Thelonious Monk. I end up rediscovering him periodically. I don't know why I so often forget to listen to him.
Out of curiosity, what is your avatar?

I'm in a very non-Alt/Indie mood today, since I'm annoyed; just finished listening to Possessed's Seven Churches, and now I'm listening to Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses by Brutal Truth. Nice, simple aggressive cathartic music.

br3ad_man 01-17-2005 04:52 AM

I'm in the mood to listen to agressive stuff today. I'm listening to Circle Takes The Square at the moment.

Tapeworm 01-17-2005 05:16 AM

Nice work. Band of the 00's.

pixiesfanyo 01-17-2005 07:15 AM

These Arms Are Snakes - Oxeneers or The Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home

Tapeworm 01-17-2005 07:19 AM

Nice work. Band of the 00's.

br3ad_man 01-17-2005 07:21 AM

I have a friend who likes These Arms Are Snakes. It's wierd because she normally listens to stuff like The Ataris. Oh well, great band anyway.

myiaa 01-17-2005 11:00 AM

I'm really liking Saetia at the moment. I've only got 4 songs, but I've had them on repeat all day. I've been looking up things about them and they disbanded in like 1998. Damn

pixiesfanyo 01-17-2005 11:40 AM

Their vocalist is in another band I think?

Interstate 01-17-2005 02:15 PM

stuff i've been listening to today:

Sufjan Stevens
Ambulance LTD
Rilo Kiley
Cursive
Mountain Goats
John Vanderslice
Elbow.

I know. I saw Tales of the Inexpressible in a store the other day, but it was pretty expensive, especially compared to what else I was buying at the time. So I was thinking of ordering it, from Amazon or wherever else I can get it cheaper.

Tangy zizzle 01-17-2005 05:13 PM

Dimmer.

Need to prepare myself for Friday. Blues Explosion will be cranked soon enough...

Bartender 01-17-2005 05:37 PM

You're seeing Blues Explosion? Or Dimmer?

br3ad_man 01-17-2005 05:44 PM

Both. It's Big Day Out.

Bartender 01-17-2005 06:03 PM

Ah. JSBX would be cool to see, but I suppose I wouldn't pay to see a festival just for them. Especially not in Australia/New Zealand.

As for digging; currently listening to some little known (as far as I know) English rock band called Beerzone. Drunken, fun and pointless.

Zappa 01-17-2005 06:04 PM

I downloaded it.

br3ad_man 01-17-2005 11:39 PM

Iai 01-18-2005 12:16 PM

I've been digging some pretty obvious albums today. Mainly because I'm re-touching some reviews that got ported onto the new site badly.

The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
Opeth - Still Life
Jeff Buckley - Live At Sin-E

Recently, I've also been generally diggin' -

L'Arc En Ciel - Ark
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
The Kinks - The Ultimate Collection
L'Arc En Ciel - Ark
They're Japanese right? What they sound like?

I feel like listening to Euphone right now. They're groovy.

Tangy zizzle 01-18-2005 08:53 PM

Listened to Abbatoir Blues a couple times today. So good.

Luxor 01-18-2005 09:51 PM

Today I've listened to:

Sum 41 - Chuck
Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West
TV On The Radio - Young Liars EP
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Neil Young - Freedom
Pedro The Lion - Control
Coheed & Cambria - IKSOSE:3

Holy crap, that's a lot... I don't have a life.
Lately I've been listening to a lot of Beastie Boys, Jurassic 5, Sigur Ros and At The Drive-In.

The Beastie Boys are probably my favourite rap/hip hop group of all time.
I've been trying to get into Sigur Ros for a while. Which songs are their best? The longer it takes me to get into a band, the better it is usually.

Iai 01-19-2005 05:50 AM
They're Japanese right? What they sound like?
It's been called the Japanese OK Computer. I can definitely see why, though it's slightly unfair. It's a very diverse album. Really good stuff.

Tomahawk 01-19-2005 06:48 AM

L'arc En Ciel? OK Computer?

They must have changed a LOT... because the songs I've heard were extremely cheesy. Catchy though. Actually, the only song I can really remember of theirs was called Driver's High.

Good to start you off, anyway, I'm sure people can suggest more.

YDload 01-19-2005 03:37 PM

Radiohead- Street Spirit (Fade Out)

Wow, it's better than any song on OK Computer, in my opinion.

The Ashtray Girl 01-19-2005 03:44 PM

It's better than any song, ever, I think anyways.

I'm really loving Hail To The Thief today.

pinkyeti 01-19-2005 03:54 PM

lately, I've been digging a lot of M.I.A.
also:
Ratatat
the Weakerthans
the Walkmen
the Go! team
