Just so that I can be of a nothing-ish contributor I would like to mention that one of my good buddy's was conceived at a Dead show.
Thanks guys:). |
I agree Robo, I don't usually like to see other bands or post-Jerry lineups attempt Dark Star, it seems to become just an excuse to noodle around and not actually jam in an interesting way. I did see Dark Star Orchestra do an amazing Dark Star when they were playing the 7/25/74 Dead show though - Dark Star>Slipknot Jam>Stella was sick.
|
Yeah this Mule Dark Star was probably the best I've seen live. Marc Quinones, the Allman Brothers percussionist sat in which really added quite a bit to the Dark Star, and other Woodstock tunes. Here it is on youtube if you want to check it out- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzdmJ9wS-_Q
The whole Mule show is streaming on panic stream and available for download on etree. |
Heyo
Hey guys and gals. I'm new to this forum, looks pretty sweet though. I'm a classically trained deadhead but recently i've been checking out sts9 and bisco a whole lot. lotus is hot too. anybody out there ever heard of papadosio? they're pretty sweet, real young, and will be turning heads the next couple years. they can throw it down. I can upload some music if anybody is interested.

umph
anyone else hit up the umphreys run over new years. it was pretty sick, they rock it
|
Ratdog is a great one. Love the sax work from Kenny Brooks in some of their live recordings.
|
Yeah Ratdog is great stuff. It took me a long time to warm up to them because Bobby forgets all the words and the tempo is painfully slow. But gradually I really started to dig them. Chimenti is a really fantastic keyboard player, and I dig Mark Karan a lot too.
Ratdog seems to be done now though, with Bobby putting all his time and energy into Furthur. |
My buddy is going to see Gov't Mule in the next couple days. Lucky guy. So safe to say, we've been listening to them a lot lately. I would want to go but can't get the time off work :*(

A new player on the field
Greetz,
My name is Karl, and I'd love to get some input about a new project band of mine. Fish Head Orchestra. You can find the music at: http://www.fishheadorchestra.com Clearly jam in the improv sense, but (hopefully) with some different twists. We've been compared to this, that, and the other... what do YOU guys think ? This seems a good crew, and conversations seem civil. Please have a listen. Karl |
Officially got my ticket for ALLGOOD again this summer. The lineup this year is unreal. Panic and Furthur headlining. I'm there.
Anyone else got festival plans for the summer? |
Just joined and saw this post. Pretty cool place. Not sure if anyone is in the Chicago area but Blues Traveler is playing a show here on April 15, at the House of Blues. I haven't seen them in awhile and am stoked that they are making an appearance. I'll be there for sure! If anyone is interested in going or want any info let me know.

Anyone else got festival plans for the summer?
i may try to make it down for all good... and i'll definitely do a couple other festivals and maybe work at 1 or 2 cause i don't have enough cash to do them all. mountain jam, all good, vibes, grey fox bluegrass festival, and clearwater festival are all possibilities... |
I'm finally going to AllGood! I'm pumped to see Furthur again and it'll be my first Panic show. I can't wait to see P-Funk too.

