French is some of the best. Australia though has their fair share of brutal **** though.
|
I tried listening to Peste Noir once, but I was extremely annoyed by the vocals.
What kind of bm is Grand Belial's Key? I keep hearing the name pop up and I'm kinda getting intrigued. |
lol I wouldn't ever listen to Jew black metal.
Salem (Israel) is pretty elite |

lol, bestial warlust? besides them australia is more for depressive black metal.
Grand Belial's Key?
do you like arghoslent? if so check 'em out, they have a lot of melody and good riffs, not unlike argholslent. |

i'd hardly say australia has a burgeoning depressive black metal scene |
crawling in mein skin
these wounds they will not heil |
Swiss black metal is my pick as far as quality per band goes. Sure there's not as many bands but most are superb.

Yeah, I kinda like Arghoslent's riffs. Guess I'll check them out then. |

Hell, no ! There is Deströyer 666 and Razor of Occam too ! They both rules ! :thumb: And yeah, we have some nice BM band here in France, but I'm not a big black metal fan. My favorites band are Bathory, Enslaved, Wolves in the Throne Room, Rotting Christ, Kawir, Nocternity (this three are greek), Tsjuder, Kampfar, Aes Dana, Kroda (this three are pagan/black) and... well probably Blut Aus Nord... And I don't like Deathspell Omega. So there is not a lot of french black metal bands that I listen to. But Artefact, Orakle and Hegemon seems to be good. |
check out belenos dude, they're french bm and are very good
|
Oh yes of course ! I know Belenos, it's pretty much like Aes Dana (It seems to me, that some members of Belenos play in Aes Dana). I will probably buy "Spicilege" one day or another. ;)
|
yeah spicilege is my favourite of theirs. i haven't heard of Aes Dana, are they good?
|
Yes. "Formors" is my favourite celtic black metal album. There is nice celtic parts (much better than Eluveitie stuffs on "Spirit") and the black metal parts are dark and quite fast. But both of these aspects are well mixed together.
But I guess it's a little bit more agressive than Belenos. You should check "Ventres Noirs" on YouTube, it's not the best song ("Exile", "Mer de Glace et d'Ombre" or "Gwenardell" are my favourites), but it's still good. |
Ugh, not gonna lie. Aes Dana is probably the best French band I've ever heard. And the annoying accent isn't too obvious either.
|
I like my black metal Teutonic.
|
just listened to that song on youtube, it was okay. they sound very much like the irish band waylander. i think the folk elements might be a little too pronounced/unsubtle for my liking
|
Hu ? Waylander dont' play black metal... It's more thrash/heavy oriented.
@ Cemion : In fact they have a french accent, because the lyrics are in french (and it's quality lyrics). But I find the vocals pretty raw and agressive... So that's great. |
Waylander dont' play black metal... It's more thrash/heavy oriented.
the first half of that song is very, very similar to waylander's material, mostly because of the tin whistle. you're right though, it's more black metal than waylander (remember i'm judging just from that one song) |
i like this Jotun guy he has good taste.
i vote him one of the Top Ten Best Newbies |

Yeah, I know. What I meant to say was that it doesn't really sound annoying or anything here. @ TimJim: Yeah, the dude even found a French band that I enjoy listening to. :amaze: |
well he is french
besides Mayhem, Burzum, and Darkthrone most Scandinavian black metal is pretty expendable.
and Bathory, Emperor, Ildjarn, Dissection, Immortal, Gorgoroth, Sacramentum... and others I'm sure |
Bathory and maybe Ildjarn but those others are gay or I don't care about them.
|
Dude, Dissection is awesome.
|
lol
|
Truth.
|
Bathory and maybe Ildjarn but those others are gay or I don't care about them.
I thought you said Ildjarn is hard to listen to. Dissection really does rule, when I was first getting into metal I was taken by them but then once I got into rawer, nastier stuff I thought they were boring melocrap, but then I listened to them again not too long ago and they really do have amazing songwriting. |
i like this Jotun guy he has good taste.
i vote him one of the Top Ten Best Newbies
Haha ! If you say so. :p About Dissection, this is more black/death than just black (this band was influenced by swedish death metal). Immortal is pretty badass. "Battles in the North" is good (even if the production is terrible) and "At the Heart of Winter" is excellent... But well, it's not black metal but a kind of heavy/black metal. After "At the Heart...", Immortal is a bit lame. And don't forget that the "**** the Christ Tour" in 1993 with Blasphemy, Immortal and Rotting Christ was the first black metal tour in History. |
so I got a private message on a forum I post on
"Aaah, the black-metal soul in you! Bra skit, bra skit. Kolla in bandet Mörker. Svensk black-metal. (min brorsons band, måste ju promota!)" nice I talked to the uncle of someone in Mörker, lol |
