If im using a fabric paint to stencil stuff onto a tee shirt does it make alot of differance if i use a roller or a brush?

I tried both, and it doesn't really. I kind of prefer the paintbrush, but it doesn't really matter.

I have a stupid question. I'm trying to make a BOTAR stencil. I have the image of theguitar with wings traced onto a piece of cardboard. What would be best to cut it with? Scissors are too big and messy, especially for the small wing bits. Help?

X-acto knives rule

Forest_Fire 07-20-2005 01:36 PM

Oh. I don't have either of those.

Shtein 07-20-2005 01:40 PM

You could just use a kitchen knife, it may work. Or just go but an X-acto knife they are not that cheap, but usallu under $20 Canadian.

Theramed 07-20-2005 01:42 PM
Oh. I don't have either of those.
theyre not expensive i got a set of 3 with about 10 blades for about £3

Shtein 07-20-2005 01:47 PM

Wow, thats pretty cheap. The one I have is about $14 Canadian because I wasted my money on an expensive one.

mine arent to good but they do the job. is an exacto knife the same as a craft knife?

Shtein 07-20-2005 02:05 PM

This is an X-acto knife...

Craft Knife...

So according to google search its the same thing :)

Brain Toad 07-20-2005 02:09 PM

X-acto is a brand. Craft is its actual name.

It's like people who call tissue, klennex, its a brand name that we've used so much we've associated it with the product, even if it is a different brand.

X-acto sounds cooler.

Shtein 07-20-2005 02:16 PM

I call tissue kleenex, one of those habbits I suppose.

cheeser_1 07-20-2005 02:40 PM

use a boxcutter. you know, like al-qaeda

Forest_Fire 07-20-2005 04:07 PM

I found a pair of midget scissors. I'm going to try those until I get a good knife

Shtein 07-20-2005 04:08 PM

good luck

Not a very good idea. Good luck with that.

I have to make my friend a 311 shirt and an alice cooper shirt for her birthday.

I should've never told my friends that I make my own shirts :(

Post pics when your done. Or die.

And the pic of Kira. :)

Meat 07-20-2005 09:22 PM

This may seem like a stupid question, but how the hell do people put studs on? I mean, it seems like it'd take quite awhile. Personally, I've never delt with them, so it'd e helpful if someone could answer my question.

mole 07-20-2005 09:33 PM

there are prongs on the back of the studs people push through the material. then they bend the prongs down.

it takes a fairly long amount of time, but it can look good if done properly

asdf 07-20-2005 09:36 PM

Use plyers or tweezers when putting on studs. Getting the stug prong under your fingernail hurts like a bitch.

heres the shirt.

ill try and get those kira pictures too

religionisascam 07-20-2005 11:07 PM

That's awesome, good job.

cheeser_1 07-20-2005 11:13 PM

that's a seriously good shirt, except for the edge-of-the-stencil marks. but they're heavy or too distracting or anything. and the stencil design is really nice.

what works for those stencil marks, for future reference, is to lay down some newspaper over the rest of the shirt, over the places the stencil doesn't cover.

I've done that a couple of times. I got an xacto knife under my nail once, oh boy did that hurt.

cheeser_1 07-21-2005 12:03 AM

for some reason, talk of such terrible pain makes me have sympathy pains.

always in the gonads though, never in the body part in question. :upset:

Flagjacket 07-21-2005 07:28 AM

I had a splinter under my left index finger nail for the longest time. I accidentally broke the protruding part off, so I had to wat for it to fall out by it's self or something.

Shtein 07-21-2005 07:43 AM

Interesting Fact about Stefan: I have splinter on the bottom of my left foot and Its been there since I was little.
