That's how I started. |

Quadrophenia Who Are You The Who sell Out Tommy Live at Leeds ...others will mention the rest
Yea, but if you get Live at Leeds be sure to get the delux edition with all of Tommy on it, rather then buy the non deluz edition with 8 songs and then realize what you have done when you have no money left :upset: |

If you only got 8 songs you got robbed. The original LP Live At Leeds has 6 songs, but the CD version now(the single disc one) has 14 tracks. |
You guys know who rocks...Ted Nugent. Hey Baby is my new favorite song for a while, along with Don't Ask Me No Questions by LS.
|
ALL of tommy?
I dont think i have the original version, but its 14 songs with a few songs from Tommy, but did they perform the whole thing live? And yeah, that cost a fortune too... |
ALL of tommy?

The 2-Disc deluxe version has the 13 tracks(minus the Amazing Journey/Sparks combo) on disc one from the regular version, then disc 2 has all of Tommy except for Sensation, Cousin Kevin, The Underture, and Welcome. |

And just a quistion, when they preformed it live did they add solo's to the songs? I mean when they did We Arn't Gonna Take It at Woodstock it had a solo. |
yeah...i just read your other post lunch...
I got the 14 track (obviously), but its possibly one of the best live albums i ever heard. Tommys not near my favorite album though, so i probably wasnt missing much |

Not so much on Tommy, but on the other songs on Live At Leeds they did sometimes. |

Everybodies bashin on me today :upset: Well i looked at em anyway, and whyd they play the songs out of order? I couldnt imagine hearing a rock opera randomly...im the kinda person who cant enjoy individual songs, even on regular albums. But that still confuses me. |

God wouldn't the whole thing be so much easier just to have put on one cd instead of putting out three different versions of the same show? |

But that still confuses me.
The only part that's really out of order is that they play Pinball Wizard before they play Do You Think It's Alright?, and Fiddle About, and I think Tommy Can You Hear Me is slightly out of place, but it really doesn't matter what order that part goes in. |
I'm writing a review on Back In the US now.

Well when they released it in 1971 as an LP, they only had room for the 6 songs they put on there. Someone eventually went back and got the 14, then that new company that has Deluxe Versions of all these albums came along and added the Tommy disc. |
This thread has to stop dying
Random Who Fact: The Who performed Woodstock but reportably hated it. Entwistle quoted "Probably the worst ever festival experience we ever had." |
Everyone always says how bad their performance was, but I've never seen it.
|
Did they do the bluesy one?
|

Entwistle quoted "Probably the worst ever festival experience we ever had."
Yeah I heard that the Dead were suppose to play, but Jerry kept getting shocked from his guitar and the rain, and he said somthing like that, though he also said he still had fun though. I forget where I heard it so I may be wrong but meh. |

You should see the Beatles page, before I bumped it, it was on page 4 or 5. |

The footage from the Woodstock dvd wasn't bad, though I suppose they would't show the bad parts. |

thats because almost nobody except some classic rock regulars can respect the beatles. bands like Zep, Floyd, or metallica can get some credit for being in more progressive or harder rock, but most people think of the beatles as nothing but gay love songs, when they have so many better unknown ones latter in their carrer. Eh, whatever. Im outta here. We'll have to do one of those Chats again soon. This place seems to be getting duller every time i visit...or maybe its just me |
The bad parts would be the most fun to see. lol

Yea, Bob Weir also said they were completely tripping during the performance. |
Not to change the subject but who here has heard the Mc5 live cd Kick Out The Jams. You know that cd must have been really influencial to some because lots of people do covers of Kick Out The Jams, and open with saying "kick out the jams mother fuckers" (well when BOC does it they say brothers and sisters, but that was before the uncensored one). I've heard a couple local bands doing that, and the most famous cover of it today is probally RATM'S cover of it.

its an extremely influencial album. the opening line has definitely been integrated into rock vernacular. badmoon may get angry because APPARENTLY it sounded like i was disrespecting them in some other thread. cant quite recall which though. stupid memory. temporal lobes! anyway, yes, kick out the jams is one of the best live albums i own. the energy that comes out of the recording is awesome. |
Yeah thats actually the only MC5 I own, its really good though. Motor City is Burning is my favorite song on the cd. Wasn't like the lead singers brother the head of a really radical extreame hippie group that would blow up army recruiting buildings (though at a time when nobody would get hurt).

I recall is seeming as a dis, but let's put it be us. :) Kick out the Jams is a fantastic album. Rob Tyner was a machine. I wish they would release a DVD of them from back then, with the original members. |

The MC5's mentor was the radical John Sinclair (Listen to the John Lennon song "John Sinclair"). He was a real crazy guy; he was the main cause for the riots during the Democratic Convention is Chicago. He did a bunch of crazy stuff. Sorry I can't tell you all of it. :) |
I see Badmoon double postin'.
(sung to the tune of Bad Moon Rising, the part where he says "I see rivers overflowin..") |
I see, yea I've just been getting into MC5 but they are really interesting, and a great band. Its too band so few people know who they are. Though I heard they are doing or did a recent tour.
