Yeah the singer in my band and the guy in my avatar are both half black and they both are about that color. My singer is a little lighter i guess. But I have never really seen a half-black person and been like "o hes probobly full black".
It depends on what kind of gene it is. Im pretty sure its not possible from what I remember from bio because Black is dominant over white, so your mom would have to be half black for you to be all black. I guess its a co-dominant gene thats why it mixes to get a color in between. |
The only way I could look/be "full black" would be if my mom was half-black, and she is not. And I am the only "half-black" person to look this way, from what I can gather.
And I have never seen any pictures from my birth.
Have you ever asked for pictures, or do you think your "false" mom thinks it's a skeleton in her closet? |
Have you ever asked for pictures, or do you think your "false" mom thinks it's a skeleton in her closet?
I've seen pictures of just about everything else (of me when I was a baby, stuff like that) and I've asked to see them but she always gives a vague "Maybe later" or "I don't feel like finding them" answer. |

Suspicious. Do you know your "real" mother? |
Suspicious.
Do you know your "real" mother?
Assuming I'm correct in this? No And if it turns out my mom isn't my birthmom, she's still my "real" mom because she's the one who raised me and she's the one who married my dad. And if it turns out my birthmom is out there, do I want to find her? No. If she didn't want me, why should I want her? |
I know a couple of half/half kids, and they are normally lighter skin colored, but you never know young man.

Who knows where she is now. |
That's odd that your mother is being so vague. Maybe it's accidental, though. I would hope that she hasn't been trying to hide anything from you after these years, and it just seems like she would answer you more directly now that you're an adult... I dunno, man, sorry. At least you've thought it through, it seems like you've spent a lot of time wondering about this.

I have a friend who's full black and looks like he could be only half black.
|
I'm sorry to pop into the conversation like this, but I don't suppose anyone in here has read and would like to help me with The Great Gastby real quick for English III?
Ray - do you think you're adopted? |
Uhh wtf i gained 32 pounds this summer.
|
Ray - do you think you're adopted?
I wouldn't say I'm adopted...my dad was my actual birthdad, and I still consider my mom to be my real mom. And I read the Great Gatsby a while back but I can try to help. |
Hey guys, I have a quick question: I want to get a controller for my laptop for when I play ROMs and such. I don't really like using the keyboard, so a simple gamepad would be excellent. There was this Logitech one at Best Buy for $10 and looks like one that would work. My question is, is it just a plug-and-play device? I use zSNES for my SNES ROMs and have a couple N64 emulators, will it be able to detect the gamepad when I try to configure it? Or is there something that needs to be done? My budget is not very high right now, but I want one that will work with my ROMS. Thanks.
|
I lost 10
I'm pretty sure I lost a couple pounds this summer but I haven't weighed myself in a while. Jom: That's the biggest loser alive? I'm pretty sure you could find a bigger loser from that forum. |

And I read the Great Gatsby a while back but I can try to help.
Right. Well, I'm adopted and I found out a while ago that I had a brother who died, and a sister somewhere out there. It was really weird, because it's like people who are so close to you...yet you don't know who they are. It's an odd feeling, definately. Ok, I'm doing this stupid project for English III...and I hate this book. Bored me to death. It's about character corruption. The problem is that I can't think of any specfic corruption involving Jay Gastby, Tom Buchanan, Jordan Baker, Myrtle Wilson, George Wilson and Daisy Buchanan that directly affects them. After each character's name, list the corrupt behaviors of that character and the consequences the character suffers as a result. Does that even make sense to you? Yes, they are corrupt characters, but I can't specifically point out Jordan Baker did to make her corrupt. It's bugging the hell out me. Maybe I'm missing something here. |
Use sparknotes if you haven't tried it already.
|
Use sparknotes if you haven't tried it already.
I've got Sparks open right now. It's not helping too much. It says that they are corrupt and that's about it. |

Well, if what I'm thinking is correct, than my birthmom is still out there somewhere, and while I certainly don't need her, it still hurts to know that she didn't want me. I'll get over it, but it's just something instinctive. And wasn't Jordan the one Jay was having an affair with? I know he really wanted Daisy, but I think he was doing something with Jordan. I haven't read the damn book in three years, though, and even then I was kind of skimming it. |
I read that book last year, and I remember one thing my teacher kept pounding into us is that Gatsby "corrupted" his idea of the American Dream by letting a person (Daisy) become an object of it. Like, to achieve his dream, he had to have her, and it ruined him.

