Oubliette kinda stick out from those bands. Even though they're completely raw, there's a melody that makes the music very beautiful. Not to mention some of the best shrieks ever.

negrodamus 08-21-2009 08:05 PM

Like Austere maybe?

RetiredAt21 08-21-2009 08:05 PM

I don't like Austere.

Nostalgia 08-21-2009 08:10 PM

Nah.

Most the bands he listed are NSBM, and as you probably know most NSBM has horrible bedroom production. Oubliette's production isn't bad whatsoever, it's just very lo-fi and fuzzy. His drums are even programmed, but they're so buried in the mix you can hardly tell.

Austere's shrieks have a lot of effects, and I think the guy from Oubliette just runs his vocals through distortion and calls it good. I don't know if you can find any of his material anywhere since it was only realesed on cassette, but there's some uploads somewhere that I think Justin may have. Get either of his albums, they're both spectacular.

RetiredAt21 08-21-2009 08:11 PM

Everything I listed I have downloaded so I could upload it for whoever wants it.

masscows 08-21-2009 08:18 PM

Yeah I'd like to give Oubliette a shot =]

RetiredAt21 08-21-2009 08:20 PM
Yeah I'd like to give Oubliette a shot =]
I'm sure you'd like them.

How many of you like Wehrhammer?

Angmar 08-21-2009 08:49 PM

Oubliette are really good.

AA-12 08-21-2009 08:51 PM

oubliette is definitely one of my favorite black metal bands.

wehrhammer is pretty good too, but i can't listen much anymore.

gregulus 08-21-2009 08:53 PM

Justin, would you mind uploading some North?

gregulus 08-21-2009 08:54 PM

Or just tell me which recordings are the best.
Or just tell me which recordings are the best.
Thorns on the Black Rose rules hard.

Stevie 08-22-2009 12:31 PM

its news to me this but maybe not you arse candles; varg is working on a new buzzum album

illmitch 08-22-2009 12:46 PM

if you're looking for raw BM, Ildjarn is the place to start IMO

Angmar 08-22-2009 01:16 PM

Basilisk tbh

illmitch 08-22-2009 01:18 PM

ildjarn is like the foundation of raw

Angmar 08-22-2009 01:19 PM

Yeah but I don't like them so it's only natural I'd suggest something else. :p

illmitch 08-22-2009 01:20 PM

hahaha yeah they can be an acquired taste. i hated them at first.

Angmar 08-22-2009 01:23 PM

His albums are just too much idk, like I could see myself maybe enjoying it more or trying to acquire the taste but most of his black metal albums are like an hour long which is just waaaay too long for that kind of music hah.

illmitch 08-22-2009 01:25 PM

yeah. there are like 25 songs and they kinda get samey. i don't know, personally it grew for me after a few tries. i'd recommend returning back to them later.

gregulus 08-22-2009 03:09 PM

From what I've heard of Ildjarn, the compilation with most of his early demos on it was better than Forest Poetry. Hardangervidda is probably his overall best.
its news to me this but maybe not you arse candles; varg is working on a new buzzum album
Yup should be interesting to see what he does.

Angmar 08-22-2009 04:01 PM

I do kinda like Ildjarns ambient stuff, it's simple but it's nice.

gregulus 08-22-2009 04:17 PM

The only thing I would change about it is maybe adding some different instrumentation. If I remember correctly, most, if not all, of Hardangervidda is sort of repetitive keyboard.

RetiredAt21 08-22-2009 04:55 PM
Basilisk tbh
Agreed. Band is 666% krieg.

QTpie 08-22-2009 06:08 PM

thread needs more rahu

RetiredAt21 08-22-2009 07:24 PM

I'm skeptical but you've never steered me wrong.

Angmar 08-22-2009 08:40 PM

Rahu rules

Txus 08-22-2009 11:14 PM

Any of you like Ashdautas??

They remind me of Bone Awl a lot, really solid stuff.
