what Metallica song would be good too learn to play bass, something easy but more then just a few riffs, ive learned Motorbreath and My Friend of Misery but they are pretty easy. i want something that will take a little more effort but will not be too hard, Metallica is just too good hard to learn their stuff. any suggestions would be cool if any of u play bass

FlyingPaul_83 05-16-2005 10:25 PM

My review of the four horsemen is on pg875 if anyone wants to see it.

Try learning for whom the bell tolls or call of ktulu

vashts80 05-16-2005 10:49 PM

Bells is actually pretty easy for bass, it took me one or two tries to nail it (7 months playing)...I'd say learn Puppets, Battery, or Blackened.

madlyinangerwithu 05-17-2005 12:46 AM

yeah bells is also one i learned its basically a finger exercise but i will try those u guys suggested...ive been playing my bass for a year and i suck...i need lessons its hard to learn on your own. Thanks guys

METALLICA RULEZ!!

Try the Call Of Ktulu on bass for fun. There is a good tab on mxtabs which is really hard to play with really fast hammers and pull-offs and stuff. Fun!

Some Metallica News....

Lars Spotted at SOAD Gig

According to the Contra Costa Times, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich was seen "bashing air drums in the balcony" during SYSTEM OF A DOWN's gig at the Fillmore in San Francisco Monday night (April 25). METALLICA are expected to begin recording the follow-up to 2003's "St. Anger" later in the year for an early 2006 release.

Someone review a song, how about something from ReLoad.

Uoh oh, attack of the fanboys !

Every single member of Testament, past and present has been / is better than every member of Metallica.

Theyre far better song writers and are better than Metallica live, by a very very very long shot.

Oh, ok whatever you say... I think Testament are ok accually, I wouldn't of heard of them if it wasn't for the interview with the lead singer... He was saying how much Metallica has influenced the band.... This was on a DVD I have called Metallica - Dark Souls... I am not a fan boy of Metallica, And I think that Testament are very very Underated.. In all honesty 99% of people I know have never heard of Testament in the U.K...

Squirrel 05-17-2005 11:31 AM

hmm, almost interesting.

fatbandit 05-17-2005 11:36 AM

Ah well. Being the 'best' band is all subject to personal preference. Some people may think that Busted are a better band than Testament or Metallica. You and I know they're wrong, but if they enjoy their music more, who is to say they're wrong? Obviously someone is getting enjoyment out of the music, which is what its about, not rivalry between bands' fans. Not everyone can listen to metal, or even the same metal bands. People are diverse. Live with it. No amount of talent can save bad music or just music people don't want to listen to if executed in some ways.

However, I like Metallica better than most bands, so I wouldn't worry about my liking Busted or something ;)

Good way to contradict yourself.

fatbandit 05-17-2005 11:41 AM

Psh, you know what I mean. We know that in our opinion that they're wrong. Better? :P

madlyinangerwithu 05-17-2005 01:40 PM

I agree with u fat bandit but there are bands that should not even be where they are today...for example boybands...they really have no talents but people still listen to them that does not make them good that just means that people didnt grow up with the good music and the good people like us who listen to the good music. Dont get me wrong i respect anybody who tries to start a band but if they dont play instruments and they lip sync how can i respect that? u cant bands like Metallica get called sell outs while all these other bands start out as sell outs. Sorry but i have no respect for any band that cant write, sing, or play there own music. Metallica has kept it real whether people like them or not you have to respect what they have given to music and their fans...but anyway...im ranting again so ill stop.

madlyinangerwithu 05-17-2005 01:52 PM

I just love Metallica sooo much ive grew up with them and theyve always been there for me and im sick of people talking **** about them. theyve been here for us we should be there for them. Ive finally found a forum with people like me. u guys rule. Metallica Forever.

"Sellouts?, the only thing we sellout is the stadium everytime we play!"

madlyinangerwithu 05-17-2005 01:57 PM

I'm really sick of naysaying wankers writing them off when all they've heard is St. Anger, which is IMO their worst ever song, it requires less skill to play than a lot of other 'Tallica songs...here's a hint, listen to FtB, Sanitarium.

EDIT: see ya, madlyinangerwithu dude

madlyinangerwithu 05-17-2005 02:04 PM

St. Anger is a great album it was wrote about their emotions it wasnt something they wanted to be really hardcore they wanted to focus on getting the message through for example frantic and unnamed feeling where it really made u feel like u knew what James was going through with his therapy. I liked that CD and all of their CD's, yes St.Anger is not their best work but it is good. but i agree with u metalcritter666 its no their best CD. MOP is probably one of my favorite songs especially the S&M version it shows that a metal band can actually sing and have good technique. which is why i love Metallica, there not afraid of taking chances and when they do they always do a good job...Most people dont like St. Anger very much but it was #1 on the billboards so obviously their doing something right.

"shoot me again i aint dead yet" -Metallica, Shoot me again.

What? the main criticism of Metallica is how their sound has change dramatically, not that St. Anger is a crap record. Most of the people who have only heard St. Anger are fanboys.

I never said I didn't like it. I like the whole album, I meant the sound not the lyrics.
What? the main criticism of Metallica is how their sound has change dramatically, not that St. Anger is a crap record.
No. I'm talking about the people who write off Metallica and have only heard 1 or 2 songs, because they are a 'rock band'. I'm not talking about fanboys.

PepsiMetal 05-17-2005 02:59 PM

This sellout/posers/fanboys/crap should stop. What happening to people listening to bands for enjoyment? People here complain for every little thing a band does. Lol, who cares, if a song is good, listen to it. If it's not, then dont. Complaining isn't really going to fix a song, or saint anger for that matter. I think everyone understands the album's drums were very messed up, but some people still might like that. Maybe...

Im just hoping on their next album, they make a few softer songs like sanitarium, fade to black, nothing else matters, etc. They should just use normal drum sounds and add solos. That'll make moi happy. :p

LarsAgi007 05-17-2005 02:59 PM

Believe it or not, its not really S.t Anger that caused a fan outrage... Basically, they brought down Napster which ultimatly pissed people off, loads of fans were burning there cd's on the news and their official site accually got hacked with LEAVE NAPSTER ALONE placed on the main screen...
Anyway, Just as fans start believing in Metallica again, they come out with S.t Anger.... It saw alot of fans off, but as Metallica have always said, We don't make music for the fans, we make music for ourselves, And Me for one am honoured to have Metallica share there music with me...

VicRattlehead99 05-17-2005 02:59 PM

I completely agree with you madlyinangerwithu st.anger is a good cd the only thing i dissagreed about it was there are no solos and i think solos are important to a thrash/heavy metal band such as metallica and no that i know there will be solos again on there next album i am just as excited about it than any other one of there cds in the past.
