50 bucks?! Definately go. Us Aussies had to pay US$90 for them.
Meth isnt amazing by the way I have done it and it wasnt great.
You're crazy :p Nah, I can bet that "e" is better than Meth. And about the music thing, I'm not that creative, but damn I feel I can play when I'm spun! I played two shows when I was spun, and people said they were amazed at the energy I gave off while I was screaming my balls off, haha. I've been clean for almost two months though, and I'll probably stay that way for a while. It's good not to worry about money, and getting more shi' when you're on that. Like I said, that stuff really gets to me, and I don't like that. And I've seen people change (as in selling their music stuff, and even their houses), and I don't ever want to be close to that. And so far I'm doing good, since I haven't sold a single thing to get drugs, ever.
do you ever feel thankful that we are some of the lucky ones who can really appreciate music this good? when people say 'tool suck', i'm slightly hurt - but more than that - i feel sorry for them. ok, so they probably get immense enjoyment from other music.. but tool is visceral, spiritual to me, it really touches me both sonically and lyrically. i just can't see it happening with most modern bands. the only ones i feel equally strongly about are one's which have passed, floyd, zeppelin for example. apart from isis of course, im a huge fan of theirs, and i can near orgasm during their crescendos :D
Word. Alll my really close friends, even my girlfriend, claim that Tool has changed their lives for the better. The lyrics, the music, everything. Tool has inspired my friend/bandmate Carlos to start playing guitar better, and start writing better lyrics with meaning. And me, it's shown me that there's more out there than what's on TV, or what your friends are into, and if you think for yourself, you can find all those things. Tool was a great tool (heh...) to help me think better, and to be better. |
Concert yesterday.
****ing wow. I was just flat out blown away by everything. I had the best GA seats available, so the entire night could have only been better if I had reserved seating, but not like it matters. The setlist was perfect, however it was identical to the Calgary show two days previous. :-/ The highlights for me were Lateralus, obviously, and surprisingly, Opiate. The live add ons are just brilliant. I can't even describe it. After Opiate, they play a shortened version of Merkaba acting as the intro to Sober, which was originally what it was intended to be. Oh, and after Sober, Maynard said "Thank you guys, you've been a great crowd, good night." I almost shi' myself out of anger. Then they started playing Lateralus, and then I screamed like a little school girl. :D It was so goddamn amazing. The lightshow, the actual song...My god. After Lateralus, the interlude into Vicarious is mindblowing...Adam actually puts his MiniMoog to good use, and Maynard hops on some little keyboard he has on stage, and Danny just goes nuts...Very sweet touch. Then, as per typical, they closed with Ænima, which truly is the best way to close the show. Anyways, last night was really an extremely high point in my life. Today feels like a letdown because now when I listen to Tool, it won't be the same. And nothing will be as amazing as that will be for a long while. :( Heh Oh! And Isis..Shiiit, they surprised me with how good they are live. The dynamics are really what make it for me. I didn't recognize 3 tracks, but they played Dulcinea second. Whatever the opening song was, it hit me hard. Started off heavy, with some growling, then went nearly silent, then slowly crescendoed back up and somewhat beyond what the venue could handle I think...:p Anyways, very good show. I was gonna pick up one of their shirts, but they were 35 bucks, so yeah, uh, never mind that. |
Anyways, last night was really an extremely high point in my life.
I told you! :D |
God damn, the first major concert I want to see is Isis.
|
Sounds great, Jake. I rue not being able to go to that tour.
|
Psh. My friend claims to have slammed with Maynard.
She says some guy gave her and her best friend backstage passes, then they chilled with Maynard on his tourbus watching Monty Python and sipping champagne. Then they did the dirty. Kage - They'll be back. I wouldn't fret. I mean, I think they will be..Because I must see them again. :p |
That's a believeable story.
 at the use of "did the dirty." I haven't heard that in forever. |
"Some guy just gave me and my friend backstage passes for free."