I haven't read the damn book in three years, though, and even then I was kind of skimming it.
I know what you mean. I used to have a huge problem with it; just didn't understand mainly. People keep trying to tell you that she did it because she wanted a better life for you and stuff like that, but it really doesn't make you feel any better. You just have to come to terms with it. I can't think of myself having another person for a mother, even if she was my biological. It would just be wrong. I have a mom already as far as I'm concerned. No, Jordan was the golfer that Nick took out a couple times. Sliptallica - that helped, thanks. The problem is that the chart wants corruptional behavior; that's what makes this so fucking annoying. Ok, so here's what I've got so far. I thought I'd start with Tom. Tom’s corrupt behavior is cheating on his wife with Myrtle Wilson, and lying to George Wilson by telling him that Gatsby killed Myrtle. That's under behavior. Then comes consequences. The consequences of both Tom’s actions are the death of Gatsby. George finds Gatsby at his mansion and shoots him. This affects Tom because I stopped because that's when I realized that the instructions wanted me to say the consequences as to how they affect Tom. Grr. |
Corrupt behavior? Like Gatsby being a bootlegger? Or deeper than that?
|
Corrupt behavior? Like Gatsby being a bootlegger? Or deeper than that?
I don't know anymore. I think it's deeper than that, but when I think of corruptional behavior and Gatsby...that's the only thing I can come up with. That's got to be the answer. But...what consequences does that have? He is killed not because of that, but because he was framed. |
I'll do Gatsby. I really like his character. I'll edit it.
Gatsby: To get Daisy Gatsby convinced himself he needed to become wealthy and achieve the American dream. He makes it his life, and makes Daisy apart of it. He does illegal jobs and bootlegging to gain his wealth. Consequences: By the time he had achieved his wealth, he was to late and Daisy had already found someone else and was torn between two people. This ruins Gatsby because he couldn't achieve his dream without Daisy. That's what I'd put, but meh, I haven't been in school in awhile. |
I'll do Gatsby. I really like his character. I'll edit it.
Thanks so much for your help. :) That's great; I get it now. :D Thanks so much. |
No problem.
Have you all ever gotten really terrible sun burns? When I went to Ozzfest I didn't put on sun screan (big mistake) so I was in the bright sun for 11 hours with no shade or nothing. My entire arms, and my entire head and neck are covered in 3rd degree sun burns. They are starting to peel off now, but the past few days have been a mess. |
I don't get sunburn. :D

When I was in 2nd grade I remember going to this local waterpark aat the end of the school year. I was there all day and I didn't put a drop of sunscreen on. Big effing mistake. I was peeling all over my back and arms for a good month. For a Californian, the sun isn't very friendly with my skin. |
Yeah, the back of my neck burns really easy.

I remember my feet got sunburned once...
Hurt like hell for a few days. |
I hate how people are still voting stuff like "Muse, haven't heard much/any Dredg." My thread's still on the first page you fools, go educate yourselves... :(

I voted Dredg. I haven't heard much Dredg, but I absolutely despise Muse. Also, it turns out I was right. I'm not my mom's kid. A year or so before my dad met my mom, my dad had this thing with another woman and she had me. When I was only a few months old, my birth mom packed up and ran away in the middle of the night and my dad took care of me for a little while before he met my mom. |

this is the most excited I have ever been I think |
Jom: Noice...that is sure as hell better than the dorm I'm staying in.
And I do want to do a series but I'm afraid it'll die quickly because frankly, I've never really supported anyone else's series. I mean, I read them but I never have any idea what to say. I don't want to just post fluff like "Good work", I want to add on to it and say a discussion-starter or something like that.
I dont feel like posting a simple "Good work" either so I try to be a bit more talkative and/or write a small review on the songs uploaded. Other people dont do it very often so there's no real discussion and most series threads get burried quickly. Still I've discovered many good bands thanks to them. What genre of music would you cover if you started a series? Also, how come you hadnt thought about your mom not being your birth mom until now? |

Yes there are controllers that work with emulators. I have one, but I prefer to use the keyboard. |
I don't want to sound like Dr. Phil, but how does that make you feel knowing this (and that, in turn, that your suspicions weren't unfounded)?
///
Yes there are controllers that work with emulators. I have one, but I prefer to use the keyboard.
Any suggestions you have for keyboard use, then? Maybe it's from playing systems that I'm not accustomed to it, even though I can play games like GTA3 and Half-Life 2 without any worries. ///
To get it out of the way : 'OmgZZ!"
