he did and instrumental with his wife (at the time, or it may have ben his girlfriend) who played the flute. he never contributed anything lyrics wise to the band. he has a writing credit on either on the run or speak to me from dark side, but waters has later gone to claim that he didn't actually write it, but got the credit anyway.

link to the video?

rippa32 10-31-2006 11:42 PM

Sure

Its a good interview too. Ive noticed Roger Waters is a much more interesting person to watch in interviews than most others.

magicbus 10-31-2006 11:44 PM

Yea I read that some of the songwriting credits were divided up on DSOTM so that everyone got a piece, and Waters later regretted crediting Speak To Me to Mason, cause he didn't really do anything with it.

MattSharpIsCool 11-01-2006 12:03 AM

Good interview.

I'm liking Roger more. I didnt like him much when I first got into Floyd because it seemed to me (and its probably true) he ruled the band towards the end and eventually was the cause of them falling apart.

But the more I see him and hear him talk, the more alright he seems.

magicbus 11-01-2006 12:47 AM

Yea he's a pretty cool guy judging from interviews. I just don't like him as much towards the latter end of the Floyd's career.

Jim 11-01-2006 02:34 AM

He's very animated in interviews. He's like a cartoon character sometimes, putting on voices and stuff. Very straight forward aswell. I remember reading a scathing interview where he wouldn't stop bagging Sinead O'Conner, and how he was one of the top five songwriters of all time.

It's funny because it's probably true.

Riva 11-01-2006 07:30 AM

Depends on the interview you see, sometimes he can come off as a real arse.

beso negro 11-01-2006 01:37 PM

can someone explain to me what is on the cover of Meddle? It is killing me.

Kingofdudes 11-01-2006 02:12 PM

Roger's ear. Most people think it is a nose.

MrConeman 11-01-2006 02:34 PM

Thanks for posting that interview, I loved the bit at the end.
I always like to hear the guys from Floyd in interviews, they are all very articulate and intelligent.

magicbus 11-01-2006 02:55 PM

This is a better shot of it: http://www.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/images/news/2004/storm/lrg/meddle.jpg

Cut off the top half, and rotate its counterclockwise, and you have the cover. That's the entire album (front and back covers.)

beso negro 11-01-2006 03:20 PM

I see it now. haha. I always thought it was a thumb.

CognitiveVertigo 11-01-2006 07:04 PM

My favourite PF album right now is Piper at the Gates of Dawn...I love re-discovering Syd, it feels like finding a new gem in the rough everytime I put on these classic psychedelic albums.

Is anyone a fan of his solo work? the "Barrett" album is fairly enjoyable.

MattSharpIsCool 11-02-2006 12:45 AM

Does anyone have "Amused to Death" to upload for me?

I've been looking on soulseek but I cant find one with a good connection. Everything is moving at under 1kb/sec, and I have high speed internet :upset:

If someone has it, and wanted to give it to me, I would love them.

EDIT: Nevermind, I finally found one that worked.

MrConeman 11-02-2006 12:55 AM

I've only heard one song off of Amused to Death. "Three Wishes" it's fantastic, I'd appreciate an upload also, I never see any of his solo stuff in shops.

Ive noticed that. Im a big heavy metal fan as well and you can get very tired of hearing some interviews with people like that because there real dumbasses some of them. It's nice to see an intelligent interview for once. I saw an interview with Alice Cooper on TV once and that was pretty interesting too.

Okay sorry for going off the Floyd topic. Does anyone have Ummagumma here? I'm seriously considering it to be my next purchase.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-02-2006 05:03 AM

I haven't got Ummagumma yet. That one, along with Division Bell and The Final Cut are the Floyd albums I am yet to hear.

Riva 11-02-2006 08:39 AM

I'd get The Final Cut next, I actually prefer it to Ummagumma.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-02-2006 08:53 AM

Yeah, I was leaning toward that one. PF's pre-Meddle stuff doesn't appeal to me as much.

ghettoeddo 11-02-2006 04:27 PM

i love the division bell...high hopes especially

Danger Bird 11-02-2006 08:19 PM

Ummagumma is Floyd's best album.

Kingofdudes 11-02-2006 08:23 PM

hahaha

You're serious... :amaze:

Danger Bird 11-02-2006 08:28 PM

Dead serious.

MattSharpIsCool 11-03-2006 12:49 AM

Ummagumma is a good CD. I wouldnt say their best, but thats just me.

The live disc that comes with it is very good.

magicbus 11-03-2006 01:04 AM

I basically agree with you. Just changed some words for emphasis.

MattSharpIsCool 11-03-2006 01:07 AM

Hmm, that works too.

magicbus 11-03-2006 01:09 AM

Basically the same :p

I'm a big fan of Ummagumma. The live disc is fantastic.

MattSharpIsCool 11-03-2006 01:34 AM

All of that jamming on the live stuff. God damn it's amazing.

Riva 11-03-2006 03:35 AM

The tape version is even better. Still not their best though. :p

rippa32 11-03-2006 03:55 AM

Whats special about the tape version?

Danger Bird 11-04-2006 01:18 PM

Ummagumma is Floyd's best album.
I stand by my original statement. Careful With That Axe Eugene is so amazing.

rippa32 11-04-2006 10:18 PM

I have a black and white clip of it live somewhere in Australia. The picture is terrible but however I know theres better ones out there. So if anyone has that but without the video jumping around all time and distorting could you tell me?

Danger Bird 11-05-2006 12:24 AM
Whats special about the tape version?
The songs are in a different order.

rippa32 11-05-2006 03:02 AM

Oh ok, strange theyd do that. But then again they did write a song called careful with that axe eugene which has no lyrics so what they do just doesn't surprise me anymore.

Danger Bird 11-05-2006 03:58 AM

Yeah, whoever heard of an instrumental?

rippa32 11-05-2006 04:55 AM

I know, those crazy people what will they think of next? Guitar solos?

Riva 11-05-2006 05:33 AM

Ummagumma is a lot more organised on the tape version, and it has a real sense of "togetherness".

rippa32 11-05-2006 07:39 AM

So are the songs any different?

Shazzam 11-05-2006 10:58 AM

careful with that axe eugene = teh secks

Riva 11-05-2006 06:50 PM

Not really, but everything sounds better on tape and vinyl. :p

Seriously, I think it's just the remastering onto CD spoiled the album a bit.
