Flying Saucer Attack.
Best noise/shoegaze band ever. |
i wanna know i wanna knoooooooow man she has such a bad voice, but in a good way.
Yeah but that just adds to the awesomeness of it basically. Besides she's more of a 'talker'. |
Who? Kim? Gordon? Moore?
I think so. She sings nicely on "Reena", though. |
Chavez - Ride the Fader
this is so amazing. |

|
i cannot illustrate enough how much i love annuals
never heard of them. what are they like? |
hmm theyre hard to explain
theyre a pop band but they often use multiple drumsets/drums so they have a good sense of percussion. they kind of remind me of architecture in helsinki in terms of their melodies and the various instrumentation they use. |
Old Time Relijon
James Chance and the Contortions meets Captain Beefheart. |
I listened to Loveless again today. It's still good.
Anyone like Beirut? |
Beirut is really nice music.
|
I just LOVE Gulag Orkestar. My favourites are "Prenzlauerberg", "Postcards From Italy", and "Mount Wroclai (Idle Days)".
|
yeah, Beirut rulez. I want to get the Lon Gisland EP, but I dunno if its worth it?
today: Bat For Lashes CocoRosie - La Maison and Noah's Ark Avey Tare & Panda Bear - Spirit They've Gone... - way better than nois-y Danse Manatee/Here Comes the Indian Animal Collective |
It's good, but not great.
I have $4.39 in iTunes store credit, and I want to use it exactly. What EP should I get? |
Today:
Mission of Burma - Vs. The Constantines - Tournament of Hearts Jim O'Rourke - Eureka I'm now listening to the free jazz album O'Rourke released with a Japanese jazz artist named Akira Sakata. It's pretty accessible for free jazz I guess, or maybe I just like Jim's guitar playing. |
American Football - American Football
So gorgeous. |
A Wilhelm Scream - Ruiner
"The King Is Dead" is all sorts of awesome. |
And for today it was...
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds Pixies - Doolitte Earth - Earth 2 Boris - Pink |
Chapterhouse - Whirlpool
|
Well obviously.

Tommy Guerro - A Little Bit of Somethin'
He may have first come to light as a cult figure in the 80's skateboarding scene, but when he gave up skating to concentrate on music, this was to be a decision that would enable him to produce some wonderfully beautiful Latin (Puerto Rican) referencing music, that uses the elements of his skate-punk pass, to produce an album of delicate Indie Rock, a dash of Post-rock & ever so slight trances of Experimental rock, to deliver a subtle album of magpie influences that features languid grooves, Latin music, Acoustic guitar, electronica-styled beats, "Tortoise" style Post-rock experimentation, with the odd usage of jazz, and even samba are all thrown into a theoretical musical cooking pot, and emerged as an album bristling with downtempo grooves. Its an album that blends influences from all kinds of unexpected, offbeat places and tires that reinterpret them with a decidedly stripped-down feel. There are no heavy guitar or Big beat diversions here, its resolutely a low-key, Lo-fi feel, that feels remarkably personal, as opposed to being something heavily produced that lacks that intimate connection, and the fact that the majority of the musicians playing the instruments here, are Friends of Tommy Guerrero emphasises that DIY feel. |
So its like skateboard-latin-punk?
|
It's hard to explain, but it rules.
