These days, the only thing I'll "pirate" music for is if I absolutely cannot find it on Youtube, Last.fm or anywhere else to sample it, and once I've decided I like something, I'll buy it. Or if, like in the case of Within Temptation's Black Symphony or Opeth's Watershed, the bonus tracks which I've already paid for are locked into some stupid format on a DVD. I have no qualms about torrenting that stuff as proper .mp3s.
I've literally put more money into music than I have into my car and its stereo put together. |
What if I'm looking for something comparable to Alcest's (phenomenal) Ecailles de Lune? I'm not at all familiar with this "shoegaze" genre.
also check out Lantlôs - Lantlôs |
who pays for music??
|
I would buy music if they had online lossless distribution
BUT, they don't so **** it |
the day music will only be distributed in a digital format will be the saddest day
|
i still buy a lot of music, mostly vinyls
|

they should drop the price of CD's, then I would buy them more often 30 dollars for less than an hour of music is a bit much |

30 dollars for less than an hour of music is a bit much
I own over 250 CD's (not secondhand, either) and I have payed 30$ for a CD maybe twice. You should maybe look a little harder for your music.
i still buy a lot of music, mostly vinyls
CD is generally the format I'll go for first, but I have a handful of vinyls as well and I will definitely buy more in the future. |

I don't buy CD's anymore but it's mainly because I have two excellent stores near my place and they mostly sell pure quality vinyl releases. |

Hospital Productions store? I really want to go to that one day hehe |
I own approximately 320 legitimate CDs, and still prefer to own hard copies of things, mostly for album art and silly stuff like that. But I've recently bought about 100 albums through Amazon and iTunes (I strip out your DRM, you bastards) simply because a 50% savings per album is a very hard deal to contend with.
FLAC would be ideal, absolutely, but 320 kbps .mp3s sound great in both my Klipsch Image S4 earbuds or my after-market car stereo. I can live with this. |
@meatplow
not that many, what I meant was something on the scale of the itunes store @elim YEAH WELL SO WHAT I LIKE BEING ONE  |
i own a little over half of my actual music collection, used to buy cds still do but i used to too. now i only buy used or cds under 8 dollars.
the only bad part of downloading is i own duplicates of a bunch of cds that i bought thinking i dont have then i'm like wtf am i going to do now go and sell it back for three dollars. so i just keep them and give them to ppl |
hey guys
this is the suggestion thread, not the talk about buying cds thread. but yeah, P13, you're retarded. feel free to reply in the community thread. |
What are some bands in the vein of Trespassers William?
|
Lotte Kestner from Trespassers William has solo stuff thats worth checking out
you would also prolly like The Battle of Land and Sea |
I need some more ambient BM, stuff that isn't particularly aggressive and would sit nicely in the background.
Forest might be a good example. |
you need some uhh Emit - The Dark Bleeding it's so soothing and relaxing
its like sleeping in a coffin |
Velvet Cacoon - Genevieve
Procer Veneficus - Deathwanderings Paysage d'Hiver - Paysage d'Hiver Vinterriket - Landschaften ewiger Einsamkeit Those are all ambient black metal essentials, the Vinterriket release is more ambient than anything else. And they don't have much in common with Forest tbh which is not Ambient Black Metal imo but if you want things that sound like Forest get also: Raven Dark - Berustet av Kriegsdronnet Branikald - Rdjandalir M8L8TH - By the Wing of Black Hate Forest - Battlefields and you might enjoy Drudkh - Blood in Our Wells quite a lot. |
Altar of Plagues - White Tomb
not very ambient but so good. |
Paysage d'Hiver - Paysage d'Hiver
Of all he mentioned, this is the only one I'm familiar with so far, but it's quite excellent. I love me some Darkspace and Paysage d'Hiver! |
sounds good, this should do for now thanks
|
Haz, if you want stuff that sounds like Forest I would also suggest Forgot, Old Wainds, and Nav'. Almost forgot, get Branikald's Frost Vision. Pretty awesome.
And if you want something kinda like Paysage and all that get Nordlicht - Nebelmeer |
k man, cheers
|
Yeah I love that kind of ****. Minimalistic and trance-inducing. :3
|
i've been listening to a lot of slough feg so i checked out hammers of misfortune, manilla road, mercyful fate and fates warning. what else should i check out?
|
Legend - From The Fjords
|
thin lizzy - black rose
