As for Forbidden, they are pretty good. I love Infinite. (on Twisted into Form)

JMetallica 06-25-2004 07:11 AM

Goodness.

YES! Had a meeting for the Metal Society at Uni today, and we might be getting Mortal Sin to play at our uni's bar later in October. :D. Yes, that 80's Thrash Band Mortal Sin. \m/ That's right... a FREE MORTAL SIN GIG... Oh yeah! :D \m/

my bonded by blood CD came today, amazing stuff

DimebagDarrell 06-25-2004 09:29 AM

^ yeah i like BbB but that is really the only exodus album i really like fd isnt too bad but nothing amazing

Vortigon 06-25-2004 09:36 AM

Oh my oh my oh my. I saw Testament at the Camden Underworld on Tuesday night. It was the best gig I've been to, even better than Slayer. So fantastic, Eric Peterson was out cause he broke his leg, but Steve Smyth stepped in for him, and was superb. I have been thrown off stage by Chuck Billy himself, and am therefore better than everyone who hasn't. DiGiorgio is god!

DisposableHeroes 06-25-2004 09:49 AM

You lucky bugger! I await the day i am thrown off a stage by a thash legend with great anticipation ;)

Jon 06-25-2004 10:08 AM
Have testament got a new singer or has Chuck just let himself go a bit?
Nope, he's there. Who's the singer for Exodus? I'm not so big on them and I couldn't work out who it was. Steve Souza maybe?

Couldn't get the Cerberus setlist (I went off for a pint towards the end of their set... Check them out, they rule - they supported Testament *and* Exodus  )
These are the actual lists from the monitor I was on.

Re:Aktor set:
Intro
Sektor X-IR8
ASDEX
Stellarator
My Own Fear
See
Disclosure
Impact
Damage Zone

Couldn't get the Hatesphere list (it was laminated so I felt guilty taking it)

Exodus:
Scar
Deliver
Blacklist
Pirahna
Parasite
Shroud
Fabulous
And then
Forward March
Only death
War is my Shepherd
Brain dead
Bonded
A Lesson in Violence
Tempo
-----
Toxic
Strike
Dirty Deeds
-----
Last Act

Yeah, I was right at the front again. I mean literally. the bassists right hand hit my nose a few times while he was playing :upset:

Toozey 06-25-2004 11:04 AM

Re:Aktor are good.

Jon 06-25-2004 11:05 AM

I was talking to the bassist when he was setting up.

I *think* it was the guitarist from ReAktor, but it might have been Hatesphere.

He had a god**** Roswell Rhoads, and he had this crazy T-shirt. Like with a multiband VU meter on it that was moving. It was krazeee.

LordDargon 06-25-2004 01:12 PM

*worships vortigon*

He becomes a demigod by power of association.

Kreator: I da.mn love it.

Ratmevilempire 06-25-2004 02:37 PM

I wish I got thrown off stage:(

FatalEnergy 06-25-2004 02:47 PM

Testament is my fav band I would give a leg to be thrown of the stage by Chuck

DisposableHeroes 06-25-2004 02:51 PM

Can you remember the setlist?

I posted most of it a page ago.

I grabbed Chuck's arm, so I > you.

Oh, and the stagedivers on Tuesday were asshats.

Corporal Compendia 06-25-2004 04:48 PM

"Like, oh my god! I touched Chuck Billy's arm!!!"

FatalEnergy 06-25-2004 05:42 PM

Just curious if anyone knows who the bassist and the drummer are in the new Megadeth line-up I know that Chris Poland is back

GraveRobbersINC 06-25-2004 06:16 PM

Just reading something in a magazine, greatest covers or something, they we're saying about how Slayer did a cover of Born to be Wild. Has anyone heard this, or have it they can send me?

Corporal Compendia 06-25-2004 08:31 PM

Slayer did indeed cover Born to be Wild... it was just a couple years ago actually. It's nothing special.

You know what's a good cover though? Death's cover of Painkiller.

sensitiveorgan00 06-25-2004 09:12 PM
Just curious if anyone knows who the bassist and the drummer are in the new Megadeth line-up I know that Chris Poland is back
Well, for teh new album, teh almighty Vinnie fvcking Colauita played drums. I don't know about teh bassist however.

Probsably only in the list because its a pretty ****ing attractive idea. Slayer covering Born to Be Wild...who would've thought?

Chris Poland isn't back...he just did one of the solos for Kick The Chair. I don't think the official line up has been made yet, as it's a Dave Mustaine "solo project" even though it carries the Megadeth name. Which is fair enough to be honest, seen as how he is Megadeth.

Thrash_Metal_Forever 06-26-2004 01:48 AM

Sounds kick *** to me dude. :thumb: Thrash metal rules.

Go listen to Slayer's cover of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. Slayer did some cool covers.

Thrash_Metal_Forever 06-26-2004 02:23 AM

What are some other thrash bands that are not some of the obvious ones (like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Testament, Shadows Fall, Death Angel, Overkill, Coroner, Kreator, Nuclear Assalt and Metal Church).

Later,
Casey

P.S.
Are Celtic Frost thrash? I've never heard any of their music.

I like Slayer as much as the next guy, but I thought their cover of Born To Be Wild sucked

Celtic Frost are like 'avant-garde black metal'.. they're thrashy enough.

Try some Dark Angel, Sabbat, and Sodom.

It matters what album of Celtic frost you are going to talk about, because some is and some isn't, The first three albums Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion and Into The Pandamonium are all a mixture of black, pre-death, thrash, and avant-garde metal so yes I would put them in the thrash catagory, then out crawled Cold Lake their fourth album, which was a lot softer, the music was not glam/hair metal as their image became, but it was much much lacking the aggression that it did. Everyone I know bashes this album to the ground, in fact even Tom Warrior said this album was crap, personally I like the music good even though it was a lot more mellow and their image sucked, next was a decent follow up was returning more to the older stuff, but not completly with the album Vanity/Nemisis. Celtic Frost, if you personally consider them thrash or not are still a really good band(one of my favs). So GO CHECK THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I say start of with To Mega Therion to get a good feel for them)

DisposableHeroes 06-26-2004 04:06 AM
