i don't like twilight zone that much, dunno why, best on that album are drifter, title track and prodigal son (i'm a sucker for the 12-string acoustic).

but the first album is better.
The first album IS better but killers is very Underrated generally

Thunder Fingers 09-19-2004 11:43 AM

I just have to say.. Maby im getting an 6 string bass, bujt iron Maiden song still aint allowed to be played on anything more than an 4 string bass! not public any way... :p

GurS 09-19-2004 11:45 AM

something i recently discovered: DoD is the first maiden albums to feature songs NOT in standard tuning

Thunder Fingers 09-19-2004 12:08 PM

^^ What are you talkin about? Adrian have played in Drop D many times before..

GurS 09-19-2004 12:16 PM

really? first to my knowledge. also, one of the acoustics in Journeyman is tuned really weirdly, it's like C, F#, Bb or some crap like that :S
^^ What are you talkin about? Adrian have played in Drop D many times before..
exactly! on songs such as "wrathchild" on Rock in Rio Adrian is dropped down to D, live they dropped down to D with Adrian to give it a more rich tone while Janick and Davey stay in standard.
Another Life and Drifter are my two fav's from that album :thumb:
what do you like about drifter?? thats my least favorite track on my most favorite album!!
what do you like about drifter?? thats my least favorite track on my most favorite album!!
I personally don't like it as much as others on that album
but why is that your fave album???
what do you like about drifter?? thats my least favorite track on my most favorite album!!
really? i like the drive of it...its a very powerful and energetic track, espically a live version of it. not to mention one of my favourite solo's and interludes. Clive really gets on the drums as well, not the best vocally but its always stood out for me. They used that song as their encore track on the Killers tour.

because i think its perfect, ive listened to it so many different times and found something new each time. i think most of those songs have been my favorite songs of all time at different periods of time :smoke: thats basically the grain of it :thumb:

has anyone else heard about the new DVD? i was just looking on the maiden bb for the first time in months, and saw loads of threads about The Early Days DVD. its live footage, tv interviews etc, and also some home video stuff from 1979 recorded at the Ruskin Arms, due out in early november, with stuff from the mid 70s to the end of the piece of mind tour. and next year's tour set will mostly be songs from that era also. they'll be more DVDs for the other eras also over the next few years.

there's more info at www.ironmaiden.com

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 09-19-2004 07:36 PM

I just got Fear of the Dark and Seventh Son of the Seventh Son. They both are killer albums.

Hardest_Rocker 09-19-2004 08:25 PM
I think that both Paul and Blaze have got good voices, but to me Bruce is the voice of Maiden, and if I hear any Maiden that isn't Bruce's voice, it just doesn't give off the same impact.
I know hes the voice, just i really like the s/t stuff. Virtual XI and The X Factor are pretty good but they seem like a different band.

Thunder Fingers 09-20-2004 06:20 AM
....so if steve harris died tomorrow who would you want to replace him or should maiden just quit?
They should definitely call it quits maybe find a good replacement Bass and do one last tour in memory of Mr Harris.

Thunder Fingers 09-20-2004 09:01 AM

No! if Steve died Maiden should quit, not find an replacement, cause steve is the soul and heart of Maiden, and have very much to say on their live style...

but to replace him if they had decided to do one last show or somthing, they probaly had picked the guy from High-on Maiden..

GurS 09-20-2004 09:43 AM

or they would do what queen did for the farwell tour after freddy mercury died, so have lots of famous bassists do one song each, as a tribbute to the greatest bassist/songwriter ever

rik 09-20-2004 10:47 AM

Thought I would use my 1000th post to up the irons.

YDload 09-20-2004 10:47 AM

There's no such thing as a famous bassist, you fool! I know, because I'm a non-famous bassist, and so are all the others.

GurS 09-20-2004 11:31 AM

...

Lord Abortion 09-20-2004 11:50 AM

'arry is the driving force behind Maiden and if he left Maiden would be defunct because they are his band, his dream...
