I've been into Amon Amarth for a while, they're really just like any other melodeath band, people have actual formed opinions on them, rather than liking them because of hype or hating them because of hype, etc.

The hype is probably because scene kids got their first taste on the Trivium/Bodom tour.
Most likely.

I hate it when people say Band A, sucks because they are popular or they sold out (or something along those lines).

i am the robots 03-31-2006 04:14 PM

I really really like Amon Amarth, but they're like everything I listen to, I listen to them constantly for like 3 weeks, and then I don't listen to them for like 3 months.

I'm on cable to, no problems here.

Lord Abortion 03-31-2006 04:46 PM

Hey guys.

My Drama exam went well, and I got a tax rebate of some of the money I'm owed, I may have to chase up the rest from last year though.

It's enough to allow me to quit my job tomorrow, though.

hah, I did just pay my mum a huge chunk out of that because I owed her loads for train tickets booked on her card. Damn trainline.com not accepting switch cards.

well; I'm spending some on CDs tonight I think, Kill will be on there, and a Leonard Cohen album, I want that Obituary double album that AR told me to get, too.

blue3 03-31-2006 04:48 PM

What's the job you're quitting?

Lord Abortion 03-31-2006 04:51 PM

Tillboy at Morrisson's supermarket.

I've been there part time since September 04...about as long as I've been on MX, coincidentally.

I have got to the point where I actively dread going to work. It's not hard work or bad or anything, I just want to experience what a weekend is again, it's been so long since I had one I've forgotten what they're for...

Jev 03-31-2006 05:18 PM

So you're not gonna go look for another job?

Stormrider 03-31-2006 05:18 PM

Meh, I wish I could just go out and buy a few cd's...but I can't :(

But on the other hand, I had lost a school book, therefore I had to pay it...9 $. And this morning they call my name to the library and tell me they found the book, so they gave back my 9$. :)

Jev 03-31-2006 05:21 PM

I think I'm gonna kick my drummer out of my band. I'm not sure when to tell him but he's got another band which he plays bass in which are getting big and I doubt it'll be long before he quits anyway :(
I just need to find someone of the same skill on drums.

Oh man, you've got to tell me how the Kill DVD is. I would love to pick that up.

GenuineImitation 03-31-2006 05:43 PM

I was going to buy that Iron Maiden DVD, but I didnt have enough money. I got Dream Theater's 5 years in a livetime and Images and Words Live in Tokyo for $17 though.

Lord Abortion 03-31-2006 05:54 PM

The Kill DVD sounds great, another 18 or so live tracks for free!

It's actually a law that they have to finish with A skull full of maggots/hammer smashed face though...I wonder what they encore with in Germany where they can't play those?

Bartender 03-31-2006 06:31 PM

New Green Wing rocked my particular casbah. I don't care that none of you care.

I hope it's repeated. My video recorder broke, and as I was busy at the aforementioned exam and missed it, I need to find some way of viewing it.

NP-Blind Guardian-Traveller in time.

Bartender 03-31-2006 06:49 PM

I hope it's repeated too; I want to watch it again, and my mam and sister were both out (one working, one playing) and missed it.

You'll run into it someday, though, and til then have it to look forward to. Fortunately I'm too elated - as I have been all day - at finally seeing it that I've yet to start lamenting that I can't see it fresh again. But that will come.

EDIT: Hmm. Something I had posts in has been deleted.

Glitterati 03-31-2006 07:02 PM

That Leonard Cohen sticks out like a sore thumb among Cannibal Corpse :p Not that there's anything wrong with having broad tastes in music, of course.

I've decided to stop buying cds until about June because I already have way too many CDs plus downloaded albums on my computer.

np: Public Enemy - Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos

Stormrider 03-31-2006 07:12 PM

The only reason I've stopped is because I'm saving up...and in the meantime I listen to the ones I have a lot more.

ghettoeddo 03-31-2006 07:30 PM

hwo much is 7 pounds about? you silly british :]

i bought dream theater's scenes from new york, i can't wait...

You should see people when they see Fiona Apple among my Anaal Natrahktatattak and my Necrophagist. :-/

Steerpike 03-31-2006 11:58 PM

Well, I didn't have much time today, but the Asian Kung-Fu Generation write-up will be tomorrow.

Nostalgia 04-01-2006 12:13 AM

Jeez. Your laziness is really, really getting to me...:p

PinkFreud 04-01-2006 12:43 AM

Wow. I just bought Mastodon's Leviathon and it's amazing. I love it. I was inspired by YDload's write-up on Brann Dailor. I also just watched Capote and it is excellent. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is a great actor.

In slightly worse news, I banged my finger against a sharp wooden railing in my house and took out a chunk. I washed it, put neosporin on it, and bandaged it. The wound is now black. I think it's just dried blood under the skin but I really hope it's not infected already. I also already had to change the band-aid because the first was soaked in blood.

Bazarov 04-01-2006 12:48 AM

I don't believe it would be infected already. A buddy of mine in weight training dropped a dumbbell on his fingers last year, the next day the skin beneath his nail was an ugly blackish color.

PinkFreud 04-01-2006 12:50 AM

Yeah, I thought it would be too quick too. Sets my mind at ease, at least.