Jake says: but that would be ****ed up. haha - * Abby * - says: **** no i wouldnt do that to him - * Abby * - says: u know hes not all that i thot he would be i imagined him like a ****ing god - * Abby * - says: hes shorter than me - * Abby * - says: he just looks like a normal average guy - * Abby * - says: and hes not like incredibly awesome....his music skills are but hes just kinda out of it Jake says: what do you mean out of it? Like not much of a personality?
|
 That's funny.
|
Haha what a load of ****.
|
Er, how old is your friend? She sounds like an attention seeking kid making **** up.
Going backstage = highly unlikely but slightly possible. Meeting Maynard is just as remotely possible, unless he's become way more outgoing and friendly on this tour, but actually having sex with him? ROFL. I can't see it myself. |
haha!
Well, I'm pretty pissed off with Tool right now. They come to Australia, and plan to do only 2 ****ing shows of their own, and do a 6 festival gigs (including NZ). Why the hell can't they do a reasonable amount of festival sideshows? As everyone knows a Festival gig is not the same as bands gig in their own venue. One look at the following link will prove there is definately the demand for it.

hahah I was about to post that link.
ridiculous. |

Ridiculous indeed. |
And the moral to the story is: Holy e-bay (for those who buy pre-sale, anyway).
On a related note, I don't like the fact that 10,000 days has no lyrics in the booklet. >:-[ And the internet has no good interpretation of the lyrics. >>:-[ |
On a related note, I don't like the fact that 10,000 days has no lyrics in the booklet.
None of their cd's have lyrics in the booklet. OMG so I had the weirdest dream. It was indeed about Tool. It goes like this... I go to see Tool and they play in this stadium. Somehow it's not that full and the soundsystem really blows. I'm pretty much enjoying the show and they play 10,000 days and Lateralus. Then somehow I get invited on stage and they start playing one of the songs on my demo and I'm like "wtf? how do they have keys, how do they know my song?" and Adams on keys actually. Then after the show I'm talking to Maynard and he says he posts on Sputnik forums and I tell him I do too and my username is Moses. Then I woke up and was like "NOOOOOOO". |

http://www.toolband.com/news Once your there, click the link for the August newsletter, they're posted in like size 18 yellow font. The lyrics are actually even funnier than I originally thought from what I could originally make out. :p EDIT: Oh crap, I forgot to mention how spot on the end of Vicarious was live. I mean, those last 2 lines of Maynards are mindblowing enough on the album, but hearing live basically sent me into orgasmic convulsions or tears or something like that. |
Yeah, I also like the lyrics for The Pot.
And Rosetta Stoned... how insightful of Maynard. :p E the muthafuckin' T! |
The best lyrics on 10,000 days is with wings for marie pt. 1-2 by far
|
I'll agree with that.

I just saw this link over at fourtheye.net and thought I'd put it on here as well. There's a bunch of pictures from one of the recent shows. Most of the photos capture Maynard in action but they also show some of the stage setup that is being used for the tour. Most pictures are nice and clear...setup looks fvcking awesome. *two more weeks 'til Tool* |
I need some reccommendations of tool to listen to. I love Stinkfist, but cant seem to get a feel for anything else. Anything you'd suggest guys?

Straight Forward Tool: Hooker With A Penis The Pot Mind Blowing Tool: The Grudge Third Eye Reflection Mellow Tool: Disposition Intension |
Straight Forward Tool:
Hooker With A Penis The Pot
why would you suggest those two as 'straight forward tool'? there are better 'signature' songs - more representative of them as a band.. i'd say Schism, Forty6&2 and Sober are suited to that particular tag/ |
The Pot would be an excellent song to help introduce the band though, I agree though 46&2, and Ænima as well, are pretty representitive, along with Schism and maybe Parabola.
|
I don't mind Schism too, and Sober. Those two and Stinkfist are the only songs i've had a chance to properly get to know. I've got a thing for Ss sssssssssssssss the SS Tool, lol.
holy crap $1225 for a tool ticket?
I'm not sure thats real, most of the huge bids have been by disgruntled fans trying to **** with the scalpers. There was one bid there for 10 000 dollars by a user called ihai2u. However if no more shows are announced I dont think its beyond the realms of possibility to see them going for that much. |

Get the whole Aenima album it will grow on you give it some time. |
A buddy of mine just sent me a link to some youtube video of this guy playing a couple of Tool songs on the piano and I must say wow...i was impressed. What i'd give to be able to play the piano at least a little bit. Anyway, here's the link to 'Right in Two'.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY9AqMtXX_Y&mode=related&search= THere are a few others on there also like 'Ticks and Leeches', 'Roseta Stoned', and some others. |
playing piano is considerably easier if you any knowledge with notes.
I play guitar, and I can play piano decently:) That was beautiful btw. |
Piano is pretty close to the hardest instrument. In an orchestra setting, easily.
|
It depends on what your playing.
Classical, I know your pretty fond of that, is pretty darn near impossible:) |
Get the whole Aenima album it will grow on you give it some time.
I love that album. I finally decided to actually buy it a few days ago and the guy that worked at the store was all 'ofck I saw them live! did you?!' He asked this when I was wearing my Tool tour shirt.. but yeah.. the album is awesome.