Nice! I have a feeling this will be a good first one to attend. According to Furthur's summer tour dates, this will playing Friday at Allgood, so that means Panic on Saturday night! Those two days are gonna be a hell of a time. Allgood also just added Keller (meh, but he's always there so I was expecting it), Bassnectar (meh, but it gives the E junkies something to do while you can do anything else), Garage A Trois, and the Travellin' McCourys (Get some!) I was lucky enough to see Furthur this past Wednesday in Chicago. By all acounts, the show was a special one - people are saying the best of the tour, but I haven't been listening to many of the shows so I wouldn't know. This is what they played: Set 1: Playing In The Band> Born Cross-Eyed> Eyes Of The World Jack Straw> Wharf Rat Uncle John's Band> China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider Set 2: Scarlet Begonias> Fire On The Mountain New Potato Caboose> St. Stephen> The Eleven> The Other One So Many Roads, Help On The Way> Slipknot!> Franklin's Tower E: Box Of Rain Johnny B. Goode All I can really say is that the level and quality of playing matches the setlist. These guys are the real deal. |
ha i was listening to that last night. john nailed the so many roads. jealous you made it out there. chicago night 2 was a very, very strong show as well.
|
Wow Lunch that is a really good setlist! I was at the Orlando Hardrock show, it was good, but I think you def have me beat! They do sound really on tho!
Anyone in here excited about ♫ The Contribution~~Which Way World CD Release? For those who need to know the band is featuring: Tim Carbone (RR Earth), Phil Ferlino, Jeff Miller (New Monsoon), Keith Moseley, Jason Hann (SCI). I'm sure the band will be awesome to hear! ♫ http://www.thecontribution.net/player/ |
Yeah I'm really excited about the Contribution. Can't wait to hear the album and I hope they can squeeze in a few summer festival shows or something, looks pretty cool.
And yeah i'd agree, the show lunch was at looks like the show of the tour, until last night. phil's 70th birthday. show looks ridiculous, hopefully it will be posted on archive soon. i regret not flying out to san francisco for this show, just looks crazy: Lineup: Phil Lesh Bob Weir John Kadlecik Jeff Chimenti Jay Lane (set 1 only) Joe Russo (set 2 & 3) Sunshine Becker Zoe Ellis Steve Molitz Chris Robinson Jackie Greene John Molo (set 3) Set 1 Acoustic: Ripple (BW) Lazy River Road (JK) Peggy-O (CR) Two Souls in Communion (CR) Brokedown Palace (JG) A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall (BW) They Love Each Other (CR) Mountains of the Moon (PL) Attics of My Life (All) Set 2: Scarlet Begonias (JG) Minglewood Blues (BW) Easy Wind (CR) > New Speedway Boogie (JG) Viola Lee Blues V1 (All) > High Time (CR) > Caution Jam > Viola Lee Blues V2 (All) > Hard To Handle (CR) Viola Lee Blues V3 (All) > Like A Rolling Stone (CR) > Sugaree (CR) Set 3: Not Fade Away Jam (w/parade of floats) > Happy Birthday, Dear Phil! Also glad to hear you'll be back at Allgood. The lineup is incredible this year, doesn't seem like I'll be leaving the concert area for most of Friday and Saturday. The Furthur show from Chicago can be downloaded from the Archive, I'm pretty sure. I don't have a direct link but I'm sure you can find it. Spring is finally coming around in Ann Arbor, we've been getting heavy rain here the last few days but you know what they say about those April showers, so it's all good. I'm happy to be seeing some life again. Indeed, Summer is shaping up to be quite nice. |

are you still a baptist?
|
no sir. i was in 2002 at the ripe age of 14.
|
what furthur shows is everybody thinking of hitting up this summer?
so far i only have tickets for the second night in brooklyn but i plan on going to the first night too if i can grab a ticket, and then an upstate NY show, maybe two NYC shows in July, and if they announce a west coast run in august, i'll probably try to make it out there for a show or two. |
I'll just be seeing them at AllGood. I'm seeing Phish at Cuyahoga Falls and both nights at Merriweather, and I'm finally seeing Les Claypool in PA.
|
tickets for the two july nyc show just got grabbed in seconds by scalpers so it looks like i won't go to those.
got my ticket for upstate new york though. outdoor concert in one of those huge rolling fields, woodstock or watkins glen esque, should be a lot of fun. |
Right now only Allgood, but maybe the Columbus show as well. Problem is that Panic is playing the same venue in Columbus a few days after Allgood. Want to make them both but not sure I'll have the bucks.
|
Seein' Yonder Mtn String band and Leftover Salmon at Redrocks next August. Never been to redrocks or seen either of them. Pretty excited
