Screw that, I'd get the publishing rights to Metallica songs.
Really stick it to that bastard. Now I can download any song for free...... and let whoever I want download it. hhhmmmmmmmmmmm......................
No you wouldn't. You'd make as much money as possible first, then put them up for downloads. It's real jackassy thing to do anyways. It pissed me off when Michael Jackson had the rights to several Beatles songs. |
Gotta go.
See you guys later. Won't be back until monday possibly tuesday. |
Wonder where he's off to? (ponders)
so Joe how ae things in that Metal mind of your's? |
Wonder where he's off to? (ponders)
so Joe how ae things in that Metal mind of your's?
I have no idea... Actually, not very metal. I'm off to Homecoming in half an hour  I've been polishing up some of my recordings of various songs lately since I got new equipment. I have all these old recordings of songs on my computer and I just haven't been up to new recordings so I've been working on my Fade to Black and such. You? |
I like mostly anything after the black album. i seem to get the same sound with my fret muting as with the palm muting i figure i probably need someone to actually show it to me some day.. problem i have is i cant seem to turn off the fret muting in my hand, it just does it automatically and it frustrates me a lot
|
geez, that sounds like just all the types of music i like wrapped into 1...
i have this odd ambient thing playing in my real player currently its kind of hypnotic but all sounds like the same song. |
Surely you can't left hand mute notes which aren't open though...?
I don't palm mute, I play bass, haha, but... Yeh. :smash: |
You can mute bass.
and andrue you should find a couple guitar players to watch and show you some of this stuff in person |
perhaps I am more confused than I think I am.. i rest my fingers on the strings withought getting them to the point of the fret, same spot but no fret, muffles the sound a bit.... thats what the guy i originally learned from showed me, he did a lot of Ac/dc, Molly Hatchet, and 38 special stuff.
|
Of course you can mute bass. I use muted notes. I simply don't palm mute. No need.
:smash: |
Okay andrue what you are gonna do is this
take you're fretting hand...and putt it in you're pocket. Now with the picking and slightly rest it on the bridge and chug away at it. This works best with lots of distortion |
sounds good to me... i have Mt-2 and OS-2 pedals
|
That's awsome LM666. (That's you're new Abreviation)
You should do that. My band is gonna do some covers for our battle of the bands. Then we have about 8 really nice originals that we need to choose from. When I get recordings can I send E'm out to you all for imput?
Yea, some videos would be great :D |
Um I wsh I had some. I'm going out with my gal rght now but
when I get home I'll search for some |
So I got a Jackson PS-6 (Not that one, just showing the guitar :p), it's pretty damn nice, has a very nice tone (Even with my dodgey assed palm muting it sounds good!), yeah

Nice guitar. How much was it? |
$1,200 Australian (I guess I got it a bit cheaper ^_^), came with custom case, strap locks? (Different to what I would call a normal strap, that's for sure!).
|
jacksons are demm nice guitars, idc what anyone says. i love playing metal with them. they have a lovely tone. ibanez is a good brand, too. gibson i don't like for the same reasons as some people mentioned above, the frets don't go high enough and the neck is unnecessarily big (in my opinion)
but yeah i decided to pick up the bass again and i learned how to play the bass line from that 'bass and guitar doodle' shot from the cunning stunts dvd. man that is so lovely, it makes me tear up every time i watch it. |
I love Jackson
I love ibanez Gibson are alright i recon fender are good for jazz and funk which i also like :) |
Hello,
I just read the 1st page of this thread, which was made almost 2 years ago. And I just wanted to say that I don't think MetallicA will make just ONE album and call it a day. It's their lives man, they love to make music and try out new stuff with music. I think they'll make a couple of great albums and I'm sure Kirk will find his love for solo's again (and I sure miss them). Remember when James was talking at MTVIcon: "We may be an icon, but we sure ain't done yet. To 20 years more!". And what about bands like Motörhead, Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones (which they're going to perform with) and stuff, those guys are over 50. Remember MetallicA are inspired by bands like that, they won't do much different. And they're also one of the greatest bands in the world, they can't let MetallicA die and can not let the fans down, I don't think they are like that. And I don't know what you guys have talked about the last 2 years but I believe most of you will agree to this. So, that's all I wanted to say :) . GreetingZ - Damage Inc. |
i've a question. i am starting to think that "one" was recorded a little off key. is that so? i will tune my guitar almost perfectly. i think it is just when i play lead. the lead has a weird sound that probably makes it hard to play acoustically and sound on key. i don't mean this for guitar. i am just making an observation.
'One' is indeed off-key, a bit higher than standard tuning but just slightly. It really shows when you start to play the very first riff. Also I have these bootlegs of the same time (Justice shows) and they also are slightly higher than a standard tuned guitar. 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' is also the same story. I find it very annoying when I play with the CD and I don't know what they did, maybe they made the recording play faster cause it sounded better or something and the pitch automaticly got tuned up a bit, but I don't know why it's slight off key, maybe they just tuned all guitars up a little bit to (which I personally think) makes it sound a bit more psycho, evil or trashy. I've heard Van Halen did the same thing, tune it not exactly standard he also did it by ear. And like tuners like the Boss TU-2 pedal, can be set slight off-key too. Maybe they did it like that... And for the people that odn't believe it's off-key, tune your guitar good and play with the cd and listen very precise, not like "Oh it sounds about the same it's in key". GreetingZ - Damage Inc. P.S. Sorry about bringing back the vintage posts lol, I just HAVE to reply sometimes : P . |
Wow welcome to MX man.
Chu congrats on the new guitar. I hope to hear some clips soon. |
Wow welcome to MX man.
Chu congrats on the new guitar. I hope to hear some clips soon.
Me too. Did he ever upload FWTBT? |
i have seen some info somewhere when i first started thinking about learning metallica, to tune the guitar down 1 note.... now, i figure, if you have nothing better to do with your day, when you're not in therapy, than to sit around and funk with your guitar... why not tune it up and down and make your fans go nuts trying to figure out what you did to create "your" next song.
course, thats thinking from someone who cant get a palm mute right... ------- five beers earlier ii wouldnt have had to edit that.. hmmm. whats that ii from? |
Welcome to the forums, Damage Inc. Great posts, just realize there's an edit button at the bottom of your post. Try using that instead of posting twice in a row. People get picky.
Me too. Did he ever upload FWTBT?
I don't think so. I play a lot of Metallica down a step simply because I love the way it sounds. I don't learn it that way, unless that's how the song was written. |
personally, after hearing standard tuning for a while, i love hearing songs tuned down or dropped on one string or whatever. that was one of the reasons i fell in love with slayer. btw i just got hooked on the st anger album, don't kill me anger haters but its a great album.
|

