The album all together is much better then just the songs, but then again all of their albums are like that. Like if i heard Welcome to the Machine on the radio, i would turn it off, but its argueably one of my favorite floyd songs, only when its going with the flow of the album.

dsotm the band, in a way, was still getting out of their old style of music, with just individual songs, and the idea of making a masterpiece was really farfetched, but they went for it and it was indeed one of the greatest albums ever. WYWH just took it to another level.

Yea, I already voted last night. I really don't like those polls anyway. It's not a "best albums" thread, just the "most popular" thread, where all of the Metallica fanboys come out and ruin it all.

I like the Pipers intro. Some guy saying random stars and planets through maybe a megaphone, and then drums and a riff. But my favorite is probabley One Of These Days.

It was never the best album of all time. None of the polls have been the "best" type of poll, it has always been the favorite. Which one is best is subjective and will never be determined by a poll.

Tool is not metal, they're progressive rock if anything. Pink Floyd is also progresive rock... it's a very wide genre.

True. I voted for WYWH even though theres a 0% chance that it'll go though. I can easily say that both WYWH and Animals are PF's crowning achievments, but that doesn't mean that they are going to be the top-ranking PF songs. I'm guessing DSOTM will have that honor :\

hey everyone, long time reader first time poster...
i think that even though many will agree in thinking that dark side is not floyds best album, if it goes up against another floyd album next round, we should vote for it, because thats where the majority of votes from people who dont know a lot about floyd are going, and theres no sense splitting the vote ( a la nader and gore in 2000)

I'll pick either The Wall or Wish You Were Here over Dark Side Of The Moon no matter what.

Only two go though to the next round I advise all Floyd fans to vote DSOTM and not to give a sympathy vote to something else.

Thats what i posted a few hours ago...i still gotta check in to the standings now, but i cant believe the other albums are putting up a fight.

yeah but the problem is, if 2 Floyd albums go through, then the vote will be split again, and since no other bands will likely have 2 albums going through, then Floyd could probably lose.

Well these contest arent really accurate either...it sort of goes metal vs. classic rock, or if theres an album you didnt hear, vote for the other. If DSOTM goes - clearly more popular then others - and other never heard of the other albums up there, it could just as well go through.

Why is it so hard to find the album More? I have been looking for it for about 6 months and still haven't found what I'm looking for(hehe). Also I saw in the cd review section a bootleg called smoking blues which I think was atom heart mother's tour. I never heard of that album before and obviously I've never seen it either. Where can i find both More and Smoking blues?

You cant find more? I saw it at Barnes&Noble last night.

I dunno about Smoking Blues either, I asked about it in the review, but the guy hasnt responded.

I haven't checked, does it look like DSOTM will or will not make it through? Regardless, at least one Floyd album should make it. And the vote will DEFINITELY be split if it comes down to The Wall or DSOTM.
