Rep doesn't matter at all. If you really, really, want those stars I guess it does, but other than that just come here and discuss bitchin' music. No need for a number.

edit:

I can say bitchin'!?

I love the new swear filter!
I love the fact that when you try to say f*ck you get fuck

Huber 10-21-2005 04:03 PM
Beautiful guitar man!!!!!

How much did you pay for it?

------
i paid 450.00 back in 1982, i also bought a Peavy Herritage (spelling) amp to go with it for 300 bucks, but i sold the amp in Fargo because i couldnt fit it in my truck at the time and needed the money, i wish i hadnt done that now, but i couldnt part with the guitar through.

Well maybe you could save up for a nice marshall hs or a peavey 5150 to go with it.

That's another question that I have, why does a guitar or an amplifier have to cost as much as a used car?

Andrue 10-21-2005 04:14 PM

i was using it without an amp since about 1988, last year i chucked 130 bucks out the window to get a cheap peavy blazer and a few pedals just so i can listen to it on a better level then with a hearing aide....

i figure some day i will get a nice amp, i only play for my own benefit but hope my 3 year old *currently* will pick it up and play

Oh definitely. Get him to play while he's young (not at three though) and he'll be amazing by the time he moves out.:thumb:

Britton 10-21-2005 05:00 PM

Yea that will be incredible

So do you play that very much? is it you're only guitar?

Andrue 10-21-2005 06:03 PM

sorry, had to go to dinner..

my kid is a girl, i let her plunk away on it whenever i have it out. she has her "own" pick... she loves that...

i havent had time all summer to do anything, the winter i basically do nothing and summer i work too much to do anything fun.

Britton 10-21-2005 06:13 PM

I'm sorry that's really too bad.

That's a very nice guitar. Make sure she knows that
and respects it. And if you are ever gonna get rid of it please let
me know. I can't do anything soon. But please keep me in mind if
you are gonna get rid of it.

Andrue 10-21-2005 06:33 PM

never getting rid of that, i figure amps are just more money but guitars seem something like a personal chunk of someone. this one found me and it plans on staying with me.

i have a couple accoustic guitars also, but i dont use them much, my wife plays the violin, she was 2nd chair in her university orchestra. there are a lot of very musical people at my church, i really hope my daughter aquires the gift of music and can play. someone at my church said about 4 years is the right time to get serious with it. we have a small crappy electric keyboard for her to plunk on also....

i figure if i surround her with instruments and let her get used to them maybe by the time she is 8 she will be playing some metallica (haha) actually, she is very into "kids" music currently, but i play metallica in the car and other stuff in my collection to give her an ear for it.

metalmilitia101 10-21-2005 07:50 PM

haha soon as my first kid comes out of the womb i'm gonna slip a metallica infant shirt on him. don't know quite where i'll get it, but i will. lol.

Andrue 10-21-2005 08:11 PM

his/her gramma should knit one.. just give the pattern up

i have my kid doing all kinds of funny stuff, like smacking our knuckles, and i tought her to say all kinds of phrases like: "force = mass times accelleration"

but she also adds on to that phrase: "to the playground" i dont have a clue where she thought that one up, been saying since she was 1.5

she is a blast with the guitar, the day i bought the rinky dink amp i use now freaked her out a bit.. never heard it like that before... she likes to play other things then the strings though, like the neck and the spot between the bridge. building her own style i guess.

Britton 10-21-2005 10:57 PM

You're kid sounds awsome man!

In Physics we were just studying Mass x accelaration

You're avatar reminds me of a video that Metallica played right
as they took stage

nowitzki 10-22-2005 06:43 AM

You mean from the Good The Bad And The Ugly
They always play The Ecstasy of Gold from that part of the film to come out to. I think it's awesome, really gets the crowd psyched up.

zandordandor 10-22-2005 10:09 AM

Hey, anyone know what song is played in the background of this clip?

Well whenever my Dial up gets faster I will be, just wait a couple of minutes.

Ok it isn't anything I've heard. Actually, it sounds a lot like Breadfan but I don't think it is.

Andrue-- That guitar is amazing. Yes, do whatever you can to get your daughter into music.

Quite possibly the best intro.. next to the Final Countdown.

