Any you guys heard of Long John Baldry? He started basically the first white blues band in England. He his band had some members that became very famous in later years (Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart, Elton John, another Stones member (mighta been Charlie Watts)
I've never heard of him. |
That's effin awesome. Convice your class to do a Classic Rock album cover... or a potrait of Neil Young?
That would be awesome, but there are like two classic rock fans in my class (me and my cousin) so I don't think it'll happen. |

I'm tired of being treated like a Canadian! |
I've never heard of him.
I've got one of his albums and it's really good. One half is written by Baldry, and I think the other half might be written by Elton John. Elton John didn't use that name back then though. It's very bluesy, and a lot of the songs are great. Anyone who is a fan of genuine blues might wanna check him out. He had one really famous song...the name escapes me. I will search thet net, or wait til I get home. |

Give him SARS, you guys had that right? |
Oh yeah well we get treatment free so ha!
Umm, Canadian classic rock is cool (keeping it on topic |
Yea, go Rush!
|
K the Baldry album I have is called It Ain't Easy. I don't remember the name of the song, but the famous line was "Don't try to lay no boogie woogie on the king of rock n roll." Some of you might have heard it. He's been around forever, and apparently is still putting out albums. Very underground though. He was six foot seven by the way...which was why he got his nickname long john. plus he wore tophats which made him look even taller.
edit- and i need to remember this phone number 781-7737, but i dont have a pen...so i'm sticking it on here until i get home. |
More like SARS Rock.
|
W00t yay for Rush. BTO, Kim Mitchell and that guy with the harmonica!
Canada fux0rz U up |
Don't forget The Band! At least they look Canadian.
|
Oh of course.
|
Canadian musicians were great. I say were, because I'm not a fan of most of the Canadian bands/artists around today. I don't even think SARS made it to Saskatchewan, everyone totally skips over it on the way to Ontario or Alberta/BC
BTO was great. Very catchy music, great for driving. |

Talking about Canadian people? |
Mainly Canadian classic roxorz because we like to stay on topic and not argue stupidly. Riiiiiiight?
April Wine is a good corperate rock (yes it's possible) band from Canada. Bryan Adams is good, atleast his rock songs are. And then there's the greatest Canadian of all who should have been nominated for the greatest Canadian. <--- Jeff Healeyzz |
Talking about Canadian people?
We are discussing Canadian musicians. The bolded text is subject to change. And I love April Wine. Great songwriters, their songs have diversity to them, they never really stuck to the same sound. |
Calling something corporate rock to me is like insulting it. I prefer Arena Rock or just Hard Rock.
|
