning. It turned out really well...there isn't much else I can suggest as for as improvements go.

Arucard 08-25-2005 07:21 PM

You sure the plugins turned on in Media player? I still haven't downloaded scrobbler onto my new computer.

Illmatic 08-25-2005 07:23 PM

Well, there's a check next to it when I check the Plugins.

Arucard 08-25-2005 07:28 PM

Then i have no idea. It will probably fix later, you know what Scrobblers like. Well, goodnight guys.

You can also use the MusicBrainz Tagger to automatically identify and clean up the metadata tags in your MP3 collections.

It makes sure that Audioscrobbler recognizes the tracks that you play.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-25-2005 09:04 PM

So I skateboarded all day. It was awesome. I broke my cousin's skateboard, so he was mad, but we built a new one with his other old deck, and we built a couple of jumps, hurt ourselves, and a bunch of other fun stuff. Fun day.

Kage 08-25-2005 09:08 PM

Are you a good skater, or more of a casual rider?

Endless Obsession 08-25-2005 09:19 PM

Im the worst skater/snowboarder ever. I can barely even stand up on a skateboard and the first time I ever went snowboarding I went 20 feet down the hill, and fell and broke my right clavicle. It was awful.

It sucks too cause all my friends skate.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-25-2005 09:21 PM

I used to be ok when I used to skate daily, about three years ago. I could do kickflips, shuvits, 180's, etc..but now I only ride at my cousin's house, but I'm thinking about building a mini halfpipe(4 footer or so) in my basement, so that would motivate me to take it up again. Do you skate at all?

Byzantine- It sucks for me, because I'm a decent skater, but none of my friends skate,(and most of my friends that snowboard really aren't that good) so it's hard for me to really have much fun skating, unless it's me and my cousin. I guess we have the opposite problem. :p

Shattered_Future 08-25-2005 09:23 PM

I can go forwards and turn. :)

I mean, i can ride around pretty decently...but that's it. No tricks.
