the fragile is amazing. with teeth is not fantastic, but atthe same time it isn't terrible either-it is worth a listen.

i haven't really gotten into yz yet, but i haven't listened to it much either so that might be why.

Kage 04-23-2007 12:05 PM
Listening to Pretty Hate Machine, this and The Downward Spiral are the only two albums that have really clicked nicely with me. Year Zero is taking a bit to sink in, and I haven't heard the Fragile or With Teeth because i've been told not to bother.
That's ridiculous. The Fragile is arguably his best. Although I can understand why you'd have been told that--it seems that those who are on the Downward Spiral side of the argument despise The Fragile, and those who are on the Fragile side love both albums.

bebubly 04-23-2007 12:10 PM

tds and the fragile are my favourite nin albums.

Kage 04-23-2007 12:11 PM

Me too.

Voyage34 04-23-2007 12:26 PM

Kage 04-23-2007 12:32 PM

bebubly 04-23-2007 12:37 PM

Yeah well i'm more open minded that that, i've just never really seeked out some other NIN until recently. Always been a fan of Downward Spiral, that albums plays just as the title reads.

Dead Star 04-23-2007 02:18 PM

The colour change on this cd is really minted

/bought it about an hour ago

Static 04-23-2007 03:07 PM

With Teeth has Right Where It Belongs and Beside You In Time.

Some of his best work, most notably the former.

gocubs649 04-23-2007 03:20 PM

Year Zero is okay, I haven't really gotten into it yet.

bebubly 04-23-2007 03:55 PM

chris, i have dld them and i will leave them uploading overnight as they mega slow my internet down.

gocubs649 04-23-2007 03:56 PM

I bought it with a Year Zero t-shirt, which apparently has something "hidden" on it.

A secret drugs pocket perhaps? Iam intrigued.
tds and the fragile are my favourite nin albums.
Same here..though for me, TDS is just slightly above TF.

So I was reading an interview with Reznor that was posted at the ETS boards. Few things I thought were interesting:
Trent is asked how he thinks the YZ songs will translate live. He says he has a great band at the moment but it’s a rock band and would be hard to fit the new songs into that structure.
What does this mean?! Is he planning on changing the NIN lineup again? Ugh, I hope not! I like the current lineup alot. I've always thought it was one of the best ones he's had. I hope I'm just over analyzing this statement and that he's not really planning on changing the lineup again.
He said this current tour was not meant as a YZ tour but as a way of making up for touring the USA so much and not the rest of the world! Said as they don’t get radio very much or mtv that they wanted to tour to get the message out.
What?! So does that mean we're not getting a US tour this year? Ugh, I've been waiting for them to come back..I was actually hoping they'd tour the US this fall again! They toured the rest of the world enough last year, didn't they?! :p
Trent says that the second part of YZ should hopefully be out in a year and that he would do a tour for both albums. Mentioned the presentation would be like ‘the wall’ with a theatrical based feeling and less like just a rock band on stage.
Next year..so soon? Great! But are we seriously not getting a tour until then? And a presentation like The Wall? NICE! That should be awesome--hopefully it all works out. I can only imagine what they'll have on stage, though.
Trent says that people in his ‘shitty home town’ are recognizing some of his song writing ability after always saying NIN as just noise- some people have spoken to him and said-‘you wrote that Johnny Cash song?!’
Ha!...Ugh.

/end rant

Kage 04-25-2007 07:55 AM

Thanks for posting that. There's a lot to look forward to as an NIN fan at these times.

samthebassman 04-25-2007 05:00 PM

Haha, "you wrote that Johnny Cash song?".

Meatplow 04-25-2007 07:36 PM

yeah i find that amusing

year zero would undoubtedly be a difficult album to bring to live production, but in all honesty it doesn't sound that dissimilar to their other songs which they have managed to produce live before. it's really grown on me now.

i'm also back into the downward spiral, and antichrist superstar... if that counts as a reznor album. i really like the production ;)

Kage 04-25-2007 07:38 PM

I find a lot of NIN songs to be fairly underwhelming live, but that's probably because I've never actually been to a show.

misunderstood 04-25-2007 08:39 PM

Best live NIN song: either Somewhat Damaged or Mr. Self Destruct.
Though Eraser was beyond great as well. ..and so was Sin.
Beside You In Time was beautiful too. The thing with that song was that it never got anywhere. It was too loud from start to end. I think someone had already mentioned this before, not sure if it was on these boards. But anyway, it just didn't have the same effect live as it does on the album.

Meatplow 04-25-2007 08:52 PM

Heresy, March of The Pigs & Ruiner are my favourite NIN songs right now, i reckon they would be amazing live.

Ditto. Although watching And All That Could of Been on a massive screen with surround sound the other night after a metal gig afterparty was pretty awesome.

deadinholywood 04-26-2007 04:58 AM

Reptile was possibly the greatest few minutes of live music i have ever experienced. The drums and synths just seem to put the whole crowd into some sort of strange trance.

NIN live>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NIN DVD

Kage 04-26-2007 07:25 AM

Reptile is tight even on DVD.

Meatplow 04-26-2007 07:28 AM