Britton 10-22-2005 12:38 PM

Hmm I'm not sure what it is. It's this guy running away from a bunch
of tombstones...but they're everywhere so he can't get away. Then
they launched into Blackened

Yeah it's a scene from The Good The Bad and The Ugly and Ecstacy of Gold is playing over it.

Britton 10-22-2005 12:57 PM

Yea that's the one.

Did you see them on MIAWTWT?

Andrue 10-22-2005 01:10 PM

its a stone of an indirect relative at a local cemetery, i am heavy into genealogy these days... i went to snap some gravestones for someone that wanted shots of their relatives emailed to them. i love the green lichen that grows on old stones, it forms really cool art if you spend the time to look at it. that one dates from 1821... its odd the looks you get from people when you are in a cemetery snapping shots of all the stones.

Jev 10-22-2005 01:26 PM
Yea that's the one.

Yes I did but they didn't have no screens with it on at Earl's Court. They did however show it at Download '04.

Joe 10-22-2005 02:51 PM
Yea that's the one.

I did, but I was still a little Metallica fan then. I don't remember really any of this.

Jev 10-22-2005 03:02 PM

I was such a fanboy at the first Metallica gig I went to. I also thought it was cool to headbang my brains to bits to, so the next day I couldn't remember half of it. Good thing i got it on Bootleg DVD :D

My ncle is amazing with that stuff. He has my family back to Ireland something
like 300 years ago. So that's very intresting.

When I saw them I was only a fan of the newer stuff now I'm more into
the older stuff

My last name is MacArthur (scottish) and when I went to look up my family history, there was a family saying that sounded awesome to me.

Apparently the MacArthurs have been (according to what I've read) around as long as the devil himself.

There was also a bad@$$ war song that went along with my family name but I forgot what it said.

Andrue 10-22-2005 04:12 PM

The scottish metal band, Mac Tallica

lightningmetal666 10-22-2005 04:19 PM
The scottish metal band, Mac Tallica
Actually (no disrespect to 'tallica) I wanted to start an AC/DC tribute band out here. Here in the AV we've got a pretty good Iron Maiden tribute band and I wanted to do something a little different.

Just a side project until I can get good enough to do an awesome metal band

(thinking of a mixture of 'tallica, slayer, megadeth,& Cannibal Corpse)

Andrue 10-22-2005 04:35 PM

awe, i was thinking a metal band with plaid leather kilts and playing metallica with a heavy scottish accent would be a show stopper... or a beer bottle throwing fest perhaps.

Andrue 10-22-2005 04:38 PM

actually ac/dc is perhaps the reason i am in here i guess...
i love ac/dc, saw a magazine last year with info and some tab sheets...
it re-motivated me to re-learn some stuff, then one day i had reload playing and i heard slither (a-new) and figured i could learn that pretty easy...

when i saw the tab sheet with "palm muting" on it, i had no idea what that was, i alway mute on the fret board with my fingers... i still havent got that right yet, they fight with eachother now... but originally i came in here to see if i could get tips on metallica playing and palm muting.

Britton 10-22-2005 04:40 PM

That's awsome LM666. (That's you're new Abreviation)

You should do that. My band is gonna do some covers for our battle
of the bands. Then we have about 8 really nice originals that we need to choose
from.

When I get recordings can I send E'm out to you all for imput?

Yay, my name has been condensed. :thumb:

Yeah, send me some of your recordings. I have a way of getting ppl to listen to music and it may be somewhat beneficial to you.

/drops hint

Britton 10-22-2005 04:45 PM

Okay Well all palm muting is is slightly resting you're hand on the bridge
while plucking. So you can still hear it but it doesn't ring out.

With Metallica it's good to decide what type of Metallia you want to play...
so what do you like the newer or the older?

Well at least you have metal in there.

/has sudden urge to play skull-crushing metal

I've been listening to metallica for a while and it has not once altered the shape of my skull like they claim their music does.

We should sue Lars for false advertisement. Take the money away from that money hungry bastard.

Britton 10-22-2005 04:50 PM

Yea then I can get a nice guitar!

Joe 10-22-2005 04:53 PM

Sounds great britton, send me some.

Britton 10-22-2005 04:54 PM
