I've been playing guitar for about 2 months, and i am absoloutely in love with Metallica. Enter Sandman changed my life, i learned to play most of it after I printed off the 14 page tab. >>still cant play solo, ugh<< stupid wah pedals and fast fingers that i dont have. get a new amp soon though so

medea 05-08-2004 10:41 PM

I just saw Metallica last night in concert. They were awesome! Kirk Hammet was going nuts with the guitar, and Lars was insane. I don't like the new bassist though. I think anyone who puts down their guitar in the middle of a song isn't that good.

sMURFJEW 05-08-2004 11:19 PM

yea, i dont like the new bassist either, he is scary looking. He doesnt fit in at all

ghettoeddo 05-08-2004 11:26 PM

rob trujillo..? wasn't he the bassist for ozzy? him and jason switched places ironically. or so i hear.

someone else confirm!

sMURFJEW 05-08-2004 11:34 PM

Yes it is true. I liked Jason more than the new guy. BUt of course cliff was obviously the best

bball_1523 05-09-2004 12:07 AM

I wanna see Trujillo perform some bass solos and put more personal effort into Metallica, then I'll consider him a good fit into Metallica.

Wierd-Shadow 05-09-2004 01:52 AM

W00T! GOING TO METALLICA....well....16 HOURS!

Im probly gonna stay out of the mosh....hehehe.....so excited! \m/

He did a bass solo at the Auckland Big Day Out. I can't remember it that well, but it was good I think. I agree, I can't wait until the next Met album so we can see how good his writing goes with them.

Squirrel 05-09-2004 03:45 AM

Trujillo did a bass solo when i saw them :thumb:

Photophobic 05-09-2004 03:51 AM

He did when I saw them too, just before For Whom The Bell Tolls. It rocked.

Squirrel 05-09-2004 08:24 AM

Back to the front page with thee,

*bump*

DisposableHeroes 05-09-2004 08:28 AM

have the band ever played disposable heroes live? I cant seem to find a recording of it on the metMP3 site.

Squirrel 05-09-2004 08:34 AM

They have but i think it was only a handful of times - strange considering its better than a lot of songs thye play reguarly like Fuel etc

Burdcheese 05-09-2004 08:36 AM

Yeah - but its much longer though

DisposableHeroes 05-09-2004 08:37 AM

they do play long sets so i suppose it would be tiring to have too may long songs, especially at the speed some are played

Burdcheese 05-09-2004 08:40 AM

Its the same reason why most of the songs from AJFA aren't played live very often

DisposableHeroes 05-09-2004 08:42 AM

its a pity but also a good thing because they put a lot of energy into their shows and you wouldn't want it to get drained out after a few songs

Burdcheese 05-09-2004 08:47 AM

Very True. I can (just) cope with never hearing To Live Is To Die live ( :upset: )

DisposableHeroes 05-09-2004 08:49 AM

they used to play bits of it and orion with jason as a tribute, its a shame they never played to live is to die and orion fully. That bass solo still makes me all tearful

superpeer 05-09-2004 11:59 AM
Its the same reason why most of the songs from AJFA aren't played live very often
Except 'One'. :)

Echleon 05-09-2004 12:01 PM

hi, does anyone hav a copy of the Metallica cover of stairway to heaven, if so can u post the file here plz

Burdcheese 05-09-2004 12:02 PM

I meant songs like TLITD, ...AJFA and The Frayed ends of sanity.
They still play some stuff from the album; Blackened, One and (now) Dyers Eve.

superpeer 05-09-2004 12:06 PM
hi, does anyone hav a copy of the Metallica cover of stairway to heaven, if so can u post the file here plz
I don't think they ever covered that.

Echleon 05-09-2004 12:08 PM
Very True. I can (just) cope with never hearing To Live Is To Die live ( :upset: )
I can just see it now. Jmaes starts the intro acoustic part with sll lights on him and then theirs this big explosion of lights when you haer that first powerchord of the main riff. Then rob does his crabwalk during the galloping parts. Later when we reach the emotional slow part a screen unfolds behind the band(don't know how though with the 360 degree stage thing) showing old pictures of cliff and the band...

gernm17 05-09-2004 12:39 PM
Except 'One'. :)
they used to play ajfa completely back in the justice days, and also eye of the beholder, and of course one and harvester of sorrow and blackened, and a little bit of to live is to die

i've never heard the frayed ends of sanity fully played, and i've never heard the shortest straw at all live

sMURFJEW 05-09-2004 03:39 PM

At www.LAUnCH.com there is a video of them playing And justice for all (the song)

xtreme_skatah 05-09-2004 11:26 PM

When Kirk plays his solos. does he use down stroke mostly or does he alternate pick it?

gernm17 05-09-2004 11:30 PM

^ he alternates

Zmev 05-09-2004 11:49 PM

I have a bootleg Cd of them playing AJFA, but only half of it

*remembers*

hey gernm17, you live in RWC right?

gernm17 05-09-2004 11:52 PM

^ yes how do u know hehe

i have a friend who has an old tape with metallica 1989 and they play the whole song ajfa and they play all their cool **** except for some songs in ajfa

gernm17 05-09-2004 11:55 PM

i'm sorry man i never went back to classifieds i left u my aim and msn in there just a moment ago

Photophobic 05-10-2004 03:36 AM

Don't they often play parts of long songs in medleys?

DimebagDarrell 05-10-2004 05:43 AM
Don't they often play parts of long songs in medleys?
on live **** album they do a ajfa medley involving blackened shortest straw and others

DisposableHeroes 05-10-2004 09:15 AM

the live sh*t binge and purge DVD rocks, you get all these cool little extras

Burdcheese 05-10-2004 10:16 AM

I'd get it if I weren't so poor :upset:

Photophobic 05-10-2004 10:31 AM

^^I'd get it if I weren't so poor, and if I didn't want to buy at least one of their albums first.