*STAB!!!* Don't worry, I love it too. I like the sound when it's tuned down unless it's a supposed-to-be-tuned-up song. IMO, Seek and Destroy and Master of Puppets were not supposed to be tuned down. You all know my opinion of Fade to Black. One too. |
Yea I love St.Anger too. It's really heavy. I like it much more
then Load and Reload. And Damage you did a great job on those post. If that's how they are all gonna be I don't mind you double posting. LoL How was Home coming? did the DJ play any Tallica? Oh yea I've been in my Bro's studio all day. I got tired toward the end so he let me do some Tallica stuff. It's a big medly type number I'll post it up here tommarow. I've been running the last 40 hours on 6 hours of sleep..so it's 9 here and I'm gonna go to bed |
Me too. Did he ever upload FWTBT?
No :( Kinda turned out weird at band practice yesterday... The bassist who was going to come over, never came around, so my brother got his mate who's a bassist to come around, and we sort of only did a little jamming and then people went and got high :p But yeah, I'm progressing fairly well I like to think :D Any other easier Metallica songs? I'm thinking Creeping Death, and the solo doesn't sound impossible. |
Fade to black is easy
|
I can do that
Not as good as Joe, and my Lead work is fairly sloppy, at best.... |

I had "Gold Digger" by Kayne West stuck in my head. It's gotta be the worst song I've ever heard. That's cool. I want a studio... Chu, learn the Black album from front to back. It's not too bad at all.
I can do that  Not as good as Joe, and my Lead work is fairly sloppy, at best....
Don't worry about it, I've still got plenty of practice needed for that song. But thanks :D Off to bed, goodnight MXers  |

I love the way it sounds, but I can't play a single song that isn't standard! I've looked everywhere but no one can ever explain it...I've just never been able to understand it. |
Fade to black is easy
Yeah it is |
You look old but new... well anyways welcome. Watch the double posts, theres an edit button at the bottom of your post if you want to add something.
Yea fade to black is easy, but it takes a long time to be able to play it perfectly. The only thing I don't like about music in general is the different tunings. It's awful for the neck of the guitar even though it makes it sound cooler. |
I used to come here all the time, and I just saw my friend on it and it reminded me. I don't know why it erased all my post counting thingies or something. Lame.
I don't think I can play ANY songs perferctly...heh...but it is a hard song to perfect... |
I can do FWTBT pretty perfectly, the only thing I lack is perfect palm mute, I can plam mute, but I find for the chug-chug riff, my palm sort of floats off the bridge/strings, do my muting dies. Oh well, I'm getting better at it! :D
|
Yea you just have to work on it alot then it's super easy
and great for Metal |
Okay I know this is a double post but I won't let this thread sit on
the third page...and plus there is a bonus. Here is me screwing around. I didn't get the time to sync everything up so I just did a medly comprised of mostly rythym cause that's what I play. and yes I know that the timing and some of the notes are wrong. But I would be very thankfull for any advice you friends would give me. just change the xx to tt like we all did in the old days. I think it's just under 9 minutes but I hope you all won't mind. hxxp://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0OPBYW42SJJHM3EOUPG3M8H25Q PS Joe does the name nana mean anything to you? Tell me what ya'll think |
interesting timing lol. it has an airy, ethereal effect. do you have short fingers? i would be interested to know
